When I GM'd Marvel I really used REAL LIFE in my world, my friends got pissed alot... but they loved how nasty I was with the villians. One villian I created was a Wolverine type character who can turn invisible and his name was CLW (Claw).

My hubby is a big Rpg gamer. So I have tried to get into D&D and M&M, but found I was lead towards the D20 modern games and I have DM a few times and love it.
The after GenCon he intro duced me into the RIft and Pall books. I feel I am going to like it. My favorite type of character to play are crazies, juicers and any with boi parts or borgs.. I like any with a little bit crazy... and I am so into tech OCC characters..

I'm trying to get Pittbull to run Rifts again...I'm failing, but I have piqued his interest in the Rifts: Ultimate Edition (great improvement by the way)...If we were going to play, I'm giving thought to this idea: Depending on what kind of pcharacter the other person/people make, I play a Robot Pilot (New Rifts UE OCC which allows for the selection of any Robot common to north America as standard equipment) and take a Behemoth Explorer 'Bot as my vehicle of choice. We would travel disquised as an explorer vehicle and stay on the good side of the Coalition as long as possible (maybe hang out in Canada)... I think having a mobile HQ would be really cool, and it would be even better if the others played Adventurers like Rogue Scholars/Scientists, Cyber Docs, Fixers, Operators etc. or even Techno Wizards...Anything that requires a lot of equipment that we can have their own little bay on the Explorer...Best case scenario would be like, a Glitterboy (or PA Pilot)/Operator combo, or a Borg/Cyber Doc, or even Juicer/body Fixer...The Former would be the main muscle to keep the Explorer safe, and the latter would keep the muscle going... Anyway, still convincing him to run it though...

There were several upgrades including a much needed redo of the skill system. I've not got the book memorized or I'd mention more.

The Ultimate Ed book has a lot more than the previous book dont.. I glad I talked my hubby X Master to get it....

Rifts Ultimate is a lot more comprehensive for starters...Each OCC has been tweaked/modified/improved to some extent...ALL of them have OCC bonuses (to attributes, SDC, strike/parry/dodge, saves etc.) and all the Scholars/Adventurers got extra powers/skills/abilities to set them apart from one another...You'll recall, the only difference between a Rogue Scholar and a Wilderness Scout was their skills and equipment...No longer... A lot of info was included and expanded upon from Sourcebook and Conversion Book 1...Superhuman attributes, hit locations, MDC vs. SDC, Augmented/Robot/Supernatural stregnth damage etc. has all been main-booked...Skills are better displayed, and from what I've seen the combat system has been streamlined, or at least better explained...Also missiles have been reworked, and now are far deadlier...I never liked the original missiles, because if you started with a robot with 6 Medium Range Missiles, they only did 2D6x10 damage, and they cost about 10,000 credits+ to replace...So much better now... The biggest thing though is the OCCs...Each one almost has it's own section now, and are much improved...Borgs for example, are now Full Conversion only, and all the Bionics are placed in the Borg section...Headhunters are now all Partial Reconstruction Cyborgs and the Cybernetics are in that section...Cyber Knights got upgraded, all the Magic OCCs got upgrades and the Burster (one of my favorites) got a big boost as well...All this and new OCCs besides, as well as a listing of similar OCCs from other books for each one... Overall, a huge improvement...

Getting very close to running this, however Dungeons & Zombies, Farscape and Serenity are on my "to do list" not to mention running my Marvel vs Capcom 2-Marvel Universe rpg game and a Lord of the Rings adapted to Uni-system games as well. However, it may just happen if there is interest.

Palladium is based in Michigan. So we have a hobby shop near me that litteraly has tons of Rift's stuff. The books, little Rifts figures. All kinds of crap. When I played I would spend hours in the shop just chillin.

Check out this funniness...If he does decide to run it, I can make my Ultimate Edition Robot Pilot, but I can't have my Behemoth (despite it's fair availability)...Nope, if I make one I MUST take the Hunter Mobile Gun robot from Sourcebook 1...This may also be a requirement for him to run the game.... Alas...

The only problem is I don't have any ultimate edition books. Just the regular edition world & scourcebooks.
And I'd probably end up being a character that wouldn't fit in with anybody in the group.
Like a gunslinger or something out there like that. heh heh.

That's okay...The Ultimate Edition was merely a cleanup...They didn't change anything in the gameplay, and they didn't make any changes that would alter any content in the other books...it's not like what Wizards did with D&D 3.5 where they changed all the rules and made you buy the $50.00 main books again...Nor did they make changes that would base all of their future releases on the Ultimate Edition...In short, you don't need the Ultimate Edition, it's just really cool to have... Also, If we're talking about a Pittbull-run game, it would be based in North America...That would mean your options would be: The Main Book (naturally) Sourcebook 1 Coalition Navy Bionics Sourcebook Mercenaries Merc Ops Merctown And Worldbooks: Vampire Kingdoms Juicer Uprising Coalition War Campaign Psyscape Lone Star New West Spirit West Federation of Magic Canada Free Quebec Xiticix Invasion Dinosaur Swamp Coalition Wars 1-6 In addition to the "universal" books, such as Conversion book 1, Game Masters Guide, Adventure Guides, Book of Magic etc.. Of those, we have access to all of them except: Book of magic Merctown Merc Ops Juicer Uprising Spirit West Dinosaur Swamp... So yeah, if you have New West, you could totally make a Gunslinger... And also, if you wanted to make something form the main book (i.e. Wilderness Scout, or Glitter Boy) I would totally provide you with any additions/changes form the Ultimate Edition if you wanted...

I have most of the books you mentioned including Underseas and Rifts Japan(which is a totally cool world book IMO).
Man..I haven't created a character for the game in so long. Its so complicated. It's an entire afternoon of work, unlike D&D which would take me about an hour or less.
Thats why I don't do D&D anymore..I have the 3rd edition core books but never felt the need to poney up more money for the updated books.
Also, i'd consider creating a Preacher. Mostly because the pic in the new west book is so cool.
I'd go with the fire and brimstone style Preacher of course.:-)
