chris,
when you ban someone do this mean they can't come on to the boards?or are they locked out for a certain time?.just asking is all.

Generally it's just a temporary thing, and while "locked out" of their accounts they're still welcome to read as a guest. Most of the time it's only a one-day "time out" just to reinforce the rules, with repeat violations increasing the penalty.
There has only been one full-time ban (that stuck; a couple others were appealed), not counting spam accounts and other troll-like nonsense that all boards have to deal with.

Heh, I have some experience. Its based on your IP address and as soon as you come to the site, you still see the top bar (asking you to login or register) and then below it says Error Sorry, but you have been banned from this forum. And the stuff at the bottom is still there. So you can't see anything unless you have ways around it

It's not always (or just) based on IP; sometimes innocents can be caught in the crossfire of that method, so we try not to go that route too often.

That would be my situation...Or rather, Pittbull's... Exactly. Also, there was another time where an IP ban resulted in Jim Steel (of all people!) being unable to log in.
