. . . . an X Box 360?
I know this is a heavily PS2 / Nintendo crowd, but certainly someone else out there got a 360.
I have to say I'm blown away by the machine, Perfect Dark Zero, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Call of Duty 2. These three games are pretty close to gaming nirvana, and the 360 is one powerful beast of a machine.
I also picked up Madden 2006 (I'd give it 7 out of 10 because it's a mediocre offering that mixes great graphics and awesome playcalling with so-so controls and lacking options), NBA Live 2006 (can you say "the first and most often traded in 360 game - big disappointment, here), an extra wireless controller and two play & charge kits. Wireless is definitely the way to go, and I can't begin to tell you how much better the new controllers are.
I want to compare notes with others who got the system. What games did you get, and what do you like / dislike?

I didn't!
But only because I tend to not buy new systems...just can't justify the money with the launch titles, usually.
That is to say, I have a big interest in X-Box 360...just not enough of one to spring for one yet.
Now, I am looking into the PS2...especially if they would give it one more big price slash...

I've never gotten buying a launch system. Most systems (If you're not Nintendo anyway) have some critical flaw with the system that can murderdeathkill it.
I mean, I want a 360...but 400 bucks, with a system that might blow up? Don't think thats a great investment.

haven't got one yet, but i do sell them for a living..I know some people have question marks that pop into their heads when a new system come out, but i can tell anyone who reads this that the Xbox 360 is worth getting. I can't tell you how many people are running around frantically trying to find one. these things are selling on ebay for a thousand bucks, that's gotta say something.

Not interested. I'll be happy with my PS2 until the PS3 comes out.

I'm contemplating buying a PS3.
I'm also trying hard not to laugh at everyone when it finally comes out.
It'll all make sense in about a year.

I'm an X-Box owner and I'm not really interested in the 360. Don't get me wrong, I think 'looks' like an amazing system and is worth the investment if your a hardcore gamer, but I think it'll be a few years before they perfect the system and the games for it, and by that time it'll be $100 cheaper, and there will be better games for it. I'm a BIG sports game fan, and the games that I have (Madden 05, NCAA Football 05, latest EA baseball game which is almost baseball perfection, Fight Night Round 2 (which is in my top 5 ALL TIME!), DOA3, GTA SA, Amped2 and KOTOR2) I'm very happy with, and from what I've heard the 360 sports games are actually quite poor aside from the graphics.
I find that I'm a very picky game consumer, and there just aren't a lot of titles I'm willing to spend the money on. Plus, with 360, some of the X-Box games that I want (Halo 2, NBA 06) will be a little cheaper now because of all the trade ins for 360's.
That being said, if I had more money, I would probably get a 360, and there's probably a 50/50 chance I'll own a one by this time next year.

I ended up getting one from my preorder at toysrus. System has been unbelivable, you can't really get the whole feel of it till its hooked up to HD. We finally got our HD fixed this weekend and on saturday alone played it for about 9 hours straight. Call of Duty 2 is just an amazing game on the 360. Madden isn't bad but it definately needs a lot of work, Perfect Dark was pretty cool, and NBA 2K6 looks like your watching regular tv. I definately am not disappointed at all by the machine and every friend i've had play it loves it.

I didn't pick one up, but I don't know if I've ever picked up a console at launch. I will probably get a 360 or PS3 after it comes out, but Microsoft's earlier launch may give it a leg up on Sony for my $$$.

I am a Sony guy but I am very impressed by the graphics from what I have seen. I played a bit of a racing game (I think Ridge Racer) at Target and the game was so so but the graphics were amazing, especially on the plasma tv they had set up.

I have kids and they want everything new that comes along... being a bit older I tend to wait a while before I jump on new game systems.
