It's summertime, and that means movies, movies movies!!! Everytime I see an ad for Episode III, I get all tingly, and I wonder with anxious anticpation about the Fantastic Four movie. Ever since I was three years old, I've been a Batman fan, and I really like the cast and crew involved with the movie. If I had to pick just one to go see, BATMAN BEGINS would get the nod. The bad taste left in our mouths from Joel Schumacher's run needs to be cleansed, and this new take looks to do just that. Of course, Star Wars is barely six weeks away, and you gotta like Vader.

all of the buzz about Star Wars has really got me going (shameless plug: watch the Clone Wars at cartoonnetwork.com if you have't already: they rock).
F4 looks good too.

I had to go with Star Wars because it is Star Wars and I can't wait to see Anikin's heel turn!
I will be seeing the Hitchhikers Guide though...If the movie is anywhere close to the books it should be a great hit! For those of you who have never read the books, what are you waiting for?

I think Hitchiker's will be the sleeper hit of the summer, I'm reading the book now, and it's very funny. And how can you not love Sam Rockwell? That guy is awesome.
As much as I'm looking forward to that one, and Fantastic Four, if I had to pick one, it would have to be Star Wars. That's more than just a movie, it's an event.

This last Star Wars HAS to be great. They have a lot of stuff to get in since it must lead up to what was the first Stars Wars episode IV. Luke & Leia must be born and split apart; Palpatine should be revealed as being the Emperor; Anakin turns into Darth Vader!

I just finished the novel version of SW ep 3, and it does sound awesome!
I have to admid, when I first saw the ad for F4, I almost called it a cheap knockoff of The Incredibles.

I think Hitchiker's will be the sleeper hit of the summer, I'm reading the book now, and it's very funny. Good book != good movie. Especially one in which a lot of the jokes are literal (as in: written down). I'm very wary of the HHGG movie, and I didn't evne like the series that much (my choice of British parodists leans much more toward Pratchett than Adams).

Chris, Pratchett is the absolute best. nuff said. Adams has a niche though and if the movie is anything like the books, it should be okay. While I never saw the TV series, I think the technology in the movie industry now will make this worth while over what technology the TV series had available. (imho) Pete

Or, it could be overcome by that same technology... It's only one (p)review, but you might want to check this out.

Oddly, I'm looking forward to the House of 1,000 Corpses sequel called The Devil's Rejects.

Has anyone seen Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy yet? I'm interested, but I'm worried that it wont be a faithful adaptation.

So, now that half these movies have come out, anyone care to comment on their favorite so far? I'm definitely in the BATMAN BEGINS camp, and STAR WARS III is a close second. Tonite, I see LAND OF THE DEAD, and next week is WAR OF THE WORLDS. Perhaps one will change my mind, but I doubt anything will diminish my appreciation for what Nolan and Goyer did with the caped crusader.

Since May, I've seen and enjoyed the following movies: Star Wars Episode III, Kingdom of Heaven, Unleashed, Cinderella Man, and Batman Begins. I think my personal favorite of these is Cinderella Man. I think it has benn an ok summer movie season so far, especially since Sin City is the only movie from the Spring that I really liked. Tomorrow (if I am feeling better as otherwise I would have gone this afternoon) I plan on seeing Land of the Dead. I consider the original Day of the Dead from the late 1970s to be among the best horror movies ever (I seriously rank it alongside horror classics such as "Silence of the Lambs", "Alien", "Psycho," and "Halloween.")

Oh yeah, I meant to ask whether anyone has seen The Longest Yard? I am trying to decide if I should see it in the theater or wait to rent it on DVD.

Whoops, major mistake in an earlier post from me! I meant to write that "Dawn of the Dead" (not "Day of the Dead') from the late 1970s is one of the greatest horror movies of all time. While, I consider "Day of the Dead" from the mid 1980s certainly worth seeing, I think it is definitly a notch or so below the previous films- "Night of the Living Dead" and "Dawn of the Dead"- in the series.

I saw THE LONGEST YARD, and while I thought it was good, I also felt like I would've enjoyed it better at home on DVD. No big loss in not seeing it at the theatre.

Batman was truly awesome, but I know if I had Star Wars at home, I would have watched it like seven times by now.
Where as I do not feel the need to do that with Batman.

I'm in exact opposition. I could watch Batman numerous times, but I'm more than willing not to see Star Wars again until after it releases on DVD. Even then. I'll watch it a few times and shelve it with my other stuff.
There's so much stuff in Batman Begins that I notice something new or unique every time I see it. That and a great story (and the fact that Batman is my all-time favorite comics character) keep me coming back to it.

Great story that they took their time to tell. Great action. I have absolutely no complaints at all (I am a big fan of Captain America, so there is a little grudge against Bats to begin with). I do find it weird that I would have watched the film I consider not the better of the two more repeatedly.
