Cory, I just saw your Japanese guys teaming up (Baba, Inoki and Rikidozan). I had thought about doing a Japanese Mafia gimmick with those three, once all three entered.
I remember the WWE was going to try it a few years back with Tajiri, but I thought they dropped the ball.

I remember the WWE was going to try it a few years back with Tajiri, but I thought they dropped the ball. I remember that Tajiri himself was sensitive about using the "Yakuza" term, as it really has a negative connotation in Japan and he didn't want to be associated with it, even in storyline form. Still, WWE could have done more with that group. They did give Tajiri a nice run as heel Cruiserweight champ, but after that, not much more. Oh well, Jimmy Wang Yang is now one of my favorite Smackdown wrestlers. And Baba, Inoki, and Rikidozan won't quite be a mafia type group, but hopefully an effective group nonetheless.

A night full of some wild brawls and great matches, as the USWA came home to Memphis!
June 22, 2007 Card #134: Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis
1) Team RPW members and former World Tag Team champions Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton defeated “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke in what turned out to be a surprisingly competitive opening match. Luke and Doring showed more teamwork than they had in the past. Doring actually busted Gotch, as he smacked him right across the bridge of the nose when he landed with the Danaconda. With Gotch woozy from blood loss, Doring hit the Wham, Bam, Thank you Ma’am and went for a cover, but Hutton made the save. Luke came off the top rope with a double sledge, but Gotch sidestepped him and caught him in a standing guillotine choke. Virgil got up on the ring apron to distract Frank Morrell and prevent a submission. Gotch tagged back into Hutton, who applied his abdominal stretch and scored a quick submission on the hillbilly. ****½
2) The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy made short work of “The Birdman” Koko B. Ware and S.D. Jones The popular duo of Ware and Jones had their bright spots, but the power of the Heenan Family team was too much. Bundy whipped Ware into the corner and then tagged in Superstar. In a move similar to their victory over Antonio Inoki and Mil Mascaras, Superstar whipped his partner into the opposite corner, so Bundy could hit his Avalanche. This time, Bundy held Koko in the corner and Superstar ran and splashed the “pile” as well, hitting a double Avalanche in essence. Superstar covered Ware, while Bundy nailed “Special Delivery” with a forearm smash to ensure the pinfall. These two could be effective in the USWA Tag Team title picture. ½*
3) Dan “The Beast” Severn kept up his winning ways, making quick work of Virgil. Coach Dick Hutton was happy to see his Team RPW teammate score another victory, this time by submission with a heel hook. DUD
4) The Flying Redheads also continued their winning streak, making a comeback to defeat The Vachons, who continue their losing ways! These two teams went back-and-forth throughout this match, exchanging the advantage and using their finishers on one another. Red Bastien was busted open after Butcher rammed him headfirst into the ringpost. Butcher later had Billy Red Lyons up in the hangman. Lyons looked like he was about to go out, but suddenly he kicked off the turnbuckles and rolled Butcher into a sunset flip for a very nearfall. The Redheads came back and Lyons came off the top turnbuckle with a flying body press on Butcher for a two-count. As he came down, he collided with Butcher’s head and busted him open. Bastien hit one of his picture perfect flying head scissors on the big Butcher and went for a cover, but Capt. Lou Albano distracted Paul Morton. Lyons ran in and dropkicked Albano off the ring apron. Mad Dog jumped in the ring, but Lyons nailed him with a dropkick as well. He and Red then picked up Butcher and delivered a double atomic drop. Bastien went for the cover and scored the pinfall after 30 minutes of action! *****
5) Sabu scored what many would consider an upset, pinning “The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt. This was an even match, with Sabu using his high flying offense and Hackenschmidt using his power, including the Russian Bear Hug. Abdullah Farouk distracted Kevin Christian at one point, allowing Sabu to bring in a steel chair and execute the Arabian facebuster. The two were exchanging blows, when Sabu hit a huracanrana on Hackenschmidt. The move put down the Estonian powerhouse for the three-count. **¾
6) Mil Mascaras got back on track somewhat, scoring a countout victory over “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. Orton looked his usual intense self, punishing the luchador. Mascaras kicked out of two piledrivers, but was busted open when his head hit the turnbuckle off of an Orton atomic knee drop. Mascaras hit two beautiful flying body presses and one cross body attack during the match, but couldn’t keep Orton down. With Orton outside of the ring, “The Man of 1,000 Masks” ascended the turnbuckles. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan stepped in front of his man to try and convince Mascaras not to come off, but the bloody masked man didn’t care. Mascaras came off with an awesome plancha, which brought the Mid-South Coliseum to its feet! Mascaras rolled back in the ring, but Orton wouldn’t be able to do the same and was counted out.
