As a huge Iron Man fan, that story makes me cringe at the thought of the movie... hopefully the writer was just trying to be funny...

Do we know who is cast as Tony?
I hope it is not Tom Cruise....

What was cringe-worthy there?
No Iron Man casting yet...but the director said he wants someone with experience and a low profile.
Is it me, or are they going overboard with the comic book movies? Some guys don't need their own movies (I'm looking at you, Nick Fury and Ant-Man)...

The cringe worthy part were saying things like "hero in a tin can" and "well, Iron Man HAS been around for a while" Iron Man is one of Marvel's flagship Characters, and this article made it sound like the movie would be like Dolph Lundrgren's Punisher.
As for casting, Tom Cruise actually would have been perfect the first time they announced this (like in 2002).. add the mustache and he's the very image of Tony Stark.. Now, though, between him being older and Marvel messing with their time line again, he's too old really.
I agree there are too many comic book movies, and I'm a comic junkie. Movies for characters that can't even support a monthly comic (like Electra) are really silly IMO. I'd rather see them go wih the less superhero-y stuff that doesn't scream Comic, like Hellboy and V for Vendetta...
I would give anything to see a Fables movie, done well.. or Sandman. (I'm under no illusions that Preacher could ever see film, but man that would be fun too)

I agree, though. If done right, Preacher would be a kick-ass movie.

I read the same thing, Joe. It's been a few years now, though, so it's hard to tell if those contracts are still valid. I have my doubts about Marsden as Custer, and I definitely think I would either prefer a group of movies filmed together, or ditch the movie in favor of an HBO or Showtime TV series...in any event, I would definitely sign up to see it.
Wildfire: Most of Marvel's characters call him "Shellhead"...he's got tons of nicknames related to his chosen attire...I think you're reading a tad much into it...=)

About Preacher...I can already get sick about typing this. Don't you know who they would probably get for the role....yep, Johnny Depp. The real "pride of Kentucky"... Ughh
Iron Man, Yeah, kinda like calling Spidey "Web Head" or Cap "wing head".

Perhaps I overreacted a bit... Marvel has done alot in the last ten years to muck with Iron Man, so I'm a bit sensitive I totally agree Preacher as an HBO series would be unbelievable... might even get me to subscribe...

I agree...Marvel has crapped all over Iron Man. Kinda makes me sick, and I'm not a big Iron Man fan.
Trav, Marsden has long been the Preacher front runner, for whatever that's worth.
Ya know, I was thinking about the comment that guys who can't support a monthly series don't need their own movies...but really, Blade fits that to a "T", and they did crank out a decent trilogy...but I'd still rather see Fury as a supporting character in, say, a Captain America movie...or Ant-Man held over for an Avengers or Fantastic Four film.

I would rather see a well done Avengers movie, than an Iron Man or even Cap.
Although a really well done Cap movie would be awesome!

Ultimate Avengers the Animated Movie isn't bad at all...makes me wish Marvel would lean more towards the animated division than the live-action, especially since they have fewer licensing issues which prevent, say, X-Men/Avengers crossovers.

You know, I rewatched part of Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD today...the script seemed very true to the comics...the only truly BAD part was the chick playing Andrea Strucker...she was SOOOOOOOOOOO hammy that she made Hasselhoff look like an Ian McKellen quality actor.
