I was ohhh so close to buying last Christmas for myself but never did...Now that they are selling expansion packs for it i am kinda glad i didn't as i could see myself spending lots of money to get those extra sets...
however, if i ever do play it and like it i might still get it...

The commercials have really tempted me, but I already have enough cool games that I don't play.

I purchased it a bit more than a year ago and I just cannot sing the game's praises enough. It's wonderfully simple, yet offers a great deal of strategy.
I can also vouch for the coolness of the expansion packs, as I've purchased four of the standard packs and the large pack with the bridge, road tiles, and trees.
Seriously, HS rocks my world!

I got this last January. Easily one of the best tabletop strategy games out there. It's at the point now where there's a good deal of units out there. Who can't love a game with cyborg guerillas?

Who can't love a game with cyborg guerillas? Someone who'd rather deploy cyborg gorillas?

Yeah, I knew I probably mispelled that.

Well, it depends on what you meant. Did you mean half-robot, half-ape or just soldiers?

I meant as in robot apes. So yeah, I messed up.

We got Heroscape for my stepson for Christmas and juts played it for the first time yesterday. It's pretty sweet! It's very simple and easy to play, but not at the expense of strategy and fun. Plus when I read the directions I didn't feel, as the old adage goes, that it "reads like stereo instructions". The map takes a little to set up, but I like the 3-D effect better than just a flat board. Hopefully they'll keep making expansion packs because this could be a great new hobby...not replacing COTG of course!

The lava and bridge sets add for some nice variety for terrain if you're wondering where to go first on expansions.

oh, honey....you wanna play a game?... I have never been able to get that to work, man. Through numerous video games, CotG, Heroclix and Star Wars Miniatures- never. If you can, you are one lucky cat.

haha.....yeah....but she has already said that she is willing to at least try it....
I got her to play chess once....but with this game, she is actually acting like she is interested somewhat....
It may be the fact that it is not just sci-fi, or fantasy.....but about everything all at once....

well, after playing a few games, I gotta say....
I really like this one. Simple enough to learn how to play without too much stress over the rules, but complex enough to rack your brain with strategy and army composition.
The units are varied enough, the models look (for the most part) great. the units special abilities are pretty cool, unique, and fit.
I also like the fact that the game can go in any direction: fantasy, historical, sci-fi, ect.
Overall.....great, great game!!