7) Ed “Strangler” Lewis defeated Texas champion Justin Credible in a non-title match. Lewis’ focus here was using the Strangler’s Headlock to wear down the brawler, as he applied the hold several times. Lewis’ great grip strength was demonstrated as his squeezing on of the headlock drew blood on Credible. Credible came back and used That’s Incredible, as well as a flying body press off the top rope (with which he used to pin Bruiser Brody on June 8 in Louisville), but both times Strangler kicked out. Lewis threw Credible again with the headlock and finally got the tap out. ***
8) The “Nature Boy” returned to action as Buddy Rogers teamed up with “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody to defeat “Playboy” Buddy Rose, Gorgeous George, and Chris Candido. This was a wild six-man match, as Paul Morton was knocked down in the opening minutes after a missed dropkick from Candido on Rogers. Naturally all six men got involved, but thankfully Morton recovered and resumed officiating. George seemed to still be shaken up from his beating by Brody on the last card, as he took a lot of punishment. Rogers had George locked in the figure-four grapevine, but Rose saved his partner from submitting. Brody gave him some punishment as well, hitting the jumping knee drop, but Cherie Dupré would cause a distraction to save her man. The “Playboy” did see action, as he scored a nearfall on the “Superfly” after a sunset flip, but Snuka would come back to hit a Superfly Leap. The leap didn’t get the full impact and Rose was able to kick out. Candido came back in and Snuka came off the top rope again, this time with a flying body press, but again only got two. George and Rose jumped in, but were cut off by Brody and Rogers respectively. Those four took their brawl to the floor. In the midst of the chaos, Snuka hit a piledriver on Candido to score the pinfall. ***¼
9) Animal returned to action, but didn’t see the same success as Rogers, as he and Hawk lost to the World Tag Team champions The Midnight Express in what turned out to be a wild Street Fight. This one took place both in and out of the ring and featured weapons, such as a rope, a steel chair, a chain, a title belt, and a Singapore cane involved at various times. Eaton and Condrey hit the Midnight Massacre on Hawk in the opening minutes, but it was too early to attempt a pinfall and Hawk kicked out. The L.O.D. controlled a lot of the action from this point, as they hit “Loverboy” Dennis with the Doomsday Device, while Eaton was knocked down in the corner, but Jim Cornette jumped in to break up the count. Paul Ellering ran in and chased him out of the ring. As he went on the chase, Justin Credible caught “Precious” Paul with a superkick, then executed a DDT on the arena floor. Several USWA referees and officials came down and helped Ellering to the back, taking him out of the match. The Warriors stayed strong and maintained control, but the four-on-two advantage for the Express eventually got the better of them. “Beautiful” Bobby didn’t look too beautiful as he and Hawk both bled buckets. The Express eventually hit the Massacre again on Hawk, but Animal broke up the pin attempt. Credible jumped in the ring and nailed Animal in the back with the cane. Then he and Eaton locked Animal in the ropes. Credible nailed him with more shots to the back from outside the ring. Meanwhile Eaton and Condrey executed the Rocket Launcher on Hawk. Just to ensure victory, they hit a second Rocket Launcher, allowing Eaton to score the pinfall. Cornette celebrate with his victorious, yet wounded team. Thankfully neither Animal nor Ellering suffered any injuries from this wild battle. ****½
10) The Sheik put his USWA Southern Heavyweight gold on the line against Greg “The Hammer” Valentine in the main event. The champ started off wildly, biting away at Valentine’s forehead and using his sharp object to jab at him. After an elbow drop to the head, Valentine would be busted open. But “The Hammer” wasn’t down, as Capt. Lou got involved and allowed Valentine to recover and apply the figure-four leglock. Valentine held the move on for about two minutes and the Mid-South Coliseum was rocking, figuring there was no way Sheik could escape. But somehow the champ got to the ropes and rolled out of the ring. Meanwhile, Abdullah Farouk went around the ring and took a swing at Albano. The two managers started to tangling at ringside, which gained the attention of Jerry Calhoun. While Calhoun was trying to separate the two, Sheik crawled back in the ring and blasted the bloodied challenger with a huge fireball! Valentine dropped to the mat and Sheik made the cover. Calhoun turned around and counted the pinfall. Sheik got his usual reception of boos and litter as he and Farouk made their way back to the locker room. ****½
Coming up in the next report—find out Antonio Inoki’s next challenger. A final meeting between enemies could take place and TWO Texas champions?!?! Plus a preview for the upcoming bout at Budokan Hall between Giant Baba and Nick Bockwinkel!

Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling on June 23 and June 30:*Antonio Inoki’s next challenger for the USWA World Heavyweight championship was announced. It will be—Bruiser Brody! The New Mexican madman will challenge Inoki on July 6 in Dallas at the Sportatorium. Brody is typically more popular in the Texas cities, due to his time wrestling in WCCW prior to coming to the USWA, and will finally receive the title shot he has been seeking. However Inoki has some history in Dallas, as he debuted there a year ago and pinned then-World champion Nick Bockwinkel in a tag team match at the Cotton Bowl. This will be a memorable main event! *Also on that card, there will be two Texas title matches…that’s right! Justin Credible will put his USWA Texas championship on the line, but the wildly popular Kevin Von Erich will defend his WCCW Texas gold as well! Longtime USWA fans will recall that Kevin wrestled with his brothers David and Kerry at New Year’s Knockout II. The high flying Texan appeared in the WMC-TV studios on June 30 and said that he looks forward to competing in front of the great USWA fans. Justin Credible and Jim Cornette interrupted and called Kevin a “phony champion” and claimed that Kevin’s challenger (“Capt. Redneck” Richard Murdoch), who in Cornette’s words is a “true” Texan, will defeat Kevin, while Justin would retain his gold. Kevin laughed, claiming that Cornette knows nothing about true Texans since he is from Kentucky and Justin is from New York! Cornette said that we will see come July 6 who is the true champ of Texas. *Two big matches were announced for the card on July 13 at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville. First of all, a huge six-man tag team bout will take place, as current World Heavyweight champion Antonio Inoki will team with the returning Giant Baba and the debuting Rikidozan to battle Heenan Family members Bob Orton, Sr., The Masked Superstar, and King Kong Bundy! Bobby “The Brain” told Lance Russell that his men will embarrass the Japanese trio and spoil Rikidozan’s debut. The manager stated that Inoki, Baba, and Rikidozan may be fellow countrymen, but they’re fighting a family. *The main event on that show in some ways will be the end of an era. “Precious” Paul Ellering made a challenge on the June 23 episode to Jim Cornette for a Steel Cage Match pitting The Road Warriors and The Midnight Express for the USWA World Tag Team titles in Knoxville! The “Louisville Slugger” accepted the challenge the following week, but added a stipulation—that if The Legion of Doom do not win the titles, they will not receive another shot as long as “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis hold the belts. Ellering came out and accepted the provisions, stating that with Cornette and Justin Credible locked outside the ring, Hawk and Animal will only need one more chance to win the belts. *With two big USWA cards coming up, let’s not forget, fans, about the match that will take place between two USWA wrestlers on an All-Japan Pro Wrestling event. Giant Baba and Nick Bockwinkel will lock-up at the famed Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Rumors are that Bockwinkel may still be feeling the effects of his concussion and may not be at 100%. Bobby Heenan stated that those rumors are “bunk” and Bockwinkel is ready to defeat the Japanese giant in his native land. Sources say that Baba is fully healed from his neck problems and is geared for a big victory over former champion Bockwinkel. Even though both Baba and Bockwinkel have been in the USWA since its inception, they have only met twice in a one-on-one match during Bockwinkel’s first World title reign (see Cory's USWA:A-Z). While this match won’t count towards USWA win-loss records, it will lead to bragging rights for the winner once both return to USWA action. Who will come out on top in this historic bout? The next report will be focused on the result of the Baba-Bockwinkel bout and have the preview for Card #135 in Dallas!

