Guys I am worried and angry. There is a new card game out called Wrestling Wars. And they're taking shots at us! Have you guys seen it?

There's an official website link on the Favorite Wbsite thread here.
It sounds and looks like someone trying to horn in on the COTG to promote a very "BOOTLEG" looking card game (for $29.00?!!).
I think it's real; I'm just not convinced it's anything more than a coattail riding troll.

Neil, I saw the game in PWI. Back Cover. It's on the web too but I don't want to give them any advertising here.

Anyone ever hear of Tomboy77 before this thread? The way he words his initial post here is . . . .interesting.
I'm sure the game is real, and I could care less if they try to advertise here (competition, afterall, is a good thing), but don't lie to me and suggest that the other guy is taking shots at "US" while trying to slide one over.
I could be wrong about this, but I doubt it.

I posted this in the Wrestlingwars thread but I want to spread the word.
Direct quotes from the site:
"The two were sick and tired of having to choose between an absurd beer and pretzels game and some goofy video game....."
"If you’re looking for a goofy insect-like wrestler, an animalistic humanoid or a robotic grappler to play, then you’re out of luck here. Some wrestling game companies have made a living by leeching off the industry and producing crap like this for years. Not us. We are bringing you a REALISTIC and EXCITING product based on the entertainment you know and love. We don’t have wrestlers named ‘Tough’ Joe, or ‘Bad’ John either. These ridiculous gimmicks don’t cut it in our gaming universe. If you like kick-ass, no-nonsense anti-heroes like Superbandit, the ruthless technical warrior Eric Wooden, or a vampire bent on destruction named Bosferatu..."
Taking potshots, eh?
I really like how they talk of "goofy" and "inane" wrestlers, and then in the same paragraph mention "a vampire bent on destruction named Bosferatu". Ha, what a crock of sh it!
I would not have minded the competition, but to come out and bash a product that's been around for nearly twenty years is absolutely inane. They could have marketed this as game, but to take shots at CotG is crap. .It is aparent they looked into CotG; nobody told them to drink that Kool Aid if they did not like it. Perhaps they would have gotten some business from the loyal faction here if they did not slam our game.
Screw the pretending bastiches!
They lost my interest

Well, when MythicalMino came on pimping Wrestling's Finest, I was fine with that...he found a game he genuinely enjoyed and wanted to spread the word...but yeah, I've never heard of tomboy77 before, which is why I asked if this was a legit post or bad spamming.
I gotta tell you, I'll take Necros over Bosferatu any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I have the game. You quoted something about a vampire being in it, but obviously you have no knowledge about the game. He is a human who practices Vampirism. Sure Byron and Dan bash this game, but I was never into it either. It will do the game industry good to have competition. These guys are serious...just check out how awesome the site is...and the girls are super hot! This game is realistic and exciting. Don't diss what u don't know. Count Necros is not cooler than Bosferatu...

I was looking at the site, and saw "Tim's Brainstem"...ya know, the Wrestling's Finest guys at least try to sell the game on its merits, and not by ragging on CotG. Although, I gotta say, putting attractive, scantily-clad chicks on your site is one thing Tom hasn't done.
But seriously...I might have checked this game out, but I their site tells me less about the game and spends more time busting on CotG. That's really just pathetic.

These guys are serious...just check out how awesome the site is...and the girls are super hot! This game is realistic and exciting. Don't diss what u don't know. Count Necros is not cooler than Bosferatu... So, the game still has supernatural type characters, right? That sounds "inane and silly" to me... It was never said everybody had to be into CotG. I really just do not understand why these guys decided that the best way to promote their product was to run down this one. As Tommy said, not very much information was given on how the game works, how they ensure that a small guy dosen't toss around a giant guy, what kind of options are available among specialty matches, nor any close ups of the drawings or stat cards to show us what it looked like ( and the whole stat card does not have to be shown, a small portion would suffice). Hell, it was never even mentioned why it is better or different from that "... absurd beer and pretzel game". it is claimed to be "cooler" and "more realistic and exciting" than. One thing I will concede is that competition will do the industry good. However, there is more than enough room for two dice and card wrestling games on the market where insulting the other product does not have to occur. I can guarantee that many people from this site whom may have checked out this game will never do so do to that site badmouthing CotG. It will certainly drive customers away from a product that otherwise may not have been a hard sell to some. You know, this situation reminds me of the WCW/WWF war. WCW was brash bold and pushed an exciting new edge. They called out their competitor, stole fans, and made a whole to do. Then WCW, the upstart company, shriveled and went away..

Sounds like the only one completely sold on this product is a guy who has NEVER posted here before (" . . . .just check out how awesome the site is . . . and the girls are super hot!).
Hmmmm, hot girls, bad mouthing and one very miniscule synopsis of the actual product. Sounds like someone's trying to dress up a fresh pile.
But hey, tomboy, if you're happy with it, then rock on. I kinda hope it succeeds, too. Success would mean that it truly is worth our time, or the genre has really caught on, and Tom can go gangbusters on the broader market base.
Hey, tomboy, why don't you tell us more about your product . . . . like why it costs so much and why there's so little info about the actual game on that babe-filled site? Use those 15 minutes effectively while you got 'em!!

Just a quick note; tomboy started out ""worried and angry" . . . . .
THEN, he hesitantly told us ALL of the places you could see an ad for this game (because he hated to give them advertising space here). . . . . .
And finally, he's blown away by the site . . . . assumedly without having ever played the game!! Afterall, his first post suggests he just "discovered" it today (wink, wink).
SPAMMER.

Okay...
As a long time supported of Tom it is sometimes hard to look at something else objectively...therefore we are always skeptical when a guest jumps on and "loves" another product. It gets right under our skin and the first thing we do is go look into the product...which i am guessing most of us have...I did...and i can tell you that badmouthing the product that has been the flagship for 20 years is not a good way to start business...at least from my point of view...you would think these guys would want to entice us away from COTG, but i don't think they know how loyal COTG Promoters are...well they might now that they have jumped in here...
Something else...$30 buts is hard to throw at an unknown entity. These guys must not have taken marketing classes as the idea is to put something out that will get folks interested at an affordable price...and since we are all used to Tom's pricing this likely too steep for us to even check out "causually"...we'll it is for me.
I think the best thing to do would be to ignore them...they will go away. Just like an annoying sibling looking for attention...ignore it and it will go away when it doesn't get its way...
Plus, i am sure that if they come back and start to cause problems, our moderators will handle the situation as needed.
Can't really blame someone for trying to get into the market, but there is a smart way to do it and I happen to think they aren't.
Finally on a side note, I'd be interested to see the game play, but in reading the page about the "storyline" (or what ever they called it) it is just not something that would interest me. If i had never owned COTG and had both games in front of me i would lean more toward COTG because its main storyline is more to my taste...just my opinion, hopefully somewhat objective.

One other fact...and just trying to state facts here...
...the site has something like 40,000+ hits but their message board has like THREE people posting there...
Have to wonder how 40,000 people have looked into the game but so few are willing to say anything good about it besides the girls...and yeah more COTG and video game bashing there as well...
Really...tell us about the game...how to play it...and then maybe...just maybe i shell out the cash to get it.
Facts end...opinion starts...I am thinking about emailing and asking for more info, but i am afraid the reply might be more of the same from the webpage...
