I watched TNA Impact last night. I was highly unimpressed. I saw vignettes with acting that was less inspired than what I have seen in adult features (porn). I saw a main event between three guys who are just difficult to look at.
We have all been over Samoa Joe and his new era Dusty Rhodes physique but I haven't seen Sonjay Dutt much. I just couldn't get by how scuzzy he looks...not a star. Shen Shi looked silly trying to apply holds to Joe and stand toe-to-toe with him given the size difference. The only emotion I saw in the main was from Scott Steiner. His face conveyed the anger and desperation needed to tell the story.
A "dozens" match between heated rivals? That kind of takes the steam off the feud. I couldn't tell who the faces were either.
A very ugly, big girl being thrown in with Daniels and Styles. Why? Do they need somebody to drag them down. Oh yeah. That girl is Jaime D and she was trained by Scott D'Amore in Canada. I've seen her work and if you thought her missing a slap block with Gail Kim was bad then you haven't seen anything yet!
Okay, Konnan can work the mic like magic. That's a plus but even that went on too long.
My wife watched part of the show with me and she just laughed at it. She made mention of how amateur it all looked...and she isn't a smark.
That all said, I hopped over to 1wrestling.com and read nothing but glowing reviews of the show. These reviews were so sugar coated that I wouldn't suggest that a diabetic read them.
My thought is that these must be staff members of TNA making up the reviews. There was barely a single negative point made. We all know that that just isn't like wrestling fans. So is it TNA sending in rave reviews in a desperate (if not pathetic) attempt to change public opinion, is it 1wrestling.com showing their bias and again discreditting themselves as journalists or am I just missing the greatness that is TNA?