July 3, 2007 All-Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo
Giant Baba vs. Nick Bockwinkel
This match will air in its entirety on an extended edition of USWA Championship Wrestling on July 7, after the USWA card in Dallas. The bout started off in typical Japanese fashion, with each combatant in their respective corners and the fans throwing streamers as they are introduced. Although Bobby “The Brain” Heenan could not make this event and be in Bockwinkel’s corner, the former USWA World Heavyweight champ had several American wrestlers or gaijins at ringside. Baba had several wrestlers in his corner as well, most notably Baba’s former USWA World Tag Team championship partner The “Intelligent, Sensational” Destroyer and soon-to-be USWA superstar Rikidozan.
Baba and Bockwinkel started off with some great mat wrestling, going hold-for-hold with one another. Baba pulled off a dropkick early on, which popped his home country fans big time. As things picked up, Bockwinkel focused his attack on Baba’s neck, choking the giant on the ropes and driving knees into his neck. He locked on the figure-four leglock, but Baba quickly grabbed the ropes. Bockwinkel continued the attack on the neck, dropping the big man with a piledriver. Baba was on the arena floor, where Bockwinkel drove him into the ringpost, busting him open. Luckily Baba had the advantage of a 20-count on the floor, which many Japanese promotions use, so he had time to recuperate. Rikidozan started to help Baba to his feet, but Bockwinkel kicked Rikidozan’s hands away and then continued to pummel Baba’s neck. The Budokan Hall crowd was shocked at this disrespect. Rikidozan yelled at Bockwinkel, but did not attack. It looked as if Baba would suffer defeat in his home country, but he came back. He rallied back with several of his signature chops and boots, and then used the Russian leg sweep several times, which sent Bockwinkel’s head crashing backwards into the mat and may have aggravated his concussions, as Bock started to look woozy. Baba whipped Bockwinkel into the ropes, then bounced off the opposite ropes, coming back with the dreaded neckbreaker drop! The Budokan fans erupted. Baba went for a cover, but Bockwinkel somehow managed to kick out at 2¾. The crowd was stunned at this, but clapped in respect for Bockwinkel’s stamina and strength. Baba picked up Bockwinkel again and delivered a second neckbreaker drop. This time he put Bockwinkel down for the three-count in a great comeback and a great victory in his homeland! ****½
Remember, fans, Dallas, TX hosts an awesome card on July 6 at the Sportatorium! *In a big grudge match, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers take on Gorgeous George and Chris Candido. The former World Tag Team champions are glad about their victory in the six-man tag team match, but want George and Candido in a standard tag bout. Can they achieve another victory? *Speaking of tag teams and grudges, the World Tag Team champions The Midnight Express will take on The Vachons. The war between Jim Cornette and Capt. Lou Albano isn’t over yet, as these two teams will lock-up before The Express put the gold on the line in a Cage Match. Can The Vachons finally get a victory and weaken the champs before their big bout or will “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis ride their momentum off their Street Fight victory? *In a special attraction, Kevin Von Erich puts the WCCW Texas title on the line against “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch. Two great Texans do battle. Will it be the high flying, popular Von Erich retaining his gold or will the wily brawler Murdoch win it? *In the second of two Texas title bouts, Justin Credible defends the USWA version against one-half of The Road Warriors—Animal. Before the big Cage Match for the World Tag Team titles, Animal wants to lock-up with The Midnights’ bodyguard and try to take his coveted Texas title away. Credible of course aided in the attack on Animal’s back, using the Singapore cane. Plus, Animal holds a pinfall victory over the champ from a tag team match back on January 12 in Knoxville, during Justin’s first reign. Can Animal capture singles gold or will Justin prove to be a “true” Texas champ? *The huge main event will be for the World Heavyweight championship as Antonio Inoki defends against Bruiser Brody. Brody has been gunning for a shot for over a year and will finally get it. As reported last time, both men have some connection to Dallas and the Texas fans. Who will walk out the top man in the USWA? Plus, Mil Mascaras battles Sabu in a high flying affair, The Flying Redheads battle former World Tag Team champions and Team RPW members Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton, and more great matches coming to the Lone Star State!
I'll be on vacation the next two weeks, so I don't know how much I'll get to play and/or if I'll have regular Internet access, but don't worry, the USWA will be back. The rest of the summer should be HOT, HOT, HOT!

Hey, USWA fans! Ironically after finishing the card in Dallas (as well as the following one in Knoxville), I'm in the Dallas Airport on my way to Argentina for a week! I just have to say that the Dallas card had some awesome matches and an injury that affected the big Steel Cage Match! But--the cage match was still one of the greatest matches in the history of the USWA! Unreal! I'll post full results as soon as I can. Hope everyone going to G-Con this weekend has fun!

