A good effort from TNA. I'd give AJ Styles the 'performer of the night' award for some great showmanship and bump taking. The first few minutes of the VKM skit was classic parody...but it went on too long and fell flat once the masks came off. Eric Young works the crowd better with his persona than anyone on the roster. Angle put Fat Joe over strong...first with the ref out and then when it counted. Looks like they'll do a rubber match.
Courtesy of Wrestling Observer
(1) In the PCS (Paparazzi Championship Series) elimination match, Senshi (competing with a broken rib) defeated Sonjay Dutt, Alex Shelley, Jay Lethal and the Austin Starr.
“X Division legend” Kevin Nash sat with Tenay and West during the match. This was well worth watching. The eliminations came in the following order: Dutt eliminated Shelley via submission when Starr stopped Shelley from making it to the ropes; Senshi eliminated Lethal with the in ring Warriors Way kick; Starr eliminated Dutt after hitting a suplex followed by a top rope 450, Senshi defeated Starr after Shelley’s distraction made Starr miss the 450, Senshi rolled up Starr for the pin.
Jeremy Borash spoke to “Showtime” Eric Young about the bikini contest. After a video package ran about it, we got bikinis.
(2) In a bikini contest, “Showtime” Eric Young defeated Ms. Brooks (w/Robert Roode)
Brooks came dressed in a black coat, Young in a pink fuzzy robe with matching slippers. Brooks was wearing a very sexy red and black bikini. Young revealed a t-shirt that had a bikini on it. Roode demanded a DQ in the contest. Young said he wasn’t done and asked for more time and showed off Sponge Bob Square Pants bottoms. Slick Johnson said it was over and awarded it Brooks but Young said he wasn’t done and unleashed bikini bottoms. The audience decided the event and they awarded it to Young. Roode decked Young but Young got away and celebrated his victory. So Roode focused his anger onto Ms. Brooks. Roode said Brooks needed to get Young to sign with Robert Roode Inc. or Roode was going to fire her.
The interview girl was outside Dumb to the Extreme’s locker room when a guy in a banana hammock said he wanted inside. But he opted to find the catering area.
(3) World X Division champion “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels defeated “the Future” Chris Sabin w/special referee Jerry Lynn.
This was a rematch from Genesis and was as hard hitting as the previous bout between these two. Sabin got a side headlock and kept it on by grabbing Daniels by the ear when he tried to get away. Daniels countered into an armbar and used some hair pulling to drive Sabin’s face into the canvas. Daniels hit a suplex and a springboard moonsault but got two. Sabin stepped on Daniels foot and then booted him to the floor where Sabin followed over to the rampway. After driving Daniels into the ramp the action came back to the ring. Sabin focused on the neck with a running dropkick to it and a neckvise but Daniels got to his feet and got a backslide for two, only to have Sabin hit a neckbreaker for two. Sabin used the ropes to choke Daniels dropped a leg on the back of Daniels neck for two. Daniels avoided a Sabin moonsault and hit an STO. Both men struggled to their feet and traded punches once they got there. Daniels hit a backbreaker for two and went for Angels Wings but Sabin went to the floor so Daniels followed, slamming Sabin to the guardrail and hitting a top rope elbow to the floor. Lynn was close to counting both men out but they made it in. Daniels back suplex was stopped as Sabin hit a spin kick to the ribs and drop kick to the face. Sabin hit Daniels with a Hot Shot and Tornado DDT for two. Sabin went to the ropes but he ran into Daniels Blue Thunder Driver/Falcon’s Arrow. Daniels hit a running knee and brainbuster for two when he locked in a submission hold. Somehow Sabin got to the ropes and caused a break. Sabin raked Daniels eyes and the followed with a running boot the face. Daniels retained the title when he hit another STO followed by the BME. After the match Lynn grabbed the mic and said despite Sabin having a good match Daniels won and said Sabin should shake hands. Daniels wasn’t down with that and argued with Lynn who ended up slapping Daniels. The TNA referees hit the ring to calm the situation down but tempers were definitely raised.
TNA Management’s Jim Cornette came out to the ring to welcome the people mentioned before. Pierzynski was carrying the X Division belt given to him by TNA last year. Eckstein was booed when he got to the ring with his brother. Eckstein pimped a book he wrote to kids and organ donation. Torborg grabbed the book and ripped pages out as Pierzynski mocked him on the mic. The four men began to slug it out (possibly getting us on ESPN SportsCenter and in trouble with the player’s teams) when Lance Hoyt came out to stop Pierzynski from hitting Eckstein with the X title belt.
(4) “Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated War Machine” Rhino.
