Just got back from seeing it- WOW! Amazing work done on Doc Ock- His arms were awesome! They also fleshed out the Character so he was an actual person and not just your typical villian. Also the stage is set for the final chapter. JJJ also has more scren time- which is a big plus
Great movie, awesome fights, Get your tickets now!

I went to see it last night. I thought it was incredible! The Spider-Man movies are by far my favorite films based on a comic series. I am, however, slightly disappointed that it appears there will be no Venom or Carnage unless the series has a fourth installment. Overall, it was an excellent movie with a great set-up for Spider-Man 3.

Something I was watching on VH1 last Sunday mentioned that Sony would like to have Spidey be a SIX part series, not just three.
Something to keep in mind.

Most series seem to run their course by three, but I think this could be an exception. That would give Sam Raimi a chance to introduce Venom and Carnage, and perhaps other characters who have been introduced in Spidey books such as Morbius or Gwen Stacy.

The Venom buildup would have to have started in movie one. Too much to intoduce in one movie. I actually would like to see more classic villians the Scorpion, the Hobgoblin, the Rhino, Sandman, Mysterio, the Lizard before they have Venom.

Just a quick note, spoilers included if you haven't seen the film. I saw it at midnight on Wen. Loved it from frame one. All this talk of villians in the third movie has lead me to realize that there are about three potential villians set up by this film. The first is of course Harry Osbourn as the Green Goblin. I think this is a given. The second is the Lizard, Dr. Conners was Peter's professor in the film. Also Man-Wolf, with John Jameson. Any would make good cinema, but I'm with the world on the Carnage/Venom thing. WE WANT CARNAGE IN NYC ON TEH BIG SCREEN!

To go along with some of Raimi's cahnges, I could see Harry becoming the Hobgoblin. You could also include the Scorpion on that list, as he was hired by JJJ. A long shot but possible.

We saw the movie last night. Awesome! Just one question though, since my Spiderman knowledge is limited. Didn't Harry Osburn become the Hobgoblin instead of taking his father's complete identity? Or was that someone else?
Can't wait for #3!

Or was that someone else? Can't wait for #3! Jay No, Harry became the Second Green Goblin. He fights with the knowledge of the Spiderman/ Peter Parker connection. He threatens to tell, buit never does. Ned Leeds, a reporter at the Daily Bugle, found an old cache of Green Goblin weapons. He became the Hobgoblin. he was killed by (?) Macendale, the old Jack O'Lantern who assumede the new Hobgoblin role. Macendale has subsequently been killed and replaced, by whom, I do not know.

Okay thanks Turk. I can see the knowledge being a major advantage for Harry since he doesn't have his dad's strength and agility (unless he recreates the experiment). The countdown to #3 beings!
Oh yeah, what was the point of the skinny girl offering Peter some cake? It seemed to do absolutely nothing in the movie. I did half expect her to walk in at the end when MJ was talking to Peter, revealing that Peter was making new friends, but it never happened. Anyone know?
Thanks,
Jay

The Venom buildup would have to have started in movie one. Too much to intoduce in one movie. I haven't seen 2 yet (because I abhor stupidly huge crowds -- we caught The Terminal this weekend instead), but the first movie did feature an off-handed comment about Eddie Brock. Does that count?

Saw it this weekend...and I was a bit disappointed.
My ratings of the semi-recent Marvel movies...
X2 Spider-Man X-Men Spider-Man 2 . . . Hulk
I did notice that some of the long range effects looked...hum...funny. I couldn't really ID the process they were using but the web swinging sequences looked...'toy-ish'.
The plot seemed to drag and there seemed to be much less 'fun being had' in this one. Little quips...few 'landmark' moments (except for the subway).

I took a break from GalactiCon preparations and saw Spiderman 2 last night. I enjoyed it more than the first movie. The character development was solid and provides many interesting implications for the next movie.
Spiderman 2 reminded me of Superman 2 in that the sequel was better than the first one.
I think the movie teased a Lizard and Green Goblin (or Hobgoblin) team up for part 3.

Most series seem to run their course by three, but I think this could be an exception. That would give Sam Raimi a chance to introduce Venom and Carnage. I really hope you're right, Joe. I remember hearing somewhere that Sam Raimi hates Vemon, because of the whole Secret Wars saga. He said that he wasn't a fan of cosmic Spidey. I hope that's just internet rumor, because I'd love to see some form of the black suit come into play. (I actaully was the .000001% that thought the black costume was cooler than the traditional red and blues. I know, I know...blasphemy...) Maybe someone could slip Raimi the Ultimate Spiderman version of Venom's origin. It's more believible and easier to tweak into something like the Venom/alien hitched a ride on JJJ kid's rocket ship to Earth and take it from there. Anyways, Spidey 2 was a great movie! Much better than the first one. Marvel's been kicking tail with their recent movies... X-Men 1 and 2, Dare Devil, Spiderman 1 and 2 (notice I left out the Hulk... bleech). DC better start pulling some quality control antics with their movies. Cat-woman?!? C'mon... My hopes for a good DC movie are hanging on the new Batman. BTW, anyone hear anything about the Green Lantern movie starring Jack Black? Now, I like Jack, but GL as a comedy? *groan*

Anyways, Spidey 2 was a great movie! Much better than the first one. Marvel's been kicking tail with their recent movies... X-Men 1 and 2, Dare Devil, Spiderman 1 and 2 (notice I left out the Hulk... bleech). You also missed both Blade movies (neither of which I've seen, but I hear good things about them). You probably intentionally left out Punisher as well. Finally saw Spidey 2 today -- no more needs to be said about it, really. Two particular things I did find amusing, though: 1) "If you want him, you'll have to go through [us]." For me, that bit was right up there with the first movie's "...you never know when some psychopath will come along with a sadistic choice" speech. 2) Stan Lee's cameo. He had one in the first movie as well, if you didn't catch it.

Yep, I did forget the Blade movies which I liked a lot. I didn't see the Punisher, but my friends and co-workers (who are standing over my shoulder as I type this ) told me nothing but good things about it. I'll have to rent it and judge for myself.

Hi, Adam Smasher here, having trouble loging on but posting anyway. I saw Punisher (again at Midnight the day of it's release, what is it with me and midnight screenings? X-Men, Hulk, Daredevil, Punisher, Spiderman, Spidy 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, all at 12 am. GO NIGHT OWLS!) and I loved it. Forget Doulph Lounden or whatever his name was, this movie was great! Very close to the comic, though they did change locations from NYC to Florida, (which I thought actually helped the film, NYC has enough heroes) they had it all. And the fact that the actor in the title role (I forget his name off the top of my head) played it so well with a great steelly eyed soulless gaze made me shudder. To do what he did and not blink, it scared me a little. And I'm a hard guy to scare, I can watch Ghostbusters in the dark! Though I can't watch a frame of Pete's Dragon - don't ask, don't ask. Anyway, I tell all fans of Marvel in any way to see the Punisher, it's bloody, violent, explosive and has more sick twists then a Pepto-Bismal convention. A roliking good time for the whole family!
And BTW, am I the only person on the planet who LIKED the Hulk film? I HATED THE TV SHOW AND THE MOVIE KICKED TUSH! There I said it! Go read the comic, you'll like the movie so much more. HULK SMASH PUNEY CRITICS!