July 6, 2007 Card #135: Sportatorium in Dallas
1) The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy kept up their winning ways defeating “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. Superstar wore down Doring with two spinning neckbreakers. He tagged in Bundy and whipped him into the corner to nail Doring with the Avalanche. Bundy covered the “Dastardly One” and put him down for a five-count. ½*
2) Dan Severn also continued his winning streak, with a pinfall victory over “Special Delivery” Jones. S.D. actually looked like he was going to be the first to defeat “The Beast”, as he scored two nearfalls after two separate suplexes. Severn threw Jones down with a head and arm throw and put Jones’s shoulders down for the count. ***
3) Although he sported some burns from The Sheik’s fireball on the last card, Greg Valentine showed focus and scored a huge upset over Ed “Strangler” Lewis, who might want to change his nickname to the “Struggler”. Valentine controlled most of the action, applying the figure-four leglock early on, but Lewis wisely got to the ropes. As “Strangler” regained his footing from the pain of the leglock, “The Hammer” went to the top turnbuckle and came off with a falling sledge to Lewis’ head. He covered Lewis and picked up a quick upset win, which naturally made Capt. Lou Albano happy. DUD
4) Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton showed they still are a tough tag team as they gave The Flying Redheads their first USWA loss. It was mat wrestling vs. high flying here, but the Team RPW members had a little more of the control. Gotch got an early nearfall on Bastien with a flying mare takedown. Hutton hit a side salto on Billy Red Lyons, then applied his abdominal stretch, but Lyons reached the ropes. Lyons came back and hit an atomic drop on Hutton, but couldn’t get the pinfall. Ironically Hutton would score the victory on Bastien with the same move, which of course is Red’s finisher. The Redheads were disappointed, but showed no shame in losing to the former World Tag Team champions and shook hands with Hutton and Gotch afterwards. **¾
5) Another upset took place on this card, as Sabu, fresh off his pinfall victory over George Hackenschmidt, scored a controversial win over Mil Mascaras. The two traded holds early, with Mil gaining a slight advantage. Sabu rolled out of the ring in frustration, where Abdullah Farouk slid a steel chair to him, then proceeded to distract Frank Morrell on the other side of the ring. Mil went up and over the top rope with a slingshot plancha, but got smacked with the chair. Sabu tossed him back in and barely hit a triple jump moonsault, which only got a two-count. Mascaras scored a nearfall after Sabu missed a somersault leg drop off the top rope. Farouk again provided a distraction, allowing Sabu to dropkick the chair at the luchador’s head. He set-up the chair and hit a second and much better triple jump moonsault, then scored the pin. The Sportatorium protested loudly about the flagrant use of the chair behind Morrell’s back, but the decision stood. ¾*
6) Gorgeous George and Chris Candido got a countout victory over their rivals Jimmy Snuka and Buddy Rogers. George and Candido double teamed the “Nature Boy” early on, both hitting their finishers on him. George hit a nice rolling hiplock on Rogers for a two-count, then proceeded to hit him with some stiff punches, which busted Rogers open. “Superfly” made the hot tag in and went to work on both men. He hit Candido with a piledriver, which brought him victory on the last card in the six-man tag team match. This time Candido was able to kick out. Rogers tagged back in, but got worked over again. George and Candido got him in their corner and George snuck in some of his famed Georgie pins and raked Rogers across the face. Snuka jumped in to try and break up the action. Rogers rolled out of the ring, while Paul Morton tried to get Snuka and Candido apart. George went to the floor and raked Rogers again with the pins, then crawled back into the ring, like he was innocent! Due to pain from the pins and the blood blinding his eyes, Rogers was unable to make it back into the ring by the 10-count, giving the rulebreakers the win. ***
7) Jim Cornette and Capt. Lou Albano crossed paths again, as World Tag Team champions The Midnight Express defeated The Vachons by DQ. Not surprisingly, the managers got involved early, as Cornette tripped Mad Dog coming off the ropes, allowing “Beautiful” Bobby to get him in a school boy roll-up for a nearfall. “Loverboy” Dennis tagged in and the champs hit Mad Dog with the Double Goozle. The larger Butcher came in and chomped away on Condrey’s forehead. The advantage went back-and-forth. All four men ended up in the ring, but Butcher and Condrey took the battle to the arena floor. Capt. Lou threw Mad Dog a chair, which he cracked Eaton across the head with. Unfortunately for the Algerians, Kevin Christian turned around in time to see the action and disqualified the Vachons. The Midnights won the battle, but the war wasn’t over yet! Butcher dropped “Loverboy” Dennis throat-first across the security railing at ringside, then threw Justin Credible into the ringpost. Mad Dog proceeded to execute his piledriver to Eaton on top of the same chair! Credible and Condrey recovered by this point and were joined by Cornette in running Albano and the Vachons off, but the damage was done. Several USWA officials ran down to help Eaton to the back. It was determined that Eaton suffered a neck injury. More on this later. **
8) In the first of three title matches (two of which were Texas title matches), Kevin Von Erich retained his WCCW Texas strap scoring a quick pinfall on “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch. Murdoch got a close pinfall after blocking Von Erich’s charge in the corner with a boot to the face. Von Erich came back with his fast-paced offense and hit his flying body press finisher off the top rope, but only got a two. The champ wisely went to the opposite corner and came off with a second body press, which put down the challenger for the three. The Sportatorium gave their local hero a huge ovation afterwards! *
9) Justin Credible was also fortunate to retain his USWA version of the Texas title with a pinfall victory over Animal. The champ brought the Singapore cane in twice and went for Animal’s back, but couldn’t get the pinfall. He was even able to pick up the big man three times and hit That’s Incredible, but again Animal wouldn’t go down. The Road Warrior hit two power slams. On the second one, Jim Cornette got up on the apron to distract Jerry Calhoun and ensure no pinfall would be scored. Animal, who got busted open midway through the bout, continued to work on the champ, but Credible came back. He hit a charging Animal with an elbow to the head, then got him down with a school boy roll-up. Just to be sure, Credible hooked the tights and scored the pinfall to retain his gold. ***½
10) The main event was the big bout between two USWA fan favorites. Antonio Inoki put his USWA World Heavyweight crown on the line against Bruiser Brody. It is well-known that Inoki has great scientific mat wrestling skills, but the big Brody showed that he can go as well, as the two traded some nice armbars and headlocks, and even worked in some leg holds. The Sportatorium crowd was appreciative of both men’s work, although Brody had slightly more cheers tonight. He started to pick up the pace with some big punches and kicks, but the champ wouldn’t be intimidated. The champ scored the first nearfalls, after a top rope knee drop, as well as a belly to back suplex. He went for his enzuigiri, but Brody managed to duck the move. The challenger came back and went for the jumping knee drop, but this time it was the champ who would dodge the hold. Inoki landed an enzuigiri, which dropped Brody. Inoki went for a cover and picked up the three-count to retain his gold. Afterwards, the wild Brody showed respect by shaking hands with the champ, which the crowd applauded. ***

