Cool! Let me know how it is I'll probably wait until the price drops, and my PS2 breaks to get one, but I feel like there hasn't been much buzz of late, which makes me wonder...

I think it's been a rough start....the 360, with its head start, is the top dog right now, but the Wii made all the other headlines and is doing crazy sales. Production woes, overprice, and Sony having their heads up their rear ends seem to have all resulted in the PS3 stumbling out of the gate.
As soon as I can afford to do so (I'm targeting June), I'm getting a 360 at long last.

PS3 needs some more games. I know 360 didn't have a ton at the beginning but the PS3 is really playing catch up right now and they will never get there without alot of good games.

Time for initial impressions!
Backwards compatibility has worked like a charm on everything I've tried so far, which is great, and I'll never have to worry about finding another stinking PS1 memory card for Final Fantasy VII again, which is a plus.
The media capabilities of the box are excellent, I'm working on ripping a stack of CDs as I work this morning. They also make getting demos, new content, etc extremely easy.
I love the fact that the interface is the same as on the PSP. That makes me smile.
I've got two games, Armored Core 4 and MotorStorm. I recommend the former if you're a fan of the Armored Core series or mecha games in general, but it's pretty in-depth with mech construction and not for the casual gamer. MotorStorm is for anyone who likes racing games or big explosions, and I recommend it to anyone. Great graphics, great gameplay, and a good soundtrack.
Anyone else have one? I need to get some more people on my friends list. My ID is BigDaddySwank if anyone wants to add me.

When i have the time to spare (I have the money, that's not the problem ) and they put out a must have, I'll get one...Time is the big thing though...I have a shelf full of (PS2) games I've not played more than once, and sequels to those games keep coming out...I have to somehow justify buying Romance of Three Kingdoms XI, and I've already ruled out FFXII, which sucks because I really wanted to play it... Point is, I don't have time to play games I've owned for months (years??) so unless they put out something truly awesome (GTA4 perhaps) I can't do it... When I do though, I'll post here while it's setting up and give you my name etc. (as if you didn't already know what it was ;D) ...

Will NCAA College Football 2008 and Madden 2008 be on PS3. If yes, I will buy it then.

I'm sure Madden 2008 will be on it, and I'd imagine the college game will, too. And they'll be spectacular.

I'd highly recommend getting Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion when it comes out for the PS3. It is without a doubt my favorite game of all time.

Yeah, all the reviews seemed to indicate that Madden went all-out on appearance but totally skimped on features, especially franchise-related. If they do that again this year, I'll be sorely disappointed. The graphics are important and all, but I'd take more options and details than just a pretty face. As for Oblivion, that will be the FIRST game that I buy when I get the 360. Morrowind was awesome, and this sounds far better.

Aquinas,
I know so people don't like getting the guides but I would suggest them. I used one and still had 150 hrs of gameplay.

Oblivion rocks the house - just got it yesterday. It's good stuff. I played all three of the previous Elder Scrolls games over the past decade or so, so I've always liked the series. They've done a good job of refining what makes TES rock with each iteration.
So now I've probably got everything I'm going to have until Metal Gear Solid 4 or Final Fantasy XIII come out, whichever one happens to drop first.

Heh heh heh ... and I wrote about that before I actually went to Oblivion for the first time in the game. That blew me away. Yeah, it's kind of derivative of Mordor with its black, broken ground, fire, and ridiculously tall spires, but friggin' wow. That couldn't have been any better.
I'm going through the game without one of the guides, and I think I'm going to have more fun because of it. The shock of actually running through the Oblivion gate and seeing what was on the other side, then going "oh crap, this was a bad idea," was worth the cost of the game by itself. It's a masterpiece.

The guides really help though. There is so much crap to do. I may go back someday as I did not do anything in the thief and dark brotherhood guilds and did not finish all the side missions.

All is right with my gaming world. Metal Gear Solid 4 was confirmed to be PS3 only by Kojima some time ago, and Final Fantasy XIII was shown as PS3 only at Square-Enix's little party this weekend. Since those games are the reason I bought the system, this makes me a happy BDS.

I passed on getting one until they upgrade the graphics for Madden. From what I've been told there is zero difference in graphics on this game between PS2 and PS3.

I'm actually looking forward to the new Madden. I figure Manning will have a 99 in the "Being Better Than Everyone Else" rating.
