After ditching most of my recent subscriptions thanks to that abomination of a job Brian Bendis is doing as a writer wrecking Marvel, I was pleased as punch when I read the first two issues of X-Factor by Peter David.
This is some seriously good stuff in which the dialogue is witty, but far more realistic that Bendis' Gilmore Girls dialogue, and - even better - stuff happens! In BOTH issues! What a breakneck pace for NuMarvel!
This has to be the best new X-Book since Milligan and Allred took over X-Force.

Is it as good as X-Factor used to be back when Strong Guy, Multiple Man, Havoc, and all the other great characters were a part of this team? I miss that book.

I'd say "different but at least as good, so far"...
Primary character is Madrox, with Strong Guy, Wolfsbane, Richtor, Syrin and M as the supporting cast.
The premise is different, as its "film noir mutants" instead of "Government X-Men", but I can't praise this enough. Its the ongoing series followup to Peter David's awesome Madrox miniseries from late 2004 or early 2005.

Sunspot = Running the Hellfire Club, kinda... Cannonball = In character limbo now, I believe, after a short stint in Cable & Deadpool Mirage = Was teaching the New X-Men, but I dropped that book after House of M began, so I couldn't tell you what's going on there.

Oh...=)
Hey, if Peter David wants to bring back any more c-list superheroes, I'm all for it...Lord knows he's the only writer who's ever tried to make Madrox more interesting than "See? If you hit him, he multiplies!"

Man I am way behind on the X Universe and I am way too poor to try to catch up. How did Sunspot end up with the Hellfire club? That one has me confused.

Right...and Selene manipulated him into taking a seat on the Inner Circle, and he wound up the Black Rook...but now he's Lord Imperial.

There are alot of names that I just don't know there. Any way I went out and picked up X-Factor 1&2 today. I hope I enjoy them as much as I loved the old series.
