Well...I am ALMOST sold on getting this. But, I wonder...does anyone here (looking at you Cindy!!) have any deep thoughts about the game?
It looks great, and it sounds like it plays incredibly great....but...just something keeps me from getting it...

Deep thoughts? Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. First of all, this game, more than any other I've ever played, rewards players for thinking ahead. When selecting strategy cards each turn, you really have to consider what you're going to be doing. Players who think ahead will have a big advantage. I also like how resources are handled. Past editions of the game included a million of these annoying "money chits" that you had to mess with. This time, whenever your empire takes control of a planet, you are given a card for said planet. By rotating it, you can spend the resources that it offers. Kind of like mana in Magic: the Gathering. Technology is handled in a similar fashion. You can advance your empire's technology in various areas. Each time you do, you are given a little card that tells what the new technology can do for you. There's some fantastic stuff in there that completely changes the scope of the game (teleportation technology, anyone?). Here's something else that's truly nice. There's hardly any down time at all. The turn structure is set up so that most everything is carried out simultaneously between players. This means that you don't have to wait forever while the opponents "take their turns". Lastly, I want to mention that diplomacy and politics are at least as important as combat. It has rules for trade agreements, treaties, law-making, and council meetings. This adds an entirely different element to the game, which is refreshing. And who doesn't salivate at the chance to use a War Sun (which is essentially a Death Star rip-off). And the board changes with every game. And the races each have awesome special rules. And the components are extremely well-made. And the... well, as you can see, I could go on and on about how incredible Twilight Imperium 3 is. I honestly don't think you'll regret purchasing it.

man, this game sounds incredible.....
I think though, there were 2 reasons keeping me from actually buying it.....
1. the cost.
Very expensive (50 - 80 bucks...although, with tax money, that won't be too much of a problem
2. nobody to really play it with
I guess I would just have to abduct someone (lol)
I think I will go on and purchase it....the other game I was looking at was Descent, but I think this one looks better....
Thanks
Chris

I can say, however, that you really do get your money's worth with Fantasy Flight's massive games. There are several groups playing it via email, though I'm not sure how this would work.

This game is amazing and I had picked it up when it had come out and yes it is a large chunk of change but is well worth it. Since it takes several hours to play I suggest putting aside some time or planning a day where you and your friends can really put some time into playing it out. In my experience with this game it takes quite awhile to play especially if you have players who take forever to decided what they are going to do, even when they had several players turns to figure out their move(s).
