Ughh. My wife had told me that. That'll suck big time I fail to see why people are automatically assuming that Ledger won't be up to the role. He did get nominated for an Academy Award recently, and I've enjoyed him in the three of his movies that I've seen ( 10 Things I Hate About You, A Knight's Tale, and The Brothers Grimm; no, I didn't see Brokeback and I have no interest in doing so). Is he the best choice? Probably not, but then again how many of us thought that Christian Bale was a poor choice for Bruce/Batman? I'm giving Christopher Nolan the benefit of the doubt on this one, and I don't think Ledger will disappoint.

I will wait to see how Ledger will be, but I am a fan of lesser known actors getting these type of roles.
Bigger actors, for the most part, what everyone to know that they are there. Judge Dredd, anyone?

Hey I didn't mind Judge Dredd, but being a fan of the comic series there were a few issues with it. But back on topic, not sure I like the Heath Ledger idea, he just doesn't come off as a Joker character to me, I would have loved it to be whom they first rumoured it to be.....Crispin Glover.
Now he would make a great Joker especially for the Batman Begins series.

Now Glover...I like!!
BTW, i may be in the 1%, but hated Nicholason as the Joker. Didn't come across as the joker at all!!
Bah, come on Chris. Look at some people that have been nominated before. Look at Cuba Gooding's resume since his win!

I didn't want Tom Cruise to be Lestat in Interview with the Vampire, but he did a great job, so I guess anything is possible with casting choices.
Yea, I like Glover better, too.

Yeah, somehow I missed out on that one too.
As far as the quality of Oscar-noms is concerned, I know there have been some questionable calls (even a few questionable winners *cough*HALLE*cough*), but by and large it's a fairly reliable metric.

Hey, if Halle is willing to show those beauties, I'm all for her winning!!! That's why God made FF! And it's actually a shame about Gooding, I like him. Don't know what happened with him. So curious, who would everyone nominate for villains in the Batman movies Joker Penguin Riddler Catwoman or anyone else

Ahh, I think you just liked that homo-erotic relationship with Lestat and Louis. Ya undercover Brokeback Mountain lover! ;D

I thought Nicholson's performance as the Joker was the best of his career...IMO!

Nicholson did a great job in Batman but I am not sure that he played JOKER. More that he played a psycho.
I will wait to see how Ledger does as Joker before I jump to conclusions but he wouldn't be my first choice that is for sure.
Rat Race is a very funny movie. Everyone should see it.
And quit trouncin' on quality movies like Judge Dredd.

Two Face should be a Batman villain at some point.

I've heard it said that Jack Nicholson played a GREAT Jack Nicholson.
I don't mind Ledger, but I am in the camp that would have preferred Crispin Glover.
Imagine Bale, Routh, Spacey and Glover in a World's Finest movie.

Was Crispin Glover the one who played Michael J. Fox's dad in Back to the Future? I think he'd make a great villain, but I can't picture him with the sadistic grin and laugh the joker is known for. Two Face maybe, but not Joker.
I think Ledger has the personality to make Joker. I wonder if he'll try to hide the accent though.
As for Jack, I didn't like him at first, but I did later. He played Joker the way he should be played.
The only one better is Mark Hamill, but that's just a voice.
Take care,
Jay

maybe it would different if they let him keep the accent.
