IWA...? Still Mail In?

Forgive me if this has been posted...I am sure it has, but being a newbie (old newbie) I get a bye on this one...IWA...I remember this guy advertising in PWI back in the day when I bought my first COTG...what's the gig, did his game get any better? I did mail in once, made a guy called Sammy Boychuck...real excited then I got a notice in the mail saying he lost by shoulder breaker or some thing.

Has anyone kept up with this guy? Is it anymore advanced?

Its still around & active. You still pay for everything but still get free matches from them every so often. They actually have a website now. IWA Home Page Check it out if you're still interested.

had a lot of fun with this. I know its still mail in as of 2 years ago. I really enjoyed it as the anticipation of going to the mail box to see how I did was always pretty cool.

I do know the guy who founded it passed away not too long ago.

I just sent in my $3! LOL I did it once when I was a kid. Got the results back and lost every match if I remember correctly. It'll be fun for a month or so.

Yeah, I joined one and one of my brothers joined a couple. Never did win anything, and I never really felt like paying a lot of money for it but the newsletters were pretty cool.

Ya know I knew about 20 people or so who went in or knew of who went in...and I have yet to hear of anyone who even won a match....weird....

I actually did alright with it. never won any of the trophies but had agood W-L and had fun trash talking the people.

I just got back my results! I'm 10-0 in the league! Just filled out my match sheets for 20 more matches just for fun. Anyone else in? I'm in the Iron Cross League as The California Bodyguard. If anyone else is in we could form a stable called COTG.

I'm one of the most known players in this game. Currently considered 18th overall all-time and a 2 time World Champ. Check the IWA Reports, you'll see me listed almost every cycle as The Smooth One Jeff Manning. Anybody looking for any help, friends, stables, or league info, etc. Hit me up. The Report that's posted my ladies took US Six Woman's and the upcoming report I already have World Six on lock.

Oh yeah, and to let you guys know Johnny B did pass away about 2 years ago I believe. We sent our condolences and his son has been running the game for awhile now, he took over when his dad got ill. The game is primarily through the mail still, not much has changed since my first stint there in 1997-2000. I came back start of 2006 and now they have a secretary named Kim that is excellent and will take your matches, payments, and strats via email. Also the online website releases early results, in case the anticipation kills you too much to wait for the envelope in the mail. Its still a great game, but it depends on what league your wrestler is in and whether you're sheerly there for competition or angle based. I can recommend leagues for angle-based or I can teach you how to win big, either/or.

Gosh... I had a run in the IWA about 20 years ago as "Bad Boy Roy". I even did a regular feature for the IWA Newsletter called "Roy's Rap". I managed enough success that at one point I won a regional championship and received a trophy, which I still have. Beyond that, I am clueless as to how the mechanics of the game worked. LOL

I had trouble figuring out where the holds were gonna be valued at each month. I had a few regional titles, but that's about it. Found COTG and never went back. Thought about playing again, then remembered how cheated I felt after I realized I wasn't getting anything out of it but my name on a piece of paper.

Well I got the feeling from my first newsletter that I'm the very bottom league. That suits me fine. However, you want to teach me the secrets I'm all ears. All I can see is that it's random.

I played this back in 1988 and they just quit sending me anything even after a paid for a few more matches, so I just stopped.

Its not completely random, thats a commom misconception. I'm known for having the most detailed Hold Values Charts in the game. Let me know what fed you're in and I'll give you the basics of what to look for. Also, they do have a proboards, but be warned this is a game of competition, not friendly like CotG. If you post on the board be ready to deal with some a-holes. But I figured, if you're going to play the game, might as well know the community. I post as The Smooth One. Anything goes on this board, so beware.

Jmello, thanks for the link...and yes it is true...most forums on anything these days have a**holes that just get rude and usually don't bother answering the questions you do have...lol...
