I'm playing Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow right now and it's cool and only 20 bucks! Animal Crossing is great too

Other than that, what kind of games do you like? The DS has a large assortment of excellent titles, but your tastes will play a role in which ones I suggest.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney. A unique and fun lawyer sim.
Mario Kart DS: If you are a fan of the series then you'll love this.
Wario Ware: Should be cheap now and it's a good laugh in quick bursts.
Advance Wars DS: Play this and you'll say goodbye to your life.
New Super Mario Bros: Again, if you're a fan of the Mario platformers, this will be a treat.
It's odd that there's not much first-person shooters or strategy games for the DS when those types of games would fit in easily with the console.
