I've collected everything from Dark Horse to Valiant in some form or another. DC Comics has been the mainstay throughout all those years. Right now Marvel Comics has been eliminated from my list, yes I collect no books from Marvel Comics. In my view Marvel just has no draw for my readership, while DC Comics has plenty. In my JSA post, that is the best team book out there in the comicbook world. Dark Horse has never been a favorite, but now I collect CONAN... this is a very good read. I'm excited about Shadow Hawk's return, here is a company I was never big on... but IMAGE has Big Bang Comics one of the greatest books ever, and now the return of Shadow Hawk.
I'am going into a new area, with Speakeasy Comics... Mutation, Rocketo and Hero@Large are the three books that I'll be reading.
In the end DC Comics is my all time favorite company, and they have some of the best books today.

I think that this summer's events (House of M at Marvel and Infinite Crisis at DC) are going to be huge in terms of the future of the companies. Marvel has been ahead of DC for a long time now, but with Time Warner saying they're going to be more active in the comic industry, that could change...
I get about half Marvel and Half DC, with a few smaller companies..
Some of the new companies, like Speakeasy, Kandora and Alias, I'm waiting on to see how they do... at $3.50 a comic for some of them they're pretty pricey, and after what happened with Crossgen I really don't want to read have a story that never finishes again

I agree with you in the thought that Marvel has gotten a little stale lately but I still think anything that starts with Ultimate is really good. The Ultimates is awesome in my opinion and really fleshes out characters. Ultimate Fantastic Four has gotten me into a group that for years I could have cared less about. Ultimate X-men has been descent. Sometimes hit sometimes miss...and Ultimate Spider-man has always been a good read. Sometimes it's a little too whiney for me but all in all decent. About the only other comic I get from Marvel is New Avengers because I still want to believe in my heart that Bendis can make this good.

I was a big fan of Ultimates for awhile, but in some ways they're getting a little stale too. I got a little tired of the hefty price for a Ultimate Spider-man, with a villian like Carnage on the cover, but just a few pages of fluff, like Peter and Mary Jane in a classroom. But since all this stuff ends of graphic nowadays, I've quit on the comics, and I'll take a look at the grahics later. I've always been a fan of DC and Marvel since the 70's, but right now DC is totally winning out for me.

The price of comics is getting too high. I get about ten books a month , which leads to about $30! That is too high; When I started collecting they had just made the jump to$.75!
I am mainly a Marvel guy. Never found anything I liked in DC. I get the Darkness and Conan, from Image and DH, which are good (especially Conan). With Thor dead, I have immensely enjyed the Beta Ray Bill mini, I would actually be okay with Thor staying dead and Bill taking his place!
Ultimates is a good read.
Mainly I am not looking for anything too grand in a comic book- just something to have my imagination soar for 15 minutes.

One book that has a small following is my all time favorite...
BIG BANG COMICS
Gary Carlson and the gang at Big Bang put out a nice book, the main book is dead but they release one-shots that are very good. RTA:Personality Crisis is in the recent Previews and looks like a great issue!
I did try the Ultimates and I never got hooked on them, right now Marvel is no longer on my list. Yes, the price is getting out of hand and I'm down to about 9 title's and thats not every week. The lowest price I've paid is $15 and the highest around $30.

FYI to Tommy Gunn...Bendis is a comic book writer...he gave the art up around the time he quit CotG, and PERSONALLY, I like most of his art better than some CotG art like, say, Hannibal King...
That said, he was a good comic book writer who started reading his own press...now I have sworn off of his books (including the Ultimate titles and House of M, and all titles connected to it except New T-Bolts and Cable/Deadpool)...
In fact, the current state of Marvel has led to me fishing around in smaller ponds for my books....heck, my favorite book right now is an Image comic (The Walking Dead)!

I have read the first two issues of House of M, and I have enjoyed both. The only fault I find with the series to this point is Bendis is trying to cover two much ground in a small place.
Personally, I think he is a very good comic writer. I don't know whether he started reading too much of his own price, but I can see as to where quality may slip slightly when essentially being given the job of plotting out the entire Marvel Universe.

Nah, it was slipping before then....because I quit reading his books before then.
I'm watching Previews VERY carefully...if he and Mark Millar get to overhaul the Marvel Universe at the end of House of M, I'm done with Marvel...as long as I've got The Walking Dead, I still have a reason to go to the comic book store.
