I have a good size list of books that I collect and read, what are your favorite reads? I just started reading INVINCIBLE from Image, and it is a very solid read. I was going to collect this book when it first came out, but I pulled out at the last minute. Now I wish I would've started with issue #1, but I have all the TP and the current issue's needed. JSA and JSA CLASSIFIED are another solid read in my collection, and these books keep getting better. CONAN, NUFF' SAID! Well, CONAN has to be one of the best books today in the comic book world. I'm looking to read the SPEAKEASY line of books that I've selected from their growing line-up. MUTATION, HERO@LARGE, ROCKETO, LONEBOW and SUPERCRAZY TNT BLAST look to be some great books. BIG BANG COMICS has been my #1 favorite book of all time, it may not come out on a regular basis... but when it does it is always a great read. GREEN ARROW is a very good book, I think Oliver Queen has to be my favorite character in all of the DCU at this time. I read no MARVEL books, and I have no plans to either. Why, nothing draws my attention to their books.

Here's the list:
Conan - Easily the best treatment of Conan since Robert E. Howard left us. What a great combination of art, story and immersion into the Hyborian age.
G.I. Joe - DDP (that's Devils Due Publishing, not Diamond Dallas Page) took over the series a few years ago, and they added several other series, but the books have remained fun because they mix fanboy nostalgia and modern day terrorism / anti-terrorism in a way that lets you appreciate the eighties icons but take their new roles seriously. All Star Batman - So far, there's only one issue, but it's a great start.
Supreme Power - Heroes for an adult reader, written and drawn incredibly well. I appreciate this series because I've always believed most people would panic or absolutely freak if they saw a man catch a falling plane, and this comic takes that approach to superhero interaction with the world.
World's Finest - Batman and Superman. Great art. Interesting villian team-ups. Mindblowing stories. Nuff said.
Black Panther - The last Panther series left the jungles of Wkanda and ended in the jungles of urban America. This series is special because Wakanda is the center of the Panther's universe. That he kicked Captain America's butt, turned back a full-scale invasion by Klaw and a horde of baddies, and is revered as a true god amongst the Wakandan people is a truly great way to honor this character as more than the black Avenger. A better cast of villians, a few Avengers tie-ins and this will be the book that the most legendary black hero in Marvel comics deserves.
Dennis, I agree almost entirely about Marvel comics. They have become the WCW of the comic world, hording talent, constantly tinkering with good ideas (usually turning them into bad ones - Avengers anybody?) and cranking out work solely for the purpose of profit. **DISCLAIMER** Before anyone rags me about "that's what a company is supposed to do, consider that a creative company that relies on literary talent and flow should probably focus more on gripping stories that immerse readers into the series instead of how many books Spidey, Wolverine and Daredevil can be inserted into 9because they are popular draws).
If you like the Conan comics, check out the novels I discuss on the TWO GREAT READS thread on this board.

I only recently started reading comics again, and it was actually Black Panther that drew me back. Through the first six issues, it is an outstanding read. Reginald Hudlin is a tremendous writer, as I have also been enjoying his work on Marvel Knights Spider-Man. I'm also reading the tie-in mini's for Infinite Crisis, my favorite of which is the Omac Project. All of them are pretty good, and I am looking forward to Infinite Crisis.

I too started reading the GI Joe DDP revival when it came out about 3 years ago (have # 1-26) and enjoyed them a lot. However, DDP got too crazy with all the spin offs, and had to stop and restart all over again (which I hate)...so this time the new Title is a 6 man Joe 'special ops' team...so I've stopped.
Right now, I'm up to my neck in the D.C. Infinite Crisis storyline...and so far, every book has been great. I'm reading 3 of the mini's (OMAC, Villains United and Rann/Thanagar) and would have to say Rann/Thanagar is my fav...but OMAC and VU are both very, very good too!
I'm also reading Outsiders, JLA, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan is back and its a great comic), Green Arrow, Batman, Batman Detective Comics and the 2004 Adam Strange mini.
I have yet to be dissapointed with any of the books (about 15 or so since mid July), and would read more (Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash) but due to financial limitations, I've had to pick and choose. I plan on reading Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Batman after Infinite Crisis is over...but if your a fan of comic books, there may not be a better time to jump back into it.
I too don't read any Marvel comics...always been a D.C. guy! Nothing really against Marvel, but I'm such a fan of the DC Universe, there doesn't seem to be any point to looking elsewhere.

See, I'm in a bind...a hardcore Marvel-ite, who's favorite books and characters are getting mangled...
And I've only had a token interest in DC...but wound up ditching all my DC reads several years ago when they chased off certain creative teams...I gave their replacements a shot...but it just wasn't as good. (I'm looking at YOU, Winick.)
Oh well...I still have my Walking Dead.

I guess you are a fan so could you tell me a little about the series? I've heard it is one of the best books out.

I read as many comics as I can My faves right now: -- Countdown to Inifinite Crisis has been excellent!! I can't wait to see where its headed. -- IN Marvel Land, Runaways and Young Avengers are my faves right now (both are pretty must outside House of M) New Avengers has been good too, I just wish they didn't dissemble the old avengers... -- Just about anything that Kurt Busiek writes is gold... Conan and Astro City are the current books... hopefully he'll go back to arrowsmith some time too -- Manga-wise, I've been reading Rurouni Kenshin, which is really fun .. No Man's Land was also I really good western, but its only coming out like twice a year. -- In older stuff just in trades, I can't wait to get the 2nd trades for Ex-Machina and Age of Bronze. I'll also probably pick up Essential Killraven.

I guess you are a fan so could you tell me a little about the series? I've heard it is one of the best books out. Well, do you like George Romero's zombie flicks? Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead? And do you mind a book that doesn't have a gimmick (no big name artist, no 'witty' dialogue, heck the thing's not even in color)? If you're okay with that, then it's a must-buy. Without spoiling much, the premise is that a small town deputy gets shot, winds up in a coma, and when he wakes up, all Hell has broken loose...the dead has risen, and he has no one around to tell him what in the F is going on. GREAT book...at the end of every arc, I go back and reread the whole thing. Not because it's confusing or convoluted like some books...but because it's that good. OH...and don't get too attached to many of the characters...this book has a bodycount....=P

I have cut off a lot of Marvel comics due to lack of interest but here is what I get Marvel wise: The Ultimates (my favorite comic) Ultimate X-men, Spider-man, and Fantastic Four. Astonishing X-men (great writing and art), and New Avengers. I just picked up Defenders as well which is darn funny.
From DC I get all four of the Infinite Crisis books, JSA, JLA (which I almost dropped because it got really bad in my opinion), Flash, Teen Titans, and Outsiders. Flash and JSA are another set of comics that are awesome in my opinion.

I just got done reading the new book from Speakeasy Comics, Hero@Large. This is a very good book, it's funny and cool all in one. Serenity from Darkhorse is another great read, with the movie coming out next month this is a must for Firefly fans. I'm looking to see the other Speakeasy books that I've added to my list, they look like great books.

The Spectre, Ghost Rider, The Punisher, Darkhawk, & Daredevil. I usually like the comics with a darker them. The only I one I read that doesn't have one is Darkhawk.

Astonishing X-Men! Whedon is a great writer.I kinda like the House of M stuff, but I've been a Marvelite all my life as DC bores me to death. Speaking of Death, I like The Sandman too. Also alwasy hip on the Thunderbolts, Captain America, Great Lakes Avengers, Hulk and Punisher. Oh, and of cousre DORK TOWER!
