MAY 2007 RANKINGS As of Card #229
NWF: NICK BOCKWINKEL (C) NA: THE SHEIK (NA) 1. Mad Dog Vachon (5) 2. Bob Orton (7) 3. Magnificent Muraco (2) 4. Rick Rude (3) 5. Larry Zbyszko (1) 6. The Crusher (6) 7. Brad Armstrong ( - ) 8. Playboy Buddy Rose ( - ) 9. Yukon Eric (8) 10. Don Leo Jonathan (10)

Notes: Mad Dog Vachon makes his second big move in two months, followed closely by new rival Bob Orton. Due to inactivity, Steve Corino drops off the list and hasn't been heard from since his loss on 5/4 to Zbyszko. Brad Armstrong makes his debut, but it may be short lived if The Sheik has anything to say about it. The tag-team rankings stay the same as last month with all the teams doing well over the past several cards.

Card #230 - 06/01/2007 Memorial Coliseum - Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada
Good day, eh? And welcome to the Great White North. Tonight's card features undefeated youngster Brad Armstrong taking on The Sheik, a "Last Man Standing" bout between bitter rivals, and a tag-team match that Mad Dog Vachon is just itching to get started! Beauty! Let's get to the action...
1. Danny Doring & Virgil b Bob Armstrong & S.D. Jones Armstrong was looking good, but Philadelphia's Favorite Son got blindsided by Virgil and kept in the ring for most of the match. Doring put an end to the fall with the Danaconda. Jones said that he will have a new tag-team partner on the way to the NWF soon!
2. Danny Hodge b Billy "Red" Lyons With the Flying Redheads having the next tag title shot at Hodge & Yukon Eric, this was the first test. Canadian Lyons had the support of the crowd in this scientific encounter that started with handshakes. Things got a little tense about halfway through the match with some punches exchanged, but cooler heads prevailed. Hodge won with the Oklahoma Sideroll in a close match. Lyons (and the crowd) thought he had a shoulder up before the three count. Hopefully, the hatchet will be buried by next week, as these two are scheduled to team together.
3. Diamond Dallas Page b King Kong Bundy Bundy was gloating about injuring his former partner all week. Despite his injured ribs, DDP held up well. Bundy survived a Diamond Cutter that didn't have full impact as DDP was protecting the injury. Later, DDP faked a Diamond Cutter, and when Bundy went to block, hit the discus clothesline for the pin. Bundy was livid and almost hit the ref after the bell.
4. Ray Stevens b Rick Rude The Albano/Heenan battles wage on, and this was a stellar match with a blistering pace. Albano saved Rude after a Bombs Away by Stevens. Rude came back to hit the Rude Awakening, but Heenan interfered. It went back and forth for some time until a bloody Stevens hit a bloody Rude with another Bombs Away for the pin in this marathon!
5. Larry & Curt Hennig b Antonino Rocca & Ilio DiPaolo Hennigs have wasted no time going right to the big names in the NWF. With Rocca just back from a brief European tour, the crowd was hoping to see the newcomers fall flat. Unfortunately for the fans, the Hennigs dominated, at one point hitting Ilio with each of their finishers in succession, but Rocca made the save. DiPaolo made the big tag, but Rocca had trouble figuring out the father-son team as well, and was pinned by Curt's Hennig-Plex.
6. Ivan Koloff b Larry Zbyszko Another phenomenal showdown in the Albano/Heenan story that was all Zbyszko early. The crowd even showed some support for the Living Legend, as what self respecting fan could cheer for an evil Russian like Koloff? Zbyszko hit three Piledrivers, and a bloody Koloff had to be saved by his manager. Koloff came back, and busted Zbyszko open with his chains, and it was anyone's match. Heenan saved Zbyszko from a Bearhug attempt by arguing with the ref. Just as the referee turned around, Koloff landed a devastating top rope kneedrop for the win to keep his undefeated record alive.
7. The Crusher b Mike DiBiase (Last Man Standing) Everyone was banned from ringside for this one, since several of the matches involving these two had ended under dubious circumstances. This was the third great match of the show, as just when one man would start to take charge, the other would make a dramatic comeback and regain control. Crusher was better in the early going, but seemed to fade down the stretch. Just when it looked like Iron Mike had the win wrapped up, Crusher fired up and made a last big push! A big Bolo Punch put DiBiase on dream street, and gave the Man Who Made Milwaukee Famous a winner! (Note: final tally was 10-9 for Crusher and there was never more than a 2 "token" advantage for either man).
8. Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant b Nick Bockwinkel & Bob Orton For some odd reason, the Canadian crowd wildly supported the Algerian Vachon. Vachon had a dual interest in this one, as he faces Nick Bockwinkel next week for the NWF Title and just came off a tainted loss to Orton in the Piledriver Challenge last week. Heenan was at ringside, but was only concerned with Bockwinkel, and left Orton alone. It was an evenly fought battle with momentum constantly shifting until Vachon planted Orton with a Piledriver to end it. Heenan tried to attack Mad Dog, but Valiant cut him off. Vachon wrapped himself in his chains and was daring Bockwinkel to make a move. The champ thought about it, but bailed out and walked to the dressing room.
9. North American Championship: The Sheik b Brad Armstrong Armstrong has put up some good numbers in singles action, but The Sheik is at a different level. The youngster was game at first, but the bag of dirty tricks that The Sheik uses wore him down. At one point, Bob Armstrong attempted to interfere, but was sent to the back by the referee for his actions. This left Brad on his own. It was a gutsy performance, but Brad got busted open and was forced to submit to the Camel Clutch.
There you have it! Yet another fantastic showing by the NWF! Next week, we return to Pittsburgh for a huge event at the Civic Arena! Here's the lineup so far:
* Ted DiBiase returns to the NWF! You know he'll be looking for a shot at Nick Bockwinkel, as will his tag partner Dr. Death Steve Williams! Look for Williams to debut the following week in Altoona, PA!
* In a preview to the tag-team title match in two weeks, you'll see two great matches! The first pits Yukon Eric against Red Bastien in what will hopefully be a scientific match! The second will see Billy "Red" Lyons team with Danny Hodge to face the Riviera Playboys in tag action! Can those two work together knowing they will be on opposite sides the next week?
* DDP will face former partner King Kong Bundy once again! Bundy wasn't happy with the result this week, and will be looking to crush DDP in Cleveland!
* The 15' high Steel Cage will be in evidence next week! Jimmy Snuka and Magnificent Muraco will see their singles feud come to a stunning conclusion in the most dangerous of all matches! Can Snuka build on the win in the recent Texas Death Match between the two, or will this be Muraco's chance to take down the Superfly?
* Your big main event will have NWF kingpin Nick Bockwinkel (boo!) facing long-time rival and former Heenan Family member Mad Dog Vachon! Vachon has promised that Bockwinkel will feel some pain in this one! Can Tricky Nick keep his record title reign going, or will it be Dog Eat Dog?
Tune in next week for another outstanding NWF event!