Highlights from the July 7 edition of USWA Championship Wrestling: *B. Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell appeared in the WMC-TV studio and were interviewed by Lance Russell. The Killer Bees said they knew that the last time they wrestled in the USWA they bent the rules a bit, even going so far as to injure Richard Hutton and Greg Valentine. But this time they will play totally by the rules and focus on winning the USWA World Tag Team titles. Russell asked if the Bee masks they wear to the ring and which often came into play from time-to-time in their matches would also return. Both Bees smiled and said that fans will just have to wait and see. *The biggest news was on the condition of “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. Eaton was rushed to a hospital in Dallas after the last card. It was ruled that he did not suffer a broken neck, but a severe injury and was very lucky. Bill Apter interviewed Jim Cornette about the status of the big Tag Team title Steel Cage Match. Cornette said he tried to get his mama’s lawyers to change the date of the match, but it couldn’t be done. The USWA Committee told him that Eaton could forfeit his spot in the match, but would be forfeiting the championship as well. Cornette said that Bobby himself decided to go against the doctor’s orders and will compete in the Steel Cage Match. The manager talked about the seriousness of a man with an injured neck going into a match, especially a grueling, violent match like a Cage Match. He brought up Eaton’s first partner in the USWA “Sweet” Stan Lane, who has not been seen in nearly a year after suffering several neck injuries from the Doomsday Device. Cornette said that combination of the cage and the risk of getting hit with the Doomsday Device is putting Eaton’s career in jeopardy. He concluded by saying he doesn’t care what the fans think of him (Cornette), but he hopes they give Eaton respect for what he’s doing in not giving up the World Tag Team titles without a fight. He walked off, but then came back and said that Capt. Lou and The Vachons haven’t heard the last of him and The Midnight Express. The USWA continues the summer with a big show at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville on July 13! *In a big tag team rematch from Card #134, The Flying Redheads will take on the hated Vachons! These two teams had an awesome ***** match last time, that saw the Redheads gain a victory. Bastien and Lyons are looking to get back on track after suffering their first loss and the Vachons are looking for that first win of the year, although lately they seem more focused on hurting people. Which team will walk away with the win? *Ed “Strangler” Lewis and “Playboy” Buddy Rose will do battle! We have two men who are struggling and hoping for a win. Will Lewis put down Rose with the headlock or will Rose’s knee brace and “Sensational” Sherri lead him to victory? *In another big tag team bout, Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik and his nephew Sabu will take on Frank Gotch and Richard Hutton one more time. Sabu is on a roll, but so are Gotch and Hutton. The war between Team RPW and the sadistic family duo is not over yet! What will happen this time? Can Sheik avoid the abdominal stretch? *In one-on-one action, “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers wants to get his hands on Gorgeous George. As if Rogers didn’t have reason enough to go after George, the flagrant use of the Georgie pins on a bloody Rogers has incited him even more! Can he beat “The Human Orchid” decisively or will George get another sneaky win? *A huge and historic six-man tag team match will take place as World Heavyweight champion Antonio Inoki teams up with the returning Giant Baba and the debuting Rikidozan to battle the Heenan Family trio of “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr., The Masked Superstar, and King Kong Bundy. Rikidozan’s achievements have been listed here before, but how will fare in the USWA? Baba looked impressive in his comeback win over Nick Bockwinkel at Budokan Hall, but can he continue and gain revenge on the Superstar? Superstar and Bundy are an effective duo, how will they do against this Japanese trio? And what about Orton, can he keep his momentum up? So many questions! *The main event will be an interesting one, as The Midnight Express put their World Tag Team titles on the line in a Steel Cage Match against The Road Warriors. Remember—if The Legion of Doom cannot win, they will not receive another shot as long as “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis hold the belts. But the big question now is the condition of Eaton’s neck, especially in a Cage Match. Will the Road Warriors win the belts for a record third time or can the Midnights do what is seemingly impossible? All this plus “The Man of 1,000 Masks” Mil Mascaras takes on “The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt and more great bouts!

July 13, 2007 Card #136: Civic Coliseum in Knoxville
1) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka pinned rival Chris Candido in the opener. The Fijian warrior hit a big Superfly Leap in the opening minutes, but a distraction from Tammy Sytch prevented a pinfall. Another picture perfect Superfly Leap a few minutes later would bring Snuka victory and bring Candido another singles loss. *
2) Dan Severn kept up his winning ways, pinning Koko B. Ware. “The Birdman” showed his skills early on, scoring a nearfall off of a sunset flip. Ware attempted to lift Severn for the Ghostbuster, but Severn blocked it, went behind him and executed a German suplex into a bridge for a two-count. “The Beast” threw Koko with a fireman’s carry slam, then floated over into a pinning combination to pick up the victory. *½
3) Bruiser Brody defeated Greg Valentine. “The Hammer” wanted to keep up his recent wins and looked like he might as he and Brody went back-and-forth, exchanging control of the match. Valentine hit a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Brody came back, slammed Valentine to the mat, and landed a big running leg drop, which gave the New Mexican madman the win. **¾
4) In a battle of aerial wrestling vs. mat wrestling, Mil Mascaras pinned George Hackenschmidt. These two met back in April in a first round match of the #1 Contender’s Tournament. The Knoxville fans were very into this match. “The Russian Lion” dominated most of the early action, trying to work in the Russian Bear Hug on the luchador. Mascaras’ mask would eventually be stained with his blood, but this wouldn’t slow down “The Man of 1,000 Masks”. He came back and hit a big slingshot plancha on Hackenschdmit who was on the floor. Hack almost got counted out, but Richard Hutton was able to encourage him and help him back in the ring. Mascaras came off the top with a beautiful flying body press, but knocked heads with Hackenschmidt, busting the Estonian open as well. Because of the collision, it took Mascaras a few seconds to make the cover, so Hackenschmidt kicked out. A second flying body press would put Hackenschmidt down for the count, giving Mascaras a win in an awesome match! ****
