I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but I was wondering if anyone on the board is a fan of Star Trek.
I have been watching a lot of Deep Space Nine lately on Spike and I really think this was the best of the shows. The writers were really on the money with the whole Federation and Dominion war. I also believe that all of the actors played their roles perfectly.

I <3 DS9. Such a departure from the normal Trek series, great character devlopment, and brilliant writing.
If the DVD season sets weren't so freakin' expensive, I'd own all seven.

DS9 has been my favorite Star Trek for a long time. I always thought Sisko (Sisqo?) was the best Captain.
And when they added Worf, my favorite ST character, that was the icing on the cake.
One thing to note is that the episodes got better when Sisko had his goatee, sort of like the Riker/ beard phenomenon.

I'm a huge TNG geek. I also like the original series, because I'm a sucker for Kirk. DS9 was good, but I never really got into it like I did TNG. Voyager was just kind of there, and Enterprise never really clicked with me. TNG is far and away my favorite, though. I'll put in the DVDs and just let the seasons run while I work during the week.

I was the world's biggest Trek nerd when I was a teen. In Jr High and High School, Star Trek: TNG was in it's hugely successful run on tv, and I was one of those Trekkers that needed to buy anything with a ST logo on it. I can't imagine how much cash I wasted on that junk. Probably enough to finance a revolution in some small banana republic. I have since grown out of that stage of trekmania, but am still a fan. I really enjoy the original series, I guess it's my favorite. Followed by DS9, TNG, Voyager. I hate Enterprise with a passion. I like to pretend it never happened. The only Trek stuff I still buy (on occasion, and always used) are the paperback novels. Mostly those novels connected to TOS. But I also pick up the odd DS9 or TNG book. I used to write fan fiction (in High School). But don't anymore. Though I did pen a great crossover between Star Trek: TNG and Aliens, in which Picard and company investigate a space station that's gone mysteriously silent and encounter the acid-spewing aliens every sci-fi fan knows and loves. It was an awesome story. But I lost the manuscript in a move across town a few years ago. In the end, I hinted that Mr. Data may have been impregnated by an Alien, like the android in the original Alien film.

I think Enterprise got a raw deal. I enjoyed the show for the most part but when they started doing all the time traveling stuff I lost a lot of interest. It got a little to brainy and hocky for me.

I am a big fan of The Next Generation. Never really got into DS9. I guess I didn't find the political stuff all that intriguing.
Of all the shows, Voyager had the most potential. They should have made it gritty like the new Battlestar Galactica. Their supplies, food, and ammunition should have run out. Since there was no Federation outpost to restock, they then would not only have been looking for a way home, but for supplies to simply survive. But instead, every time the Voyager was in a battle, the very next episode it was fixed and good as new.

Exactly. And what happened to certain characters? Neelix was like this quasi-immoral trader that knew the delta quadrant like the back of his hand, so they make him a cook and a baby sitter. Tom Paris was a smart mouthed bad boy, and they make him a model officer. And the Maquis all assimilated into the crew far too easily. That's why I said Voyager had great potential but failed to deliver. There was so much they could have done with it, but in the end all we got was "The Next Generation" with a different cast. I mean they even started putting "Q" into the storylines. Q was picard;s nemesis, not Janeways! I really wanted to see how Janeway would react to an increasingly desperate situation. How far would she go to keep her ship and crew from starving (of fuel, and food). Would she go against established 24th century human ethics? But it never reached that point. Because, like you said, every show the ship was refueled and it's pantry restocked. No problem. And how about the shows in which Voyager was badly damaged? Next episode, it was brand spanking new again.

Not overly huge into the Star Trek stuff to be considered a Trekker more into Star Wars.....but I love the original series and DS9 was the best out of Next Gen, Voyager and Enterprise.
And I too would own them all if they were not soo darn expensive....

Thanks Turkish, I've been trying to forget about that for the last 2 days and you reminded me of it again..!! ;D
Anyway, at first I was equal parts Star Trek/Star Wars, then I went more heavily towards Star Trek...Watched TNG from start to finish...Then watched again on Videocassette (an ubergeek friend of mine had the entire series on like 30 VHS tapes)...I watched like, the first 4 seasons or so of DS9, never missing an episode, and then I could only see it sporadically...Same with Voyager, only just the first 2 seasons...Enterprise I think I saw one episode...
Anyway, I saw they were releasing TNG on DVD so I planned on picking them up...Wasn't prepared for the 130.00 price tag, or the 1 per month (give or take) release...Second one came out, and I knew I didn't have a chance...
