Just stood in line with my girlfriend so she could get the new Harry Potter book. Thanks to all my concert training, we elbowed our way up to third in line. I have no spoilers, she's reading the book while I'm watching the Season 2 of MXC that I rented. We're both happy.

We got to Barnes and Noble at 11:40 on Friday and had to wait outside for 25 minutes because the fire marshall put a cap on how many could be in the store. Still thanks to preordering I had the book at 12:40 and one for my wife as well.
I haven't had much time to read this weekend, but I'm about 220 pages in so far.

I finished it Sunday afternoon about 5. 28 hours from beginning to end, with breaks for sleeping, eating and recreating.

I'd be much more down the MXC as well there Chad. Great, great dialogue in that show. It's one of those shows that really catches you off guard with all the innuendo's they throw around.

That's the bad thing. My son likes to watch it too, for all the crashes and stuff, so I have to watch it with the sound turned down.

I've never read the books. I've seen three of the movies on tv. Are the books worth it? There aimed more at kids right?

I've never read the books. I've seen three of the movies on tv. Are the books worth it? There aimed more at kids right? They are considered 'kids" books, but they have more depth, character development, and plot layers than most so called "adult" books. Therefore they appeal to both kids and adults. Some bookstores even put them in both the kids department and the adult section. If you liked the movies, there is SO much more in the books. They are, in my opinion, a MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, they are must reads, I just finished the final book last night, and I could not believe all the twists and turns.

I would not call them kids books at all. Of course, it depends on what your definition of "kids" is, but besides the first 2, the books are aimed more at teens and adults. The books are MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the movies, and that is not a slam on the movies at all. I know people who never read that love the series. Do yourself a favor and give the first book a shot. It's short (comparatively speaking), so if you don't like it, you aren't out much.

Just finished the final book today. Very happy I read the whole series before seeing the movies about them. Books 1 and 2 are pretty tame, but books 3 to 7 are much more adult oriented.

I might be the only person on the planet that knows nothing about Harry Potter. I haven't seen any of the movies, nor read any of the books. Am I the Only one?

I might be the only person on the planet that knows nothing about Harry Potter. I haven't seen any of the movies, nor read any of the books. Am I the Only one? I did see the first movie and before that tried to read the first book. Just wasn't my cup o'tea, but I don't hate it like some do. I'm just not interested. My wife and both parents, on the other hand... Let's just say I was a good husband and son and went to the Waldenbooks where all the employees and some of the customers were in costume to pick up both of their reserved copies when they couldn't go. That's the closest I've gotten to the mania. But as far as I'm concerned, anything that gets more people reading is a good thing, so I have nothing bad to say about it.