5) The Flying Redheads scored another win over The Vachons in another great match between these two teams. The action was back-and-forth in this one, although the Redheads were able to score more pin attempts on the Algerian brothers. Mad Dog and Butcher worked over Bastien midway through the bout. Out of nowhere, Red nailed Mad Dog with a dropkick to the face and then took him down with one of his famed flying head scissors. Mad Dog came up bleeding from the dropkick. Billy Red Lyons tagged in and applied his sleeper hold. Mad Dog started dropping, but Capt. Lou Albano got up on the ring apron to distract Kevin Christian. Bastien ran in and knocked the rubber banded manager off the apron and then went after Butcher to prevent an interference. Mad Dog was revived from the sleeper, so Lyons locked him in his figure-four. A bloody Mad Dog yelled in pain, but would not surrender to the hold. Finally the pain and loss of blood weakened him, so that his shoulders were down on the mat. Referee Christian counted Mad Dog’s shoulders to the mat, giving The Redheads the victory. ****¼
6) Ed “Strangler” Lewis defeated two-time former World Heavyweight champion “Playboy” Buddy Rose in decisive fashion. The match lasted about three minutes, as Lewis applied the Strangler’s Headlock and threw Rose to the mat. Rose did fight the hold and attempted to the grab ropes, but Lewis was a determined man. “Sensational” Sherri’s screams from ringside would not help her man, as Rose eventually tapped out to the hold. When Lewis released the headlock, a gash could be seen on Rose’s forehead. DUD
7) Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik and Sabu kept up their evil winning ways, defeating former World Tag Team champions Frank Gotch and Richard Hutton. Team RPW looked like they would have the match wrapped up as they worked over The Sheik in the opening minutes. Sabu tagged in to give his uncle a breather and locked Gotch in the Camel Clutch. Gotch managed to make the ropes in a corner of the ring. As he was getting to his feet, Sabu charged at him with a flying splash in the corner. But Gotch knee he was coming, caught Sabu in midair, and threw him with a big Iowa backdrop! Gotch went for a cover, but only got two. A few minutes later, Gotch had the Southern champ trapped in the center of the ring with the Gotch Toehold. It looked like Sheik actually tapped out, but Sabu jumped in and nailed Gotch with a big dropkick, so Kevin Christian was focused on Sabu’s attack. Hutton came in and took down Sabu, pounding away on him in corner of the ring, while Gotch nailed Sheik with forearm uppercuts in the other corner. Abdullah Farouk got up on the apron and started to swing at Gotch! Gotch grabbed Farouk and nailed him with a forearm uppercut, sending him to the floor! Sheik, who was bloodied by this point, pulled out his sharp object and nailed Gotch right in the face with it. He then fell on top of Gotch. Christian turned around to see the pinfall and counted the three. The Civic Coliseum was not too happy about this decision! ****
8) Buddy Rogers made quick work of rival Gorgeous George. “The Human Orchid” went for his spinning toehold early, but the “Nature Boy” kicked him off and regained control. He worked over George’s leg and applied the figure-four grapevine. George was locked in the hold for over a minute, before finally surrendering. ¾*
9) In an “international affair”, World Heavyweight champion Antonio Inoki teamed up with the returning Giant Baba and the debuting Rikidozan to defeat Heenan Family members Bob Orton, Sr., The Masked Superstar, and King Kong Bundy. The Japanese trio looked fired up tonight, wanting to make quick work of their rivals. Baba and Superstar started off the bout, with Baba controlling early, wanting revenge for his broken neck. Superstar got away and tagged in Orton, who worked over Baba, and then tagged out to Bundy. The World champ came in and locked Bundy in the cobra twist, but Bundy’s size and strength were too much. Orton came in, but was hit with the enzuigiri. As Inoki went for the cover, Bobby Heenan distracted Jerry Calhoun. Rikidozan came in and showed some impressive kicks and chops on Orton. “The Big O.” tagged out to Superstar and the masked man started pummeling Rikidozan. Out of nowhere a sunset flip from Rikidozan put down the masked man for a three-count, giving the Japanese trio the win and Rikidozan his first USWA victory! **
10) The main event turned out to be one of the greatest matches in USWA history, as The Midnight Express put their USWA World Tag Team titles on the line against The Road Warriors in a Steel Cage Match. If Hawk and Animal didn’t win, they would have to wait until “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis lost the belts to get another title shot. Beside the atmosphere of the cage, the champs also had to deal with Eaton’s neck, that was injured by a Mad Dog Vachon piledriver on a chair on the last card. Eaton sported a neck brace during the bout. Jim Cornette and Texas champion Justin Credible were at ringside for the champs, while “Precious” Paul Ellering was in the challengers’ corner, but their presence would mean little with the cage surrounding the ring.
Condrey started the match for his team, giving Eaton some time to rest. The “Loverboy” took some punishment from the Legion of Doom in the opening minutes. The challengers tried for a Doomsday Device, but Condrey nailed Animal with punches, as the big man went to lift him up on his shoulders. Condrey took over after throwing Hawk into the cage and coming off the top rope with a falling sledge, then tagged into Eaton. That looked to be a mistake, as Hawk and Animal dominated Eaton, focusing their attack on the neck with clotheslines. They successfully hit the Doomsday Device, but Condrey broke up the pin attempt. The Warriors executed a spike piledriver on Eaton, but “Beautiful” Bobby hung in there. Out of nowhere Eaton came back and rolled up Animal in a small package. He controlled the big man and even came off the top turnbuckle with a big knee drop for a nearfall! Both Express members were bloody, but came back and hit the Rocket Launcher and later a Double Goozle on Hawk, but couldn’t keep him down. Condrey rammed Hawk into the steel mesh and then hit his face-first leg sweep, but still couldn’t defeat Hawk. Yet the slam into the cage made Hawk the third person in the match to “see red”. Animal tagged in and scored a nearfall on Condrey with a big flying shoulder tackle. Still the champs showed their strength and tenacity coming back and showcasing their double teaming skills. A bloody and weakened Hawk came back in against Eaton. Eaton whipped him into the turnbuckle, but Hawk reversed the whip, sending Eaton crashing hard into the corner. Hawk went for a running tackle in the corner, but Eaton moved (or perhaps fell from exhaustion) and Hawk went flying through the ropes and hit his shoulder on the cage hard. Eaton brought him back in and executed his Divorce Court on the wounded shoulder. He covered Hawk, while Condrey kept Animal at bay, and the champs retained the belts in an amazing performance. Cornette was naturally ecstatic afterwards. The Knoxville crowd did show some respect to Eaton for his gutsy performance and also applauded Hawk and Animal as they made their way to the back, naturally disappointed. *****plus
NOTE: This was only the second match in USWA history to receive the “five-star plus” ranking, along with the Frank Gotch-George Hackenschmidt 2-out-of-3 Falls classic from last fall. (See Page 2 of this thread.) Awesome!