Tim, quick question regarding your fed. Do you use the Feud Table for fighting after the match? I use the original feud table. When a match ends with a roll of doubles, I'll roll on it. However, I only use the result if it makes sense within the context of what is going on currently or what I have planned in the near future. Thanks to everyone for reading!

*** NWF BREAKING NEWS *** In some significant, but not completely unexpected, news - two NWF grapplers have left the area. Steve Corino, whose focus seemed to fade once his feud with Justin Credible had reached a conclusion, has signed with a smaller East Coast promotion. Corino was a Top 10 wrestler for a good part of his stay here. His feud with Credible was noteworthy as he never lost a singles match by pinfall or submission to his rival until the very end. Oddly, Corino was recruited to his new employers by none other than Justin Credible, and the two are expected to form a tag-team upon his arrival. The other is big news. Literally. Don Leo Jonathan, a three-time North American Champion is leaving for the Pacific Northwest. Jonathan had unsuccessful runs at Nick Bockwinkel's NWF Title in early 2007 and The Sheik's North American Title in late 2006. His tag-team with Jimmy Snuka never really clicked, and he had been relatively inactive in recent months. He leaves as one of only two men to hold the North American Title three times (Giant Baba is the other) and is widely regarded as one of the top four singles wrestlers in NWF history, along with Nick Bockwinkel, Buddy Rogers and The Sheik. His overall singles record was 30-13-2 against tough competition. He set the North American Title reign record at 252 days (36 cards) in 2005, although that record was recently shattered by The Sheik.

