I am not the biggest Nash fan, but this was a hilarious interview...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday night Kevin Nash joined The LAW: Live Audio Wrestling right after the TNA "Sacrifice" Pay Per View with hosts Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski and John Pollock. To listen to the entire show featuring Harry Smith and "Superstar" Billy Graham go to www.liveaudiowrestling.com
LAW: We've got the one and only Kevin Nash on the line. Kevin, are you there?
KN: What's up, man?
LAW: How's it going, brother?
KN: Good.
LAW: Alright, um… I'm a little bit unprepared for this interview ‘cause I was expecting Rhino but we'll just shoot from the hip here.
KN: Those Detroit boys.
LAW: Yeah, exactly. How are you feeling? How are things going for Kevin Nash? Because you were out with an injury for a while.
KN: Yeah, I'm good. I feel great right now. I dropped about twenty pounds and everything's going good.
LAW: Now I have to ask you a little bit about this angle they've been doing with you over the last couple of weeks and what we saw at the Pay Per View here. A lot of very funny stuff in some of those promos, certainly it almost seems to be sort of self-mocking your own career in certain points.
KN: Can't prove that. (laughs)
LAW: I can't prove that?
KN: (laughing) You can't prove that.
LAW: No? I don't know, there's just something—that little chart, you know, you being the best drawing WWE champion of all time?
KN: That's the truth!
LAW: It's the truth, is it?
KN: Yeah, absolutely!
LW: Really?
KN: Would I lie?
LAW: Apparently! (laughs) I guess I'm curious, Kevin, to where the whole thing is leading.
KN: Well that's why you have to watch the television show.
LAW: Oh, geez. Are you sure they haven't found Rhino yet?
KN: They haven't found him.
LAW: (laughs) I'm just—I guess I'm—
KN: You sound like one of those X-Division guys that just, "He's gonna talk bad about our little boys."
LAW: No, well, I'm just curious as to where the angle is going. I don't really see it—
KN: I'm gonna completely destroy this federation and then I'm gonna leave.
LAW: Okay, no, you can cut the kayfabe for now, man. I'm trying to figure out what's actually happening here because for you to destroy the division or whatever, that is no help to them. It's kind of what is the signature moment from TNA, right?
KN: (pause) Right.
LAW: So why—so I'm just curious as to where you're going. I mean obviously you don't want to work with those guys. You'd obviously wanna be doing something different, right?
KN: Why wouldn't I want to work with those guys?
LAW: I'm asking you.
KN: Those guys are the most talented guys in the company.
LAW: And you don't consider yourself talented?
KN: Of course I do! Why wouldn't I want to work with talented guys?
LAW: Oh, I see. So you're trying to get the rub from them?
KN: I think we can give each other a rub.
LAW: Uh huh. I'm just curious because in the past when this type of thing is booked with the big man and the small man, it usually ends up burying the small guy.
KN: Well I don't know. If you remember my career, there was one time on Nitro when I wrestled Rey Mysterio and I don't remember Rey Mysterio getting buried. And to this day, I think that that did a lot to make sure that now he's got the belt on him.
LAW: Oh, I—that might be a little bit of a stretch.
KN: I think I was the first person to bring that he—that he could play that role. Nobody else would put him over.
LAW: But was that really putting him over? (pause) I mean to me, it looked to me like you were burying him?
KN: (pause) How was I burying him?
LAW: Well because you came out and just obliterated him.
KN: (pause) He got a win on me.
LAW: But it's a win that nobody remembers.
KN: Maybe you don't. Everybody else I—I mean, obviously you weren't a fan of the business back then.
LAW: Well Kevin, when we look at that match though, Rey Mysterio, he remained in that same slot though, in the midcard. When we look at what Rey's doing right now, for instance on Smackdown this past week, they had Rey just get jobbed by the big guy and I think that's where the fears come of where this could lead to with the giant against the (small) guy. I don't know if you saw that on Smackdown this week.
KN: No, I don't watch that show.
LAW: It's just sometimes to me, I don't see how that benefits. To me, it looks just like the fans see the big guy come out and beat the little guy. And then when you do get the win, they don't believe it anyway. It seems unbelievable.
KN: What, when the little guy gets the win, it's unbelievable?
LAW: Yeah.
KN: Well why is that?
LAW: I think because it hasn't really been ever done properly, with the giant versus the smaller guy. A lot of fans have a real hard time believing that just in the context of the wrestling match. So I think that's the hard part—
KN: Maybe they should read the Bible.
LAW: Well maybe so.
KN: Maybe they should because Goliath was nine foot and David was a teenager. And that's a documentated—that's not a work.
LAW: (laughs) I have to question certain aspects of the Bible myself, but hey, I mean—
KN: It's because you're a mark and you listen to that Da Vinci Code stuff.
LAW: (laughs)
KN: Right?
LAW: I have no idea what the Da Vinci Code is all about, I have no idea. So I guess my question is, where do we go from here with Kevin Nash? Are you gonna work your way into more of the main event picture? Are you gonna stay with the X-Division thing?
KN: Right now, I'm very interested in what I'm doing. I'm motivated, and I want to do this angle. Hopefully it'll last a couple of months, and do it right.
LAW: Kevin, during your time off—you've been off this October, what's Kevin Nash been up to during this time?
KN: Being a dad, mostly.
LAW: Right. Can we expect any more movies coming out?
KN: DOA comes out August 25th. And I've got another one that I'm working on right now. We're hoping it gets funded soon, and I may be able to shoot in August or September.
LAW: Right. Have you noticed a different reaction from the movie community coming after the Longest Yard last year? Because for my money, you were really the star in that one.
KN: That's nice. It's like everything else. I mean, you can be the funniest guy in the world but when you go in for a sitcom and they put you next to a girl who's five-foot-four that's gonna be the lead, they go, "Jesus, it's not gonna work. They're too big."
LAW: Right.
KN: So I've got the size problem thing. But you know, sooner or later a producer that'll believe in me will say, "I'm gonna overlook the size thing and go on it." Because Garrett that was on Raymond, I think he's 6'9".
LAW: That's right. I'm just wondering Kevin, quickly before we have to wrap things up here, if you've had a chance to talk with Scott Hall any time in the… we really haven't heard too much about him lately. I was just kind of wondering what's going on there, if you've talked to him lately.
KN: Yeah, I talk to him every couple of weeks. He's been laying low. He lives about ninety miles from me in Florida. He's just been laying low.
LAW: How's he making out? Is he okay?
KN: Eh, Scott's Scott. (laughs)
LAW: (laughs) I guess that answers that question, doesn't it? Alright, Kevin, I want to thank you for sticking your nose in there at the last minute and subbing for a missing Rhino. Despite everything that we disagree on, certain things, we still wanna see the best for TNA obviously ‘cause we want—
KN: Obviously.
LAW: We want some competition for the WWE, so uh—
KN: I've got a little nine-year-old boy and I gotta have a place for him to work.
LAW: That's it! Absolutely. Alright, you take care of yourself, Mr. Nash.
KN: Alright, buddy.
LAW: There you have it, Kevin Nash. Somewhat misguided I would say. (That was the best interview ever!) I don't know. It was a confusing one anyway. I'm confused.
