This was one of the trailers before Pirates of the Carribean. I was expecting something with Dennis Quaid in it until the letters came up.

Saw it about a week ago. Looks good. I've already promised my nephew that we'd go and see it.

I've heard rumors that they've cast the Peter Cullin, the original voice of Optimus Prime from the cartoons as well as Frank Welker who did what seems to be half the characters in the show including Megatron. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. That would rock! No one did a better voice for Megatron than frank Welker. "No one summons Megatron!" Great Line!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope so because it just would'nt be the same. Also I am a huge Frank Welker fan. That guy has done everything, from Scooby Doo to The Real Ghostbuster and beyond. And Peter Cullin has such a distinct and great voice as well. He IS Prime, just don't think it would be very good to get some big hollywood actor to play the character. Voice actors are mostly overlooked in Hollywood for the big roles, which is a shame since they do just as good a job if not better especially when it comes to characters they have done the voices for, for years!

Frank Welker did Spock's death scream in Wrath of Khan...Leonard Nimoy did Galvatron's voice in Transformers the movie... Cool no...?

By the way, I'm expecting a LOT from this movie, as I own the entire series on DVD plus the movie (twice)...I'm going to be VERY critical of it, expecially since they've already made it not Gen-1 faithful....it better be good.....

From what I understand they are gong to play up the alien aspect of the characters; the fact that The Transformers don't even realize that carbon-based organisms are viable life-forms etc.
Even the tag line plays it up: Their War. Our Planet.
I'm honestly excited.

Peter Cullen confirmed, and Frank Welker Rumoured..? Hmm...Well, one out of two ain't bad really, BUT, it will really detract from it if Frank isn't on board for Megatron... EDIT: While we're on the subject, here's the IMDB entry for Frank Welker, if anyone on here is unfamiliar with the "voice acting god" us.imdb.com/name/nm0919798/

Will Mr Welker be doing StarScream, Soundwave and the host of others as well?

I doubt it...chances are they'll just have him do Megatron since Megatron is the big gun (Bahaha...I didn't know how else to say it ;D )...
Here's what I'm mainly concerned about: Realism...This is going to be a Hollywood thing, so they're going to make it realistic as possible, which sucks by the way....Realism = No Soundwave...I heard that instead of Soundwave they're going to ahve some Helicopter Decepticon that dispatches the smaller robots...This of course is to avoid explaining (or even putting on screen) the transformation from a 1'x1' 1lb box into a 20' multi-ton robot...Similarly, I'm thinking Megatron won't be a gun...Also Devastator is in it, but he's not a big super-robot, he's a tank...
Anyway, we'll see how it goes...

Just did some looking up...
Re: Soundwave: A boom-box Decepticon, whose transformation is rumored to involve "stretching", leaving him with a four foot tall robot mode and who appeared in a Februray 2006 version of the script as Soundwave. Extreme fan backlash over the character has led to the character being renamed and Soundwave being held over until a sequel, where Murphy said at a recent fan con "...we can get him right." The character was rumored to be renamed Soundbyte, but this has recently been dismissed by official sources. The character now seems most likely to have been renamed as Frenzy, after the G1 character who was a minion of Soundwave.

You know, I have been okay with the adjustments made in the Spiderman and X Men films, so as long as they do not change major aspects ( Megatron transforming into a BB gun or moped) I'll be okay.
