Hey all,
I have a question, I have been a fan of the Simpsons ever since it started. I love it and Bart is the chind within in my book. I love how Lisa get into Bart's nerve and annoys him. I find how Homer tries sometimes to make Marge happy and fails nearly every time, but the point is his heart is in right place.
But I have a friend, that thinks Family guy is way better, but how can a cartoon that only had a few seasons have been better than a cartoon that is still rinning and making lots laugh.. Can someone tell me what to tell him...
Lisa
P.S. I am Bart Simpson...

I think when the Simpsons got a little more risque in the late 90's, the creators of Family Guy took it a step further. Personally, I like Family Guy a little better, but the Simpsons is still good too.

I would buy a Family Guy set before I would Simpsons. Don't get me wrong; I like the Simpsons. I just like Family Guy a lot more.

Family Guy has never, and will never, do anything that can match the brilliance of season 6 of the Simpsons (in my mind the high water mark for the show).
And that's coming from a big fan of Family Guy. While the Simpsons has lagged a bit in recent years (though not nearly as much as the Internet crowd would have you believe) it is still a solid, funny show. Family Guy has some great moments, and if it can have any sort of longevity it may get even better.

You can call me sick...or crazy.....or whatever, but.... STEWIE IS KING!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Oh yeah...and the evil monkey inside the closet is pretty darn funny too.... I bought the first two DVD box sets of Family Guy immediately upon seeing them. And, I have bought the third one, and am eagerly awaiting the fourth. I think it's an incredibly funny show and can watch most of the episodes repeatedly without ever getting sick of them. That being said...I was, am, and will forever be a fan of the Simpsons as well. They set the standard. The Simpsons formed the mold. Plus...something's gotta be said for longevity. However, I have never bought a Simpsons boxed set; whereas I felt that Family Guy was must have. I think both cartoons have their plus sides. Both are funny and risque. But, for me, it's Family Guy. ;D Peace. ~Trav "Oh mother. I come bearing a gift. It's in my diaper and it's not a toaster..." -Stewie Griffin.

The first 8 seasons of the Simpsons are superior to anything Family Guy has done. After that Family Guy at it's worst is on par with them or better. Currently Family Guy is much better than the joke the current Simpsons are.

I used to be a HUGE fan of the Simpsons, but when they are rehashing the stories for a 3rd time, welllllll...kinda old. It's just not smart anymore, probably for the last 4 years. I used to always get a good chuckle from the Simpsons, but still watch, but only out of habit.

Family Guy all the way. I have a somewhat more twisted sense of humor than most people and, granted, some things on Family Guy just make me shake my head, but I laugh a lot more at that show than I ever did at Simpsons. That being said, I am also a huge Simpsons fan and quote them regularly, but I still give the nod to Family Guy. "Cut my milk!" -Stewie

I saw this MAD Magazine that had a pretty accurate description that The Family Guy is jus ta more crude version of the Simpsons.
Just about sums it up for me.

LOL ... I LOVE Family Guy, makes me shake my head in disbelief and laugh right out loud. But, it's hard to really compare the two shows. I've always felt that the Simpsons is more a satire than a cartoon. There is always more going on in an episode of The Simpsons than meets the eye. It is an extremely clever show (especially around season 6 like someone mentioned earlier) and Family Guy, although absolutely HILARIOUS has yet to reach that level. By the way, I am toying with the idea of doing up some stats for Peter Griffin and having him fight The Chicken in a no-holds-barred, Titan Death Rules, Torture Chamber match.

Family Guy is a classic and provided it doesn't get cancelled (again) I think it will hold up to the test of time, although some of the jokes will certainly be dated.
And ,yes, I know it sounded silly me saying that "if it doesn't get cancelled" but c'mon, this show has been put to sleep twice already and came back.
Btw, Futurama is coming back too, in the form of a direct to DVD movie.

I love Simpsons. I have a bunch of their DVD's, and I still try and catch their reruns and Sunday night episodes.
I can't get into Family Guy, but that's just me.
Take care,
Jay