Rhino was being interviewed by Borash when Styles jumped him. The fight went outside the venue then to the concession stand where Rhino suplexed Styles onto a trash can. They fought into the fans where Rhino slammed Styles into a wall and then into fencing. The brawl went through the fans as Andrew Thomas pleaded with them to take it to the ring. Styles slammed Rhino into a wood wall and fractured it with Rhino’s back. Styles charged Rhino but Rhino backdropped Styles onto the rampway. Finally the bell rang as the action came to the ring. Styles slammed Rhino’s face into a turnbuckle and then whipped him to a corner. During the outside melee Styles got a gash, in his ring trunks. Styles avoided Rhino and hit a dropkick to the chest for two. Rhino avoided Styles and went to the second rope but Styles dump Rhino to the floor and followed out, ending up suplexed belly to belly style on the floor by Rhino. Both men made it into the ring where the violence escalated with a Rhino Spinebuster for two. The Styles Clash was blocked so Styles hit Rhino with an enziguri. Styles went for a move but Rhino double legged him and dropped him over the ropes crashing to the floor where it looked like Styles injured his left knee. TNA medical staff came out to check on the knee as Rhino grew impatient in the ring. Just as it looked Like Andrew Thomas was going to award the match to Rhino, Styles slid in and rolled up Rhino for the pin. Styles was goldbricking all along.
The interview girl found Vinny McDaddy walking around with a rooster, sorry cock looking for the oiled up guy and his son-in-law. Just when it looked like they were going to talk about the next match, Rhino and Styles brawled back out into the venue TNA security struggled to break it up. As the security tried ot calm things down, a package on the LAX/AMW war played.
(5) In a non–title flag match, NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan) defeated America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim)
Instead of capturing the flag, the teams need to hang their flag to win. AMW jumped LAX before the bell and the fight was on. Hernandez tossed Homicide over the top sending him onto Harris. Hernandez went to follow but got hit with a superkick while Kim hit Homicide with a top rope plancha. Storm got hung up in a corner as LAX double teamed Harris. Storm had a chair in front of his face as Homicide went for a kick but Harris hit a spinebuster. Harris got a ladder as Storm occupied Homicide in the ring. Too bad for Harris he met Hernandez who tossed him over his head and onto the ladder. Harris avoided another move onto the ladder and sent Hernandez crashing into it as Homicide mocked the fans. Kim got involved but Storm saved her and hit Homicide with a superplex. Hernandez got down the Mexican flag but Storm stopped him from hanging it with a power bomb off the ladder. Harris rejoined the match and got the American flag down but Homicide brought him down to the ring with an Acecrusher. Harris countered the Cop Killer and Kim hit Homicide with a top rope dropkick. Kim set up the ladder and got the American flag herself. However Konnan (bad hip and all) got in and decked her. Petey Williams came out and decked Konnan but Hernandez decked Williams. As Storm and Hernandez fought on the floor Harris and Homicide raced up with their flags. Storm stopped Homicide with a beer bottle shot to the head which sent shards into Harris eyes. Storm looked to injure his shoulder when he landed in the ring and it allowed Hernandez to hang the Mexican flag. After the match Storm argued with Harris and Williams about what went down. Konnan demanded it and the Mexican national anthem played as Homicide covered his bloody head with a towel.
A commercial for final Resolution PPV played. Borash spoke to James Storm who said Chris Harris quit on him and America. He demanded an apology on Impact this Thursday.
The Voodoo Kin Mafia hit the ring dressed well like Michael Hickenbottom and Paul Levesque. They were interrupted by four (TNA security) guys dressed in (Brandon All Star) cheerleading outfits. Crotch shots laid them out and the Big Fat Oily Guy hit the ring. BG said some people can’t tell between reality TV and real life. They removed the makeup and BG said the parodies were meant as fun. An offensive coordinator told them Vince said TNA wasn’t on his radar. BG brought up a little field trip to CNN Center and a WCW house show in Virginia. BG said if WWE was going to sue over a parody this was the one to do it. The fans chanted “Screw You Vince.” BG issued a million dollar challenge, offering Vince McMahon one million dollars to have VKM face off with the two WWE boys in a wrestling ring with no rules. BG said Vince should answer or he was a gutless piece of shit.
A video package played for the NWA World Heavyweight title match when Borash spoke to Christian Cage and Tomko.
