In Hawaii

for those of you who were curious about my post in the Current Champions Thread...

I was lucky enough to get selected to try out for the All Air Force Volleyball Team this year...after playing for 18 years and being in the military 16+ of those i finally have an assignment where i got my boss to agree to let me go to the Training Camp...and the bonus this year is that the camp was in Hawaii! I didn't make the team (one of the last three cut ), but i will tell you that this was one of the most physically demanding tryouts of my life...so it doesn't qualify as a vacation.

The trip to Jamestown is a vacation as i don't have to get up early to get to the gym so the coaches can run drills that have you diving and sprawled out on the gym floor!

Then again, i did get to spend two weeks not having to worry about anything but playing volleyball!!! NO COMPLAINTS FROM ME!

Wow, sorry you didn't make it Pete, but that's cool that you got to go to Hawaii. Not sure if you had much time to enjoy the weather, but I know when I went it was heaven on earth.

And for those who haven't met him, this particular Weird Al has the wingspan roughly of a California Condor, so it's no surprise he's a volleyball maven.

I'm guessing indoor volleyball, not beach? Although that would've been schweet!

I got two days off while i was there and had a great time seeing the USS Arizona Memorial, The Dole Plantation, The North Shore, Diamond Head, Waikiki, and Downtown Honolulu.

The weather was great and since they had all that rain early this year, everything was lush and in bloom...JUST GORGEOUS!

Can't wait to go and try out next year...provided the old bones can take the physical labor!

Glad to hear you got the card...and yes it was Indoor...even back in California growing up i didn't play much beach volleyball.
