I work for walmart....March 1st will be 4 yrs. Sometimes it really sucks....other times, it is a good job.
And, it does depend greatly on the store/manager you are in or have. My mother works for walmart down in southern ohio, and her store sucks...beyond anything I could ever dream up. But my store....for the most part, is a good store.

I'm saying the corporation is the devil, not each individual store. I know there are good people who work for this company, and store to store, sure, there are things that are different. Some good and some bad. I'm just saying that looking at the big picture, I feel Wal-Mart could be used as a synonym for the devil.

Well gate, you can look at this a couple ways.
I do see your point, but look at any postive sides to this.
All companies are like this. That's just a fact of life..wal-Mart, Target, all of them. But people complain about the wages the people making these products make. Just think where they'd be if they didn't. Their govt's do nothing to help them...at least this is something.
Plus, the standard of living is way below the US.
Also, do you want to see the same shirt at $13 now go up to $26?? At least companies like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. keep their prices relatively low, while companies like Abercrombie (sp), etc nearly triple those prices on the same pair of pants.
Not that it's justified, but just something to throw out

Speaking of Wal-Mart, I read today that a group of women just filed a lawsuit against them in Massachusetts because, they allege, the company is violating a state regulation that requires it to stock the morning after pill. It's a short article, but this is what I read: news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060201/ap_on_re_us/wal_mart_contraception

Not that it's justified, but just something to throw out Saying that their standard of living is way lower than the US's is a gross misconception. These people, even though they have jobs that pay them 17 cents an hour is something. But that's like saying "we'll feed you 1 cracker a day, it's still food, it's something." And, yes I wouldn't mind paying $26.00 for a shirt if it meant helping other people. And, actually they could still charge $13.00 for it and the owners of the companies could live in a house that costs $3 million instead of $30 mil. It's just gluttony. And the fact that it happens in a lot of companies does not make it OK. Owners of companies are greedy and it's starting to make me feel like we are Rome on the way down.

it's starting to make me feel like we are Rome on the way down. I agree. It won't be too much longer and we'll be toast. 50 years, maybe longer. If I'm not gone by then, when the nukes come, I'll be on my roof with a 6-pack and a pair of sunglasses.