Keep em coming bro......... Will do, Kevin!Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling on July 14:*Bobby “The Brain” Heenan announced that two-time USWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel will make his return to a USWA ring on August 10 in Lexington. Bockwinkel will do battle with the man that gave him a concussion—Mil Mascaras! This bout will be a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Bockwinkel normally excels at longer matches, but how will he do coming back from a severe concussion? Heenan claimed that Bockwinkel will defeat Mascaras in the first two falls and embarrass him, sending him back “south of the border.” *Bill Apter interviewed The Road Warriors and “Precious” Paul Ellering. Ellering stated that The Midnight Express proved they are a great team, even with an injury. Apter asked Ellering if this would be the last of The Road Warriors in the USWA. Ellering “reminded” Apter that the stipulation was that the Warriors wouldn’t receive another shot as long as Eaton and Condrey hold the belts. Animal said there are some great USWA teams that the Warriors haven’t taken on in the ring yet. Hawk, who was holding his shoulder from the end of the match, added that they will battle any team and do whatever it takes to receive another shot once The Express do relinquish the gold. (Hawk of course concluded with “What a rush!”) Due to the extreme nature of the Cage Match, neither The Road Warriors nor The Midnight Express will be in action on next week's card, as they recover from the brutality of the bout. The USWA comes back to the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Evansville on July 20!*In a tag team rematch, Team RPW members Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton will take on The Flying Redheads. Bastien and Lyons’ only loss so far was the hands of the former World Tag Team champions. But Gotch and Hutton are looking to get back on track after their controversial loss to The Sheik and Sabu. Which team will come out the winner? *Rivals meet up again, as “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers goes after “Playboy” Buddy Rose. Rogers looked impressive in his quick win over Rose’s teammate Gorgeous George. Will this feud be settled once and for all? *Giant Baba looks for revenge as he takes on The Masked Superstar! During Baba’s absence, Superstar scored some impressive victories, in both singles and tag matches with King Kong Bundy. Baba is coming off a big win in Japan over Superstar’s Heenan Family teammate Nick Bockwinkel. Will it be the dreaded neckbreaker drop or the dreaded spinning neckbreaker that scores the win? *Speaking of the Japanese-Heenan Family feud, World Heavyweight champion Antonio Inoki will lock horns with the massive King Kong Bundy in a special non-title challenge match. Bundy also has an impressive win-loss record, suffering only one pinfall loss. Will his girth be enough to put down the World champion? *The Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik will defend his gold in the main event against “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. This will be Orton’s first shot at singles gold? Will he be the one to stop the Sheik or will the Syrian madman achieve another dastardly victory? All this plus Dan “The Beast” Severn takes on Gorgeous George. Rikidozan makes his USWA singles debut and the return of The Killer Bees!

July 20, 2007 Card #137: Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Evansville
1) The Vachons finally won a match in ’07! And it was a big victory at that, as Capt. Lou Albano’s team made short work of “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody. Snuka and Brody were actually the first team to score a pinfall victory on the Vachons in ’06 and these teams have had great battles in the past. Mad Dog and Butcher attacked the popular team right at the bell. Mad Dog choked Brody with his own chain, while Kevin Christian was distracted by the action in the ring. Brody was weakened and never officially participated in the match. Butcher tagged out to his brother, who gave Snuka a deadly piledriver. Rather than go for a cover, Mad Dog picked Snuka up and delivered a second piledriver, which put the “Superfly” down for the three-count. DUD
2) The Killer Bees made their return to the USWA rings and got a DQ win over “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. The Evansville fans were behind The Bees in their return bout. They kept Doring in the ring the entire match, showcasing their double teaming skills. They hit their Bee Sting finisher on Doring and “Jumping” Jim Brunzell went for a cover. Luke grabbed his lucky horseshoe and clocked Brunzell on the head with it. Frank Morrell was trying to get B. Brian Blair out of the ring, but turned around in time to see the illegal action and called for the bell. ¼*
3) Rikidozan won his first singles match, with a pinfall victory over Virgil. Evansville fans got to see some of the Japanese superstar’s trademark moves, such as the Boston Crab and stiff overhead chops. Rikidozan got the pinfall after throwing Virgil with his famous hiplock. *¼
4) Gorgeous George scored his first pin or submission win of the year, ending Dan Severn’s winning streak. “The Beast” looked like he would get a big win, as he threw the “Human Orchid” around the ring with his fireman’s carry slam and several German suplexes. George bailed out of the ring and got Severn to follow him. Severn charged in at George, but George sidestepped him and Severn hit head-first into the ringpost. George tossed him back into the ring and applied his spinning toe hold. Severn would not surrender, but was weakened from the ringpost and passed out. Kevin Christian counted Severn’s shoulders down for the three-count. *¾
5) Mil Mascaras defeated Chris Candido. The luchador used his fast-paced offense to dazzle the blonde bombshell. A cross body attack would bring Mascaras victory prior to his big 2-out-of-3 Falls Match with Nick Bockwinkel on the next card. **½
6) Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton scored their second victory over The Flying Redheads, but this time by countout. This bout was back-and-forth. The Evansville fans favored The Redheads on this occasion, but were not disrespectful to the Team RPW members. Gotch applied his crossface and bar arm on Red Bastien twice to try and force him to surrender. Billy Red Lyons looked like he would gain the win for his team, as he executed a big atomic drop on Hutton and then applied his sleeper hold. Hutton was able to get to the ropes. Bastien came back in and whipped Hutton into the ropes. Hutton reversed the whip and when Red bounced back, the two collided hard. Bastien fell to the floor, while Hutton dropped to the mat. Hutton was able to get to his feet, but Bastien could not and was counted out. In a sign of sportsmanship, Hutton and Gotch helped Bastien to his feet afterwards and shook hands with him and Lyons. Bastien was shook up, but suffered no injuries. ***
7) Heated rivals “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers and “Playboy” Buddy Rose battled to a wild double disqualification. Rose once again made frequent use of his knee brace as a weapon, busting Rogers open with it. He came off the top rope with the Bombs Away, while “Sensational” Sherri Martel distracted Frank Morrell, but Rogers managed to kick out. Martel got on the apron again, while Rose went up the ropes, presumably for a second Bombs Away. Jimmy Snuka ran down to ringside and shoved Rose off the top rope, while Sherri still had Morrell distracted. Rogers got Rose with a school boy roll-up. Morrell turned around and counted, but Rose still managed to kick out. Gorgeous George and Chris Candido, along with Cherie Dupré and Tammy Sytch, ran down to protest Snuka’s presence. Bruiser Brody soon followed as well and it turned into a pier six brawl with all six men fighting in and out of the ring! Morrell had no choice but to disqualify both men for their allies’ involvement. **¾