(6) NWA World Heavyweight champion Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell) defeated Sting and “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage (w/Tomko)
Before the bell Tomko and Abyss had a staredown. Once the bell rang Sting fought off both men. Abyss fought back but Sting avoided him and Abyss went to the floor. Cage followed when Sting hiptossed him out. Sting joined them when he hit them with a cross bodyblock. Sting grabbed Abyss and sent him in the ring but he was cut off by Tomko who slammed Sting into the guard rail. Cage got in the ring and was decked with a clothesline and a backdrop. Abyss hit a corner splash and used his boot to choke Cage. Abyss also laid the boots into Sting’s face. Cage avoided a corner splash and hit Abyss with a tornado DDT for two. As Sting was laying in a corner Cage went to work on Abyss’ knee with a dropkick to it but Abyss powered out of the pin attempt. So Cage used the middle rope to choke Abyss and then got some help from Tomko. Abyss stopped Cage from coming off the top but his attempted superplex was stopped when Sting brought them both off. Cage and Sting fought after Sting hit Abyss with a Stinger Splash. Cage was in the Scorpion when cage raked his eyes. Cage went up again but Sting stopped him and got a rollup on Abyss for two. Abyss got leveled by a boot from Tomko as Sting locked in the Scorpion Death Lock. Tomko dragged out the referee before Cage could tap. Tomko then entered the ring and fought with Sting as Abyss reentered the ring. Abyss had Sting ready for the chokeslam but Mitchell wanted him to do it into tacks as the fans chanted “Chris.” Tomko tried to get Cage to his feet as Abyss grabbed Sting for the choke slam. Cage ran in and Abyss grabbed him instead. Tomko saved Cage and kicked Abyss’ head into the tacks. Sting decked Mitchell and he was decked by a Cage chair shot. To the shock of all, Sting was decked by a second chair shot from Cage and it allowed Abyss to win via pinfall.
Jeremy Borash spoke to Kurt Angle about the upcoming match and the video package talking about the road to the main event.
(7) Samoa Joe defeated Kurt Angle.
I don’t want to type during this match but I know I must. According to Angle’s recent interview this is Joe’s only rematch. As the fans chanted Joe’s Gonna Kill You, Angle spit at them. Angle took Joe down with an arm bar into an overhand wristlock which Joe escaped. Angle went back to the left arm but Joe used it to clothesline Angle. Joe tagged angle with several right hands and kicks, choking out Angle with a boot. Joe kept Angle guessing and backdropped him to the floor. Joe followed out and kicked Angle in the ribs. Angle fired back with punches to Joe’s jaw and entered the ring to hit a plancha to the floor. Angle slammed Joe’s head into the ringsteps several times and entered the ring where Rudy Charles began his ten count which was cut off by Angle who slid out to fight Joe again. They traded punches and got back in the ring where Angle hit a forearm to the jaw. Angle went to the mat with a body scissor but Joe floated over into a pin but Angle floated out into one of his own. Angle went for an armbreaker but Joe draped his foot on the bottom rope. The fists got tossed again and Joe got the worst as he hit the top rope with his face. Joe fired in some bodyshots but got hit with a Belly to Belly suplex for two. Angle rode Joe with a chinlock but Joe got his foot on the rope once more. Angle snapmared Joe back to the middle of ring for a body vise of some kind. Joe fought to his feet and tagged angle with punches and a German release suplex which made Angle crash on his chest. Joe hit two clotheslines and went for the Kokina Clutch but Angle hit three German Suplexes. Joe countered out of the Olympic Slam into the Kokina Clutch but Angle got the Ankle Lock. Joe kicked Angle to a corner and went for the Muscle Buster but Angle slid into the Ankle Lock. Joe got the ropes so Angle hit the Olympic Slam for two. Angle got the Ankle Lock on again but Joe got on the Kokina Clutch only to have angle get the Ankle Lock back on. Joe countered out and got the Kokina Clutch once more. Angle got out once more and sat back in the Ankle Lock. But before Joe could tap he made the bottom rope. Frustration ran through Angle’s body as the fans chanted this is awesome. Angle got Joe up top for a suplex but Joe sent Angle to the mat only to have Angle come back up and suplex Joe off. Joe countered out of the Olympic Slam but somehow Rudy Charles got knocked down. Joe got the Kokina Clutch on and Angle tapped out but the referee didn’t see it. Angle got out of the hold with a low blow and grabbed a chair abut decked himself when he hit the top rope not Joe. Joe locked in the Kokina Clutch and kept his legs away so Angle couldn’t get them. Angle had no choice but to tap out. As replays of the match aired in the Impact Zone, Angle stood in the ring exhausted from the match. Joe stood on the opposite rampway as the fans chanted “one more time.”

