Just read the recap...
Well, they let Christian/Abyss go on last, which makes sense given the post-match finish to the tag match.
Joe was the star of the tag match, even getting the Muscle Buster on Jarrett, and getting the lion's share of the crowd support. Think the finish will set up Sting vs Joe? Think Joe's the one guy in TNA that can get the crowd to turn on Sting?
What happened to Sonjay going to confront Nash? Seems they kinda forgot about it. After I read Petey jobbed to Lyger I figured they were going to have Canada go bust in the X Cup setting up their break-up.
I like Roode going over Rhino...I like Roode a lot, though, and don't really care for Rhino.
James Gang-Team 3D...eh...I didn't like either team before TNA, don't like them now.
AMW v AJ/Daniels sounded pretty great, though. Read a complaint or two about the finish...but heels cheat, that's kind of a fact of life.
Didn't sound BLOW-AWAY great...but not bad.

I watched this show and it was solid a very good PPV better than Lockdown hands down. Sonjay actually toppled out to the floor and landed wrong or did a move or something on the outside and broke his ankle it looked like so Puma took his place in the beatdown.
The matches were all good but I was really happy with how well the Sting/Joe vs. Jarrett/Steiner match played out. And yes this will definately set up a Joe Sting bout.
Again a very strong PPV!

Yeah, Sonjay Broke his Ankle during the World X Cup elimination match...That's not a doctor's prognosis, just saying when a guy lands wrong, starts screaming in pain, and literally tearing his boot off frantically before being carried from the ring by three guys...Broken ankle...
I'll post my thoughts on the pay per view tomorrow...can't do it right now...

OUCH.
Okay...
That explains the "no Sonjay"

From what I read it seemed there were few clean finishes which is always a bit disappointing and why they seem so intent on jobbing Team 3-D is beyond me, but otherwise not too bad. I still hope Tom gets the former Dudleys in LoW sometime.

Read the results. Seems just OK. I'm sure I'll watch Daniels/AJ vs AMW, the Joe/JJ/Sting/Steiner match, and Christian vs Abyss, which seem like the best actual matches of the night.
I still think we'll see Jarrett vs Sting first. Hard to imagine they'd end a months long program without a singles match between the two. But I do like how Joe is getting the "I Stand Alone" treatment.
Maybe Rhino should just call it a career. If TNA isn't even willing to push you...
Jackie Gayda..waste of a storyline...
Nice to see Raven get the duke ; this is still an incredibly uncreative way to use him. Bigger waste than last month's arm wrestling match.
Over-all it seems ...OK.

Here are some news from other sites:
The plan right now is for Scott Steiner Vs. Samoa Joe and Sting Vs. Jeff Jarrett to head up next month's Slammiversary card. Of course, many things change on the day of the PPV, but as it stands right now, Samoa Joe will likely pick up the win over Steiner to set-up their feud and Sting & Jarrett will battle post-match leaving things unresolved with the emphasis that they will be settled next month.
It has been in the works for a long time to have Team 3-D eventually beat America's Most Wanted for their first NWA Tag Team Title run at an important stage such as Slammiversary or Bound For Glory. TNA has put time into Team 3-D by having them beat almost every team in TNA as well as having Team 3-D seem on a bigger level than America's Most Wanted since they have only lost to the team on a technicality. With that said, there is a very slim chance that The James Gang will win tonight especially after BG James expressed concern over TNA having no long term plans for them on an internet radio show recently.

These plans are subject to change, but right now, it looks like there is a member of the X Division who will turn his back on the division and join up with Kevin Nash. As of right now, this person is rumored to be Sonjay Dutt.
Sonjay Dutt has been highly praised backstage in TNA and has been lobbying for storylines for his whole time in TNA and this could be his break. This would also set-up a future Chris Sabin-Sonjay Dutt feud in the future which both wrestlers, who are friends in real life, have been pushing for to management for a while. It was originally suggested that Alex Shelley be in this role, but as he was already a heel, TNA wanted to go for more of a shock and give another X Division wrestler a chance to shine.
Like always, these plans could change, but it seems very likely right now that Kevin Nash-Chris Sabin followed by Sonjay Dutt-Chris Sabin feuds are coming starting tonight at TNA Sacrifice.
***********
Weird..I wondered why James Gang got the win tonight. Maybe this little blurb was true. Also, could Sonjay's injury be a work to lead into him turing on the X Division? As always, I doubt TNAs ability to think outside the box like that, but we'll see.

I am thinking that the James Gang getting the win is to continue this feud a bit longer so that they can then throw 3D back into the title picture. The James Gang used a pipe to finish the match which is how The Dudleys won their first match in WWE against The New Age Outlaws so this will most definitely not be over. Glad to hear about Roode getting the win as well. I do like Rhino but it is good news for the future of TNA to see Roode moving up. I also like the finish of the Samoa Joe/Sting vs. Jarrett/Steiner match. I like the direction that it is going. Eventually this has got to lead to Joe taking on Jarrett, Steiner, Sting and most likely getting the world title.

