Terry Funk/Jerry Lawler/Sissy Angle

LWPD (this was from Memphis circa 1983...Jerry Lawler needed a tough guy partner...promoter Eddie Marlin volunteers a name in the form of Lawler's arch enemy Terry Funk...who's loyalty was secured by a bond putting up the Double Cross Ranch in the event of a betrayal...classic mic work from two of the all time greats...look for cameos by Lance Russell, Koko B Ware and a young Jim Cornette...who gets striped to his underwear!)
"I want to ask you...are you a sissy?...are you a sissy?...let me say something Lawler...are you a sissy or not? (puts his fingers in Lawler's face...pokes him in the chest and proceeds to slap him in the face...Lawler responds by slapping him back!)...that's what I like Lawler...that's what I want you to do...I want to face them just like I faced you...and after we finish with them Lawler...I want to step out of that ring...and I want to walk up to you...and I want to look you eye to eye...and I don't want to spit in your face...and I don't want to slap ya...I want to put out my hand...and say you're a hell of a man...and I expect you to do the same to me..."
-Terry Funk sells his partnership with long time nemesis Jerry Lawler as a product of mutual respect...but can one ever really trust a man as complex and self serving as The Funker?
"All I can say is...you keep your word...and we leave those punks laying in the middle of the ring...and I'll shake both your hands...I'll tell you this right now...it's gonna be a great day for Memphis, Tennessee...because we're gonna finish off...The Family!"
-a wary Jerry Lawler...confident in the efficacy of his partner...but not completely sold on his commitment to the task at hand
When you look at me
You better look hard and look twice
Is that me baby?
Or just a brilliant disguise?
