I kept hearing about the book "Wrestling Babylon" by Irvin Muchnick on Fox news while watching their coverage of the Benoit tragedy. Has anyone read this book? Was it good? I'm thinking about buying a copy from Amazon. But I'd like some opinions first, from people that have actually read it.

www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/interviews/default.asp?aID=19590An interview from the Wrestling Observer with Irv Muchnick. One interesting question that I was surprised about: Q: The book hasn't had a lot of mainstream publicity yet ranks behind only Mick Foley's new release in terms of wrestling book sales. Why do you think the book has done so well? Muchnick: "Gosh, that's a good question that I can't really answer. I think it's one of those things that bridges generations of fans maybe. Wrestling as an industry has reached a maturity where it finally has a history. I think there's a hunger for stories that tell us how we got from where we were in the mid-1980s to where we are today."
The book must be doing pretty well then....

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking of buying some wrestling books, since I don't really own any right now. Guess I'll start with this one.

it's a bit on the short side (under 200 pages) but all the articles are well written. The standouts are obviously the Von Erich and the Snuka articles.

Check out Sex, Lies, and Headlocks, also. It's a few years old but still has some interesting tidbits in it.
