In the end, I keep remembering all the bad stuff. The flame wars, especially. It is true that a lot of people were trying to out-do each other. I can't say I wasn't one of them. But, that's kind of the trap. People go into e-wrestling treating it as competition more than anything else, when there could've been more cooperation. From all that came the flames, the politics and the 'in-crowds'. When I come home from work, I'd like to unwind, not deal with another intense source of stress. So, I recently just plugged in the old Smackdown game from 2000 into the PS2, made a created wrestler based on my main e-wrestler and got a fix that way. It'd been years. Even the old memory card was still working. Some of my old created PPVs from 2002-2003 were still on it.

It's interesting hearing everyone talking about how RP's used to be a couple paragraphs, and all that... For me, I tried out E-feds in 1996, and sucked haaaard. I didn't try another until about 1998 when I joined a friend's fed, and then I just slowly expanded from there. I remember seeing people doing small RP's, but from the get go I was doing multiple page stuff with my character James Goodwin, who at the time was called "Fireman" ... Don't laugh. It's been mocked enough. He was basicly Kane before Kane was around, controlled fire, and was an evil sadistic poetic style monster. I basicly made it my staple to enter a fed, win the big title within a few weeks, then leave the fed basicly crippling it. I was a bastard. I did that to atleast five feds from what I remember. Then I settled down in the old Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling fed, which was pretty much the main reason people do Promo style Japanese feds now. I had a couple stays there, did a couple more e-feds with Goodwin, and have pretty much retired as a handler. If you guys are waxing for old rp's with only a few paragraphs, you should give Promo * Japan a look. It's basicly that, only named "Promo style" and handled a bit differently. Promo's usually do not go beyond a page or two, if that. Only problem is, you have to have atleast some knowlege of Japanese pro-wrestling, and be willing to learn the style. You can't just come in doing that (fade in camera) "Speaking portion" (fade out) stuff. Beyond that, it's a challenging style that changes the rules up a bit. www.jimsardonic.com/projpn/index.htmand that my friends, is a good ole fashioned shill, with some content thrown in for good measure!

I ran an efed twice and both times it was soooo much fun! BUT I ran out of time and with all the creative juices here on these boards, if we all got together then I know we could have a great fun and long lasting one but I am sure it wont happen...

If I saw enough interest. Say 8-10 people here that wanted to do one I'd be willing to book a studio styled squash fed.

I tried out the e-fed wold a little in 2000. It was, overall, not a positive experience. I joined a promo based league, I'd cut a killer promo on someone with my Japanese team and their translator/manager, then get beat by stuff like the Goldberg clone with promos like "yur japaneze and i hate japaneze food so i'm gonna kik u bak to japan". It just didn't seem like it was being run very objectively. Then there were the flames and other nonsense like some other noted.
I'd be willing to give it another try if the guys from these boards were involved. Count me interested.

I was in an efed for 2 weeks. I really enjoyed the promos and roleplaying. Then I read the results and was pretty disgusted to find the guy running it filling everything with racist comments. I left and never went back to it. If Mad Dog gets something going I might be interested. At least I know Mad Dog is a good guy and not a KKK member like that last guy

Here's the link to the board. It's still a work in progress but you can get your character applications in and maybe we can get the first show out this week if all goes well. z9.invisionfree.com/USWF/index.php?

I signed up for what amounted to an e-fed using the Know Your Role RPG as the sim engine. It went under pretty quick, though. That's be kind of a cool set-up to run with for a fed, IMHO.

I joined Mad Dog's group and I'm hoping a few more guys from here will join in. We've got some good promo guys here judging by some of the fed forum results, so I think it could be fun. A whole different experience than the "public leagues" full of immature kids who ruin it for everyone.

I was in a couple, mainly playing comic characters I had created in high school. I basically got done with it when my happy midcard guy got a push from the Fed's owner. All well and good. But then he had a heel kidnap my girlfriend/manager and wanted me to do the match to win her back. I told him I really had a problem with angles like that, that I couldn't enjoy a story where I was gambling a human life on a sporting event. The logical thing to me was to call the cops. I guess I just can't suspend my disbelief that far, but I hate when girls are bet in matches like property.
So I was booted for being problematic and others told me he buried my character and kept the girl (a character I had created some ten years before) as a major part of the fed.
The only thing I took away from the experiance was a friend saying that this must be what it's like when a real wrestler has the option of doing a bad storyline or not wrestling.
