Awesome to see some other SWM players! I picked up only one pack of Bounty Hunters so far (budget's a little tight), but I got Zuckuss and the Nikto Gunner on Desert Skiff for my troubles. I think I might have to dust off some Fringers and put together a Jabba's Palace squad. OK, I see alot of posts in this thread...Im a Hero Clix fan ( I use a Doctor Doom team that is undefeated thus far) and wonder how this rates...is it better than Hero Clix...Im a major Star Wars geek too...no shame I have over 400 Heroclix that collect dust now. Mainly, for me, Heroclix rules were clunky, which made for clunky battles. The arguemnets over stealth, and line of sight and range were bad. The limit of new powers was sort of annoying as well. Set retirement killed it. I understand the Firelord was totally "borken" but still, I cannot understand the logic of retiring en entire set for one character or just to produce a newer verison of a figure to be competitive with powercreeping of the game. Distribution was awful- for 8 bucks I get 2 rookies and 2 experienced figures? Come on! That's horrible. At least with Star Wars, I KNOW I am getting at least a Rare figure in every box. I also like the paint jobs and sculpts for Star Wars better. I love comics much more than Star Wars, but there is no comparison between the two mini games. If Wizards ever got a hold of Marvel for a minis game, I would be all over that.

No doubt...In the mean time, there's always that Fantasy Flight one coming out... Heroclix did have a bunch of issues, but it was fun when we played it...We love our Hero games too... Star Wars minis is a lot of fun...A friend and I were playing through the Ultimate missions books, well, the first one anyhow...The other two we can't really do until we get the required Clone Strike minis...plus, I don't think we actually made it off the Tantive IV anyway...

I was at a toys r us today and was looking at the Star Wars stuff and didn't see any of these figures. I saw some small 4 packs of clone troopers and wookies but the packaging didn't look like the ones from the link. Are these Miniatrues only available at hobby stores like Warhammer, or was I just not looking close enough?

They are mainly available in game and hobby stores.
Some lucky people have them in WalMarts and similar stores- usually a few dollars cheaper.
This game has a few issues, but I really think Wizards looked at Wizkids' games and said "Okay, what can we do better?" For the most part, I think they succeeded.

Beyond that, the bare-bones of the system is ridiculously simple...it can get complicated with certain special abilites interacting, but it's really easy to figure out...Pretty much the most complicated part is targeting....

I've been checking out prices on some of the Star Wars mini's. I figured I could talk some of my friends into playing (I'll just have to buy everything). I just got a Clone Strike Starter off of ebay for 20 bucks, and everyone's selling them at $30 or more not including shipping. What where the coolest sets in your guys opinion? Before I start buying some boosters I'd love to hear your guys opinions.

if you're a New hope-Return of the Jedi fan, Rebel Storm is THE set...I'm pretty sure it's still available...
Clone Strike you can forget about, it's been out of production for a long time, and not really worth trying to get...Congrats on the Starter...That was a rare find...
Revenge of the Sith, is a great set as well...Lots of Clones, lots of Jedi, lots of Droids...Lots or Phantom Menace - Revenge, although naturally, it's based on Revenge of the Sith...
Universe was met with mixed reaction...The boosters are slightly more expensive, due to the fact that you get a Huge sized figure in each pack, and it's predominantly Expanded Universe...The bonus is, it's got a bit of everthing...AT-ST's and the Rancor are great, along with a lot of the more dominating non-jedi pieces (Han Solo, Nom Anor, Grand Admiral Thrawn for example)...Also features the most powerful Vader (Jedi hunter; 75 points) and Luke (Jedi Master; 74 points, from Jedi Academy)...
Champions of the Force: More lightsabers than you will ever see in another set...If Jedi and Sith are your thing, this is the set...All the prominant uber-powered Force Users make an appearance, including but not limited to: Yoda (Dagobah variant), Mace Windu (his most powerful), Darth Maul and Qui-Gon (since you can't get them out of Clone Strike anymore), Darth Bane and Exar Kun...
Bouty Hunters: This is possibly my new favorite set after Rebel Storm...They really stepped up their sculpts, and the minis look great...Also, it features all the main characters again (Han, Leia, Luke et al) and they're really good..Plus all the bounty hunters (except poor Greedo) got upgrades...Again, it's another Huge set like Universe, so the packs will be slightly more expensive, but if you're a Fringe fan, this'll be your set...
Hope that helps out...As always, if there's anything you want me to expand on, lemme know...

Thanks Splattercat!! I noticed that Clone Strike was the most expensive out of all the sets so I went after the starter. Luckily for me the person I got it from listed it wrong (he spelled miniatures wrong) so only one other person was bidding on it. Is the Clone Strike set bad or is it just hard to find?
I think I'm going to start with Champions and maybe some Bounty Hunters boosters first.

Clone Strike is actually an awesome set...Some of the most coveted pieces are in it...However the game was young at the time, and after it went out of production, it never came back...Wizards has that bad habit...
naturally they brought back Rebel Storm because of all the Original Trilogy hype right now...
There's also the Attack On Endor pack (comes with an AT-ST, Storm Troopers, maps, and special missions/scenarios based mostly on the universe set) and AT-AT (better for show than play) if you're interested...
Was there any like, genre or faction you were interested in, or were you just wanting to start..? If the latter, Champions and Bounty Hunters will serve you well...

I have to disagree with Splattercat in one regard: Rebelstorm. Don't waste your time with it past the starter. The pieces from Rebelstorm are so far behind on the metagame curve that they can't compete with the later sets. Believe me, I've tried. If you're a fan of the original trilogy characters, you're better off going after the versions from the latter sets(i.e. Universe and Bounty Hunters). There are some that haven't been reprinted yet (Jabba being the main one to come to mind), but really the later ones are much more competitive.

yeah I'm basically just starting up. I've browsed through the rules on the WOTC site, and don't really have a certain affiliation that I'm looking for. I liked the jedi characters and the bounty hunter character abilities so I thought I's start there.
Behindthebook, I saw on another site about Rebel Storm being a bit weak compared to the others. Thanks for the input.
Now I just have to wait on my stuff to get here, and convice one of my friends to play!!

Thank you behindthebook, for the clarification...nothing I like worse than bad advice...

I was lucky to get first run Darth Maul from Clone Strike from the boxes I ordered from Amazon! I found Champions of the Force to have the most useful pieces and there fore think that was the best set. Figures in this set really tended to help make other , older pieces useless (Jedi Weapon Master vs all other RotS and Clone Strike Jedi, Republic Commandos vs clone troopers.) Great Assortment of Llightsaber- characters. Great New Darth Maul. New Factions are good; I am a big fan of the Sith. That was a great CS starter find for $20. And Clone Strike is supposed to be reprint for a very limited US run some time before the end of the year. Bounty Hunters is a good expansion. I like the large number of playable figures. Most of the figures are useful. Mandalorians are a nice addition. In all each set has good points and low points. Rebel Storm, Champions, Bounty Hunters, and some Universe are still in print. Get some from all.

I have many commons and Uncommons I would not mind trading- I have figures mainly for utility and not to complete sets or just to have. I would not mind trading a whole bunch of Uncommons or commons for a rare or something. Right now, I am looking for a Nym so if ya get one you want to get rid of let me know!
And definitely get the boosters at Target/ Walmart/ Kmart/ Big Lots,. etc. They will be much cheaper.

Yeah when I buy one or two I definetly get them at Target. I'm waiting for my wholesale guy to get them in stock. He usually has them for 6.95 a booster (a little more for Universe and Clone Strike). So I'll buy a few cases from him when they get in.
Again, Thanks guys for all the input and advice.