8) Giant Baba got revenge for his neck injury with a big win over The Masked Superstar. The story of this match was both men focused their attacks on the other man’s neck. Baba hit the dreaded neckbreaker drop in the first minute of the match, but Bobby “The Brain” Heenan distracted Jerry Calhoun to prevent a quick pinfall. Superstar used a big clothesline as well as his own dreaded spinning neckbreaker twice to try and re-injure Baba’s neck. The masked man also tried to put Baba out with his Cobra Hold. Baba hit his head on the mat and was busted open, but fought back, determined to get revenge. He hit a piledriver on Superstar and got a two-count. He dropped Superstar hard on his neck with a back suplex and scored the hard-earned victory! ****
9) World Heavyweight champion Antonio Inoki also scored a victory over a Heenan Family member, defeating the giant King Kong Bundy in a non-title contest. Bundy started strong in the bout, powering out of a full nelson and ramming Inoki into the turnbuckles. He followed up with a big elbow drop and a cover, but only got a two-count. He executed a running power slam, but Inoki still kicked out. The champ showed his fortitude by coming back and wearing down the big man, perhaps exhausting him. He nailed Bundy with four enzuigiris. The kicks weakened Bundy and eventually knocked him off his feet. Inoki covered Bundy, but Bobby Heenan distracted Jerry Calhoun. Inoki continued to attack the big man. He came off the top rope with a big knee drop and covered Bundy to score the 1-2-3. Inoki is only the second man in the USWA, after Mil Mascaras, to score a pinfall victory on Bundy. **¾
10) The evil Sheik put his USWA Southern Heavyweight title on the line against “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. in the main event. After the main event introductions from Gary Michael Cappetta, Orton was talking with Bobby Heenan in the corner. “The Brain” wasn’t aware that the champ’s manager, Abdullah Farouk, had snuck around the ring to their corner. He spun Heenan around and threw white powder in Heenan’s eyes, which basically took him out of the match. Several referees and officials helped Heenan to the back. Orton showing concern for his manager was distracted and the champ took it to him from the bell. The Sheik’s famed sharp object came into play in the opening minutes on the challenger. Sheik locked in the Camel Clutch and jabbed Orton with the object, while concealing it from Jerry Calhoun. Orton quickly gave up to the hold after only about three minutes of action. While fans do not like the Heenan Family, they despise Sheik and Farouk even more and were outraged by the actions! DUD
Coming up, who will be Antonio Inoki’s next challenger?

Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling from the last three weeks: *After the wild brawl in the Buddy Rogers-Buddy Rose match on the last card, the USWA Committee have signed a big match for August 17 in Huntsville, Alabama. It will be Rogers, Jimmy Snuka, and Bruiser Brody against Rose, Gorgeous George, and Chris Candido in a six-man tag team match to be fought under Elimination Rules! After the wild scene in Evansville, perhaps this type of bout will settle the score between these two trios! *Also for that card, Huntsville’s own “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton will be in the main event, as he and “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey will defend the USWA World Tag Team titles against their rivals The Vachons. Because of the wild nature of this feud, this will be a Huntsville Street Fight! The Express recently defeated The Road Warriors in a Memphis Street Fight, and again in a Steel Cage match. Eaton’s neck is still not 100% after being piledriven on a chair by Mad Dog. Jim Cornette stated that the champs will beat the “Algerian lunatics” once and for all. The usually quiet Eaton even spoke and said that he will gain revenge on the Vachons and Albano in his hometown, and will do it anyway he can. *As is tradition, there will be a USWA card on August 24 at the Nashville Fairgrounds. The Sheik is scheduled to defend the Southern Heavyweight title on that card, but a challenger has yet to be announced. *Bobby “The Brain” Heenan was okay after being ambushed by Abdullah Farouk. He said that he does want to get revenge on Sheik and Farouk, but that The Heenan Family has other business to take care of right now.
The Rupp Arena in Lexington will be home to a great night of action on August 10! *Bruiser Brody will go one-on-one with Mad Dog Vachon. The New Mexican madman wanted this match, after being choked out with his chain in the tag team bout on the last card. Who will win this wild and wooly affair? *The Road Warriors return to action after the memorable Steel Cage match and will take on another pair of former World Tag Team champions—Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton. The Team RPW members shocked the world back in January, winning the belts from The Legion of Doom. This will be the first meeting of the teams since that title change. Can the LOD get back on track or will Gotch and Hutton score another victory over the powerhouses from Chicago? *The Jim Cornette-Capt. Lou Albano war continues! Cornette and World Tag Team champion “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey will take on Albano and Butcher Vachon! Which manager will have bragging rights going into the Huntsville Street Fight on August 17? *Prior the big six-man tag team Elimination Match, “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers will once again meet “Playboy” Buddy Rose. This time, there will be no allowed at ringside, not even “Sensational” Sherri Martel! Rose stated on WMC-TV that Rogers is jealous that he (Rose) is a two-time World Heavyweight champion, while Rogers has yet to win singles gold in the USWA. Rogers responded saying that Rose was an embarrassment of a champion and an embarrassment of a human being. He called Rose a “Nature Boy wannabe” and that he protected Rose during his reigns as World champion. How will Rose do without his valet at ringside? Will Rogers be able to shut up the “Doughboy”? *Nick Bockwinkel returns to action. He will be looking for revenge on “The Man of 1,000 Masks” Mil Mascaras. These great technicians will compete in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Will Bockwinkel experience any ring rust? Can Mascaras beat him not once, but twice? *The main event will be a rematch for the USWA World Heavyweight championship, as Antonio Inoki will defend against Kentucky’s own Ed “Strangler” Lewis. Remember fans, last time Inoki was disqualified in Lewis’ hometown of Louisville, for not listening to Jerry Calhoun’s five-count, as he administered his stinging kicks. Will a new champion be crowned in Lexington or will the Japanese superstar walk away again with the gold? All this plus another big tag bout as two up and coming teams meet, when The Flying Redheads clash with The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy. Plus a rematch between Dan “The Beast” Severn and Gorgeous George, and Rikidozan in action!

NEW CHAMPION CROWNED! History was made once again in the USWA on August 10, as Ed "Strangler" Lewis defeated Antonio Inoki to win the USWA World Heavyweight championship in Lexington! The bout was not without controversy, as former champion Nick Bockwinkel, who returned to action on the same card, came down to ringside and put the challenger's foot on the ropes, as Inoki went for a cover. Lewis came back to win, putting Inoki down with his famous Strangler's Headlock. The cause for Bockwinkel's actions are unclear at this point. Look for full results of this card soon!
