Thor IS in the video, and this movie is awesome!!
I can't wait to see the sequel, not only because this is an excellent cartoon, but because the Black Panther (one of my all-time favorites) is in featured in the sequel.
Spend the $12 and get this DVD.

I've heard nothing but good things about this video. As a big Marvel fan, that's good to hear.
Why can't they ever put out a good cartoon like this. X-Men aside, all of their cartoons just plain sucked big time. Spider Man, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Hulk, Silver Surfer....they all blew it big time.

Good to hear. I will be picking it up tomorrow. I really hope that Marvel continues to make stuff like this. Any Marvel fan would surely pick it up for 12-15 bucks. Trav, I actually liked all those cartoons you listed except Silver Surfer. I guess I am easily pleased. Hey, I own the Hulk movie so go figure.

Oh ok, when the commercial came on, they mentioned everyone But Thor, but if he's in it (and especially if he's in a big part), I definitely need to scrounge some $.
Thanks for the info, Turkish and RingsYde!
Take care,
Jay

Pike, I desperately wanted to like them soooo bad, being the huge marvel fan, but they all seemed rushed and thrown together. When Spidey started that sins of the father crappy storyline, it was all downhill from there.
But, on Spidey at least they gave us some cool villains and great toys!!
I'm probably being hard though because I'm comparing them to Batman which, even as a Marvel fan, was the most well done cartoon I've ever seen.

In a recent issue of Wizard magazine, they were talking about this DVD and actually did side-by-side comparisons between the cartoon and the issues of The Ultimates comics. The scenes are very faithful to the book, so I may pick up this DVD myself. Looks pretty good to me, plus I enjoyed the comics so it'll be cool to see it animated.

This cartoon is soo worth it! Yes Thor is in it and I think most will be pleased. It is very good and I too am looking forward to UA2 since Black Panther is in it and he is one of my favourites as well.

Trav, I am a Marvel fan as well but Batman is probably my favorite super hero of all time. The Batman cartoon was awesome. I almost feel that it is unfair to compare to it because of how good it was. I did still like those other cartoons too.

I finally made it out to pick this up and it is great. I highly recommend it. Not only is the movie good though there is a nice little feature where they talk to past and present artists and writers about the avengers. Marvel plans to continue to make these animated dvd features and listed this inside Ultimate Avengers II - August 2006 Iron Man - October 2006 Doctor Strange - February 2007

I liked how they blended elements form the comic storyline into a new story. Some parts were taken directly from the pages of The Ultimates and it was interwoven into a new arc.
It was really enjoyable for me, as I am a big fan of Captain America ( the main focus of the movie) and Thor.

Just bought it this afternoon and watch it with the kids... like it a lot but 50 minutes of it was getting the group together and ten was fighting the Hulk...pretty gippy! However, cannot wait until part 2 this summer...

Other than a special trip to pick up "Crash" (which I agree is the absolute BEST movie of 2005), I just made my first trip to the video store in a couple of months and I picked up "Ultimate Avengers." I used to read The Avengers regularly and I really liked this movie. The final battle at the end between the Avengers and the Hulk was awesome! But I do wish the movie was a little longer. Still, as others said on this thread, I am eagerly awaiting the sequel which comes out this summer with the Black Panther and it definitely won't take me this long to rent it.