I didn't watch it but it doesn't sound abysmall...Joe going over is the right thing to do...
again, sounds like too much cluster fuck matches, and why was the tag team match non-title? That doesn't make any sense to me...
and the VKM stuff is just embarrassing for the whole company.
Main Event sounded ok though.

IMO Abyss with the title is a hell of a lot better then Sting, JJ, or even Christian. Hopefully this all leads to Joe getting the belt after a rubber match (or a series of matches)with Angle.
I actually think Abyss is cool. ;D

This was a Solid PPV.....LWPD is right AJ Styles put on a hell of a match with Rhino. The PCS series is looking like it's gonna work, Nash is gold on the mic. LAX are the best team in wrestling right now. Joe vs Angle II was a great match.....not match of the year, but a SOLID match! Also glad to see Abyss retain, this guy has put his body on the line for TNA and deserves a couple wins with the belt!

Just from the review some points:
I like Abyss going over. At least now he has a pin. I can't stand that he won the belt by DQ last PPV. This settles that.
Joe going over makes sense too. Sets up the rubber match.
I don't like the VKM stuff due to the people performing. I still think they should stick with focusing on their own product. I don't care for the baseball players either.
LAX are great tag champs. Why it was non-title? Who knows? Good point about the heels always losing the Flag match as LAX breaks the streak 0-1,0001.
Didn't sound bad.

I only caught the last half of it...The matches I saw were great...The VKM spot was actually quite entertaining, and well delivered for the most part...Reading what BG says on paper, and actually hearing/seeing him say it are two TOTALLY different things in this case...
if 'm not misaken, AMW didn't care about the belts...The Tag titles weren't the focus in their match...This was about a feud that started with Hernandez Powerbombing Gail Kim, and escalated from there...If I'm not mistaken, it's never been about the belts in this case...To put them on the line for the helluvit is kinda pointless...

I am really shocked that Angle tapped. Angle wrestled Benoit numerous times and never tapped to him once. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, (correct me if I'm wrong LWPD) but this is his 1st tap-out loss. This could make Joe vs Angle III that much more interesting. However, I still wish they took their time building this feud.

Backlash 2001, Chris Benoit made Angle tap out 4 times in Ultimate Submission...Benoit won the Iron man style match 4-3 in overtime...But then again, he's Benoit...Probably the only other guy that could make Joe tap as well...

After watching the clip that LWPD provided, there are two conclusions to be drawn:
Road Dogg is still pretty good on the mic and TNA spent 10 minutes of a PPV jocking their "competition" and coming off as an inferior company.
While entertaining once the comedy stopped, Road Dogg basically said, "Vince is mad because we're doing something he made us do 10 years ago." While not a wrestling insider like many on the Internet, I thought it was a mistake to actually admit that you are recycling a 10-year old angle, especially one done by a competitior that your company spends so much time criticizing.
Thhe VKM skits can be amusing at times, but it is hard for me to enjoy them. As I stated in the post where I was comparing this with the Jay-Z/Camron feud, it just comes off as a cat on the bottom hating on the man at the top.
"Million Dollar Challenge?" Are you serious? This is so stupid because of the fact that there is absolutely no way it's going anywhere. It actually reminds me of Eric Bischoff challenging Vince to a fight, except that had a better chance of happening. Vince actually hated Eric Bischoff. Most likely, he does not even care about Kip and B-Gizzle.

Unless they're planning on putting Ted DiBiase on the line. ;D I can't believe these stupid skits have lasted as long as they have. They're very boring. Even a guy as good as RD on the mic can't help this ridiculous sitiation.
