Who says that Jow will leave TNA, The report is that he turned down a 3 year contract with TNA. Joe is one of TNA's big stars, so they will go back to the drawing board and offer him a better deal and maybe a title run and Joe will stay in TNA. WWE would bury Joe in ECW or Smackdown, giving him a stupid gimmick, and putting him in matches against low to midcard guys until his contract with them would be up, then he would not only have a damaged reputation to the fans, but it is hard to go back to the smaller feds once you have failed in the big one. I think Joe will stick to TNA. But I could be dead wrong too.

it is hard to go back to the smaller feds once you have failed in the big one. I'm not too sure on that. A few guys have been able to work well enough in the indies. Sure they admit they would return to the WWE given the chance but they are at least able to make a living out of it.
