Hiya folks...
I registered an IRC chatroom today on irc.asylum-net.org...
Just google "IRC" if you're unfamiliar with it, and you can find several free programs that can be used to access the chat. The channel is #cotg.

Does it have dice roll capabilities? If so that means we can play against each other online. I would love to set up a card sometime where we can all participate.

Soem IRC programs do, and there's a few IRC scripts that can be downloaded to your program that have dierolling capabilities. That said...X, the room's Bot, can also handle basic dierolls, I *think*, which should handle the d6's for CotG.

Ok, so I went to the asylum chat page, and couldn't find anything for #cotg listed. They had a huge list of chat rooms available, but nothing on #cotg. Was I looking in the wrong place or what?

just let the screen load up, it will put you in a chat room. At the top right is a button that says "join". click that and a window pops up. type in #cotg for the room, and nothing for the Key. it will then take you there. Use this link to get to the site: www.asylum-net.org/webchat.html

I found a small IRC program that worked for me. It's called Turbo IRC, it's freeware, and it's under a meg download. I can't vouch for it other then to say I tried it and I got into the chat with it, no problems. www.tucows.com/preview/322947After you install and open it up, you'll have to hit the "New" button in the menu to make a new group. Call the group whatever you want (CotG Chat maybe). For the address, put irc.asylum-net.org and fill out the Nick, E-Mail, and Name as you see fit. Ignore the port. Hit connect (which is below the list of servers to the left). When it's done, type /join #cotg and you're in. That's how I got it to work, if you can't get it to work this way, I can't really help you with it, I don't know anything about the program. You might try another program, I checked www.tucows.com, searched for "irc" and limited the search to "freeware" because I'm broke. Hope this helps a little.

It'll probably be that way a few times until we can get people in or schedule something. If you're going to stay on the net, leave the irc window minimized, go about your business and check in every so often. If you come in, somebody is in but they wont answer, this is probably what they're doing.

Set up a fixed time and stick with it for a few weeks. People would start showing up to it. I remember several years ago the AOL chats Mark Ashby ran. This was in the mid-1990s, and not many COTGers were on the 'net yet.

For people inclined to chatting about non-CotG things, come by SonofThread.com.. there's both a chat room and a board.... I think BDS is working on getting a triviabot set up, as well as the CoTG game charts... Dice Rolling is already available
So come on by!

Does anyone still use the IRC room? Should I leave the link in the news fader?
