I had nothing better to do...and I agreed with the thread title, TNA fans are stupid.

Of course, anyone is allowed to cheer for who they want. However, some of the Impact Zone fans who cheer for Kong were probably the same people crying for Cena to turn heel. Just curious--is this statement based on any evidence at all? I see no logical connection.

This is why I say it is the stupid Impact Zone fans, and not the bookers' fault. At least in this situation. Fans in the Impact Zone are like ECW fans on crack. Well, many of the original ECW fans were on crack, but the point is that fans in the Impact Zone seem to be obsessed with displaying how smart they are, and dueling chants in such a stupid situation are proof of that. I'm not disagreeing the the Impact Zone fans make a big negative, well, impact, but I think its the booker's job to KNOW those fans, and make them react they way they want. Are the Impact zone fans harder to do that with than most? definately... but it can be done.. RoH fans are even MORE smarky and participate even more, and, say what you want about the in ring product, popularity, etc, but the booking is very logical, and tells a good story, which the fans don't F-up.

The problem is Russo is still booking like he's in the 1998 WWF, and he and the TNA braintrust are of the sincere belief that any reaction at all is better than no reaction.
Look at how much idiotic crap has been justified by the old "It gets people talking" meme, which goes back to the Arquette WCW title win if not earlier. It doesn't matter if it's the right reaction or if it actually increases business, as long as you provoke a response of any sort from the fans, you're considered a success.

Let me preface this by saying I think it is very cool that Gail Kim and Awesome Kong got to main event a prime time wrestling program, even if it is just Impact. It is a testament to how apparently over both women, as well as the surprisingly good booking of the feud by TNA's usually inept writers. As I found myself actually rooting (as in, "Kick out! Kick out!") for Kim, it occurred to me one of the reasons TNA will never be really successful: The idiotic fans that fill the Impact Zone. Seriously, what does it say about the stupidity of fans that they go through dueling chants during a match between 125-pounder Gail Kim and her 275-pound challenger, Awesome Kong. I know, cheer who you want and boo who you want. But how in the hell can half a crowd be so smarky, or whatever the hell its called, that they would cheer for the monster challenger in a match like this? If nothing else, it proves TNA really needs to get out of the Impact Zone for weekly shows. I agree with this one hundred percent. I have always believed that the Impact Zone fans "react" the way they do because they want to get noticed on a national television audience, and not because they're being diehard or "smart" fans of the show. Fans gotta realize that while their participation can really add to a wrestling show, the reason people tune in is to watch WRESTLING, not to listen to them do mindless dueling chants to every single match so that every single performer on the roster, face or heel, gets the same exact reaction.

Everyone getting the same reaction is probably the most nerve-wracking aspect of all. TNA has done a tremendous job of building up Gail Kim, probably to the point that she is the number one babyface in the company, but the fans in the Impact Zone are doing all they can to kill that momentum for the viewer at home. It's bad enough that the number one male feud on TNA (Angle-Christian) has no one even close to being a face or sympathetic character involved (well, unless you count Tomko), but it is even more ridiculous that the IZ fans go out of there way to cheer against the few faces in the company. I'm seriously waiting for them to start chanting, "Let's go, Bob!" during the next Roode-Booker match. The dueling chants thing is cool during Cena matches, because it adds to the appeal of his matches, but do we really need them in a Tomko-Sharkboy match?

I'm seriously waiting for them to start chanting, "Let's go, Bob!" during the next Roode-Booker match. Actually, if this happened, I could totally see Roode grabbing a mic saying, "Don't you dare call me Bob again, I am ROBERT Roode, not Bob!" Followed by some insults to the crowd until Booker T interupts him with a scissor kick. However, knowing the Impact Zone, they would still probably cheer for him.