I'm just curious, PH...is there any way for TNA to win? They get blasted for putting ex WWE/WCW guys over their own men...and then when they make the effort to put their homegrown talent over the ex WWE/WCW guys (Roode over Rhino) they get "Hey, Rhino, maybe you should give it up if TNA won't even push you."
Just askin'. Personally, as I said above, I like Roode a lot more than I do Rhino, and wouldn't miss Rhino if he retired tomorrow...

He was young enough to not be considered a has-been and he really was never a "WWE guy;" he made his name in ECW. The comment really was more directed at Rhino. If TNA, which is starving to find 'stars,' is giving you this treatment...remember he went from an upset win for the TNA title to losing it a few days later to midcard fodder for Abyss to putting over the homegrown talent..all in the span of a few months. Seriously, he's headed downhill fast.

If I'm not mistaken, Rhino's contact is up in July, which would be perfect timing for the last ECW champion to make his return to the fed that made him known. TNA is best served in him putting over their talent up until he leaves.

Sonjay's Injury didn't look like a work, trust me...The Announce team didn't notice it happen either, and if it was a work, I would imagine they'd have been in on it...The camera wasn't really on him when it happened either, so....

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rhino jump. Poor Sonjay. That injury just sounds so painful.

Just checking, PH...I don't see why TNA shouldn't push a guy with an upside, be they from WCW, ECW, WWE or ROH. Rhino certainly shouldn't have his past affiliations held against him...though, I still prefer him jobbing to Roode than holding the World title.
Reports are that Sonjay's apparently fine...maybe a sprain and not a break or something.

I agree Tommy, TNA is doomed by certain fans that damn it regardless of any steps to succeed. Sacrifice was a solid show and anyone reading Internet results has no say as you read it as opposed to actually getting the PPV and watching it for yourself.
Again I think those who didn't actually see the PPV have less validity to their opinion than those who actually saw it and watched. Reading it off the Internet is so detached and depending on where you read them can be very biased if adding their own comments to the results. So you can say your piece but it doesn't mean squat unless you watch the PPV.
As far as people knocking the Dudley/James Gang match. It was entertaining and some great moments where they would pull off various moves to try and one up one another and made for some very funny and entertaining moments. Again this was a solid PPV as opposed to other PPV's they have had which have been strong in some matches and not in others. Yet this Sacrifice was entertaining all the way through.
So again before you nay say purchase the damn PPV!

From what I've read I like how the whole Sting/Joe/JJJ/BPP match played out. The fact that JJJ took Joe's finisher is a good sign for down the road. A convincing win over Steiner at the next PPV would be another good sign.
I really like their tag division. It may be full of WWE castoffs and old teams, but it works...and the teams they do have are pretty good 'tag teams'...they know how to tag wrestle. Having AJ and Fallen Angel team up is a good call...and continued singles matches and tag matches for these two would be a good way to build them. They aren't getting the 'Joe' push right now...but they are still homegrown TNA stars so they have to be kept happy and shown some respect.
The World X Cup seems to have been a success. From the matches I saw on TV (about 3 or 4) they were ok...not great, but its the concept and the idea that they can bring in good Japanese and Mexican wrestlers for a tourney like this that I like. Plus, it looks like the rub given to the Canada and US Captains might be enough to get them over as more than just 'X Division' stars.
I've been a bit dissapointed with Cage's run as Champ so far to be honest. Part of that is that there is SO much attention on JJJ and Sting...but his matches lack that sort of Main Event feel that you'd like to get. This is from someone who didn't see the match v. Abyss (and forgot Lockdown even happened!) but I think its fair to say I'm entitled to my opinion about his run as NWA Champ.
Overall I'd have to say this PPV was not a step backwards...and maybe...just maybe a 1/4 step forward in terms of using older name guys to put over TNA's own 'superstars' of the future.

For the record, both of Christian's matches against Abyss have been stellar. I think the point you made about how most of the attention is on JJ/Sting is the better reason for why Christian's reign has been lackluster. Hard to seem important when your storyline is midcard fodder.
See Chris Benoit's world title reign.

Regardless of how good their matches have been, the crowd has been consistently dead for Christian/Abyss during Impact. Blame it on the Impact Zone fans if you want, but when they're the only fans making it onto TV, that has an impact (no pun intended).
Christian's bombing out, at least in part, because he's a great snarky uppercard heel...and an awful p****d off babyface...which is what he's being booked as.

True. Again, this is where JJ hurts the company. If he wasn't holding the position of top heel then Christian could play the role he's better suited for.

Reports are that Sonjay's apparently fine...maybe a sprain and not a break or something. That's good...He was in fact carried from the ring, and he was tearing at his boot frantically...Dunno...maybe it's Trinity Syndrome (Carrie Anne Moss hurt herself on the set of the Matrix and was distraught because she didn't want to halt production...thought she broke her ankle)...Just might have thought it felt broken perhaps...
