Last night I watch TNA on Spike for the first time. I went to Lockdown last month and decided to give it a try. The show wasn't bad, better than I expected, but what really got me was Raven...
Man, has he let himself go. Raven, huh.. More like Turkey...

Maybe they are riding it out until the (perhaps) inevitable 2-hour expansion....but they sure seem to be carrying around a lot of dead weight. Raven.....Kevin Nash......I doubt even with 2 hours that Nash would wrestle, since making a mockery out of the once venerable X Division is his full-time job....but they just seem to have a lot of guys doing absolutely nothing.
Konnan's a great talker and has serious health problems -- what's Raven's excuse?

Didn't raven have health problems at one point? Isn't that why he's so overweight. (I don't know for sure)

I remember that Raven has some sort of problem(thyroid maybe) that is causing him weight issues.

Raven had/has a thyroid problem. He was out for some time. He came back with serious weight gain and has mainly been functioning as a manager. This pst week was a rare match for him.

I like when he came on the WCW scene with his "What about me? What about Raven?" whiney 'wronged' guy gimmick.....but yeah, that was -at least- 10 years ago. Even when I enjoyed TNA, he didn't do anything for me.

Raven did indeed have a Thyroid problem and generally thyroid problems do not go away. Having a thyroid problem very often causes weight gain and it becomes very hard to lose the weight once you have it. I would be willing to bet Swarm would know at least a little about this. He can hate Raven and at least admit that Raven has a legit excuse for his weight gain. Thyroid problems are actually quite common. I know a few people with either hyperthyroid or hypothyroid. Both are very hard to deal with.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea Raven had such a problem. I did enjoy Raven back in the day and was sad to see him in such a shape.

I wish him well too and I think getting away from wrestling will help him.

I think Raven should call it a career in the ring. Still, I think he can offer quite a bit either as a manager or as a booker.

OK. I am probably the biggest Raven fan here. Trust me I followed Scott's career since 1990 back in WCW then in 1992 as Johhny Polo in the WWF then as Raven in ECW. Scott/Raven is struggleing with the thyroid problem and sees a specialist every week. As part of his contract with TNA, TNA won't let him wrestle unless doctor's say he can. Kinda like getting a doctor's excuse back in school. Anyways, he is training and managing Seritonin b/c he has past manager experience. But Raven is dropping some weight, it might not look it but he is and he is schedule to wrestle at Slammiversery against Kaz in a House of Fun match. However, it may change depending on the specialist and the officials at TNA.

He is looking a little better lately. Raven could definitely be a great manager as he has proven time and time again. He might be a good booker. Who knows.

Well Scott aka Raven is 42 so it won't be long for him to retire