This fed is so amazingly great it's hard to put into words how good it really is. It seems so real is the best way I can describe it. I truly feel this is the best fed any where on these boards, no offense to anyone else because there is some amazing stuff here but this fed has 'IT'.
Keep it coming................

Tim, as always your Fed is an enjoyable read. Would you mind posting your first few cards so I can see how you got it off and running? Slymm I didn't keep great notes back then, but I could post the results and a few things that I remember. The first several cards were mainly tournament matches for the 3 titles (8 men/teams), with some other stuff thrown in. I don't want to clutter this thread, so I'll post them in the "Legends Fed News" sub-board and PM you when I'm done.

Card #231 - 06/08/2007 Civic Arena - Pittsburgh, PA
A historic night to be sure, as the Snuka/Muraco feud reaches its peak with a Steel Cage Match, Mad Dog finally gets a title shot at Bockwinkel and the Albano/Heenan battles rage on! Let's get to the action...
1. Ted DiBiase b Virgil DiBiase makes a dramatic return to the NWF with a victory over former partner and bodyguard Virgil. Steve "Dr. Death" Williams got a huge ovation as well coming to ringside, but didn't stay long. Doc snatched Virgil's partner Danny Doring and carried hi to the locker to make sure there were no shenanigans. After weeks of TV buildup, the crowd popped when DiBiase put on his infamous black glove and leveled Virgil with it for the win. After the bout, Virgil was claiming the glove was loaded.
2. Mike DiBiase & Bob Orton dq Armstrongs Orton looked good, but DiBiase was clearly distracted due to his son's arrival. Armstrongs wound up getting DQ'd when Bob got a little out of hand making a save for his son. Bob has been doing his best to keep his temper under control, as he has a short fuse when the rules start getting broken. Bigger story here was DiBiase, who once fought beside his son against the Heenan Family, and now finds himself on the other side of the fence.
3. Red Bastien cor Yukon Eric These two favorites will meet next week on opposing sides for the tag-team titles. Match started out clean but got a little testy as time went by. There were a couple of out of ring skirmishes, but nothing too crazy. Finish saw Yukon try to counter Red's flying head scissors, but lose his balance and topple over the top rope to the floor. Yukon was stunned and counted out. There was a somewhat reluctant handshake after the bell.
4. Antonino Rocca b Larry Hennig Hennig is like a tank, but Rocca kept him off balance the entire match and got the win with the Argentinian Backbreaker. Curt was ringside and jumped on the apron to interfere but Ilio DiPaolograbbed his legs and crotched him on the ringpost. It was the first loss for the Hennigs (combined singles and tag) since coming to the NWF.
5. Riviera Playboys b Danny Hodge & Billy "Red" Lyons Hodge and Lyons fought each other last week, teamed here and will face off for the tag titles next week. Even though the two are the cream of the crop when it comes to technical wrestler in the NWF, this wasn't pretty. Playboys took full advantage of the tension between their opponents, as Hodge and Lyons did little to help one another. Koko scored the fall with a flying headbutt on Lyons. Billy got a little hot over the lack of support from his partner and it wound up with Bastien and Yukon in the ring as well. Security hit the ring before things could escalate further.
6. Diamond Dallas Page b King Kong Bundy Bundy pounded his former partner with power moves, focusing on the injured ribs. In an ironic twist, Bundy avoided a discus clothesline, and while thinking highly of himself, got nailed with a Diamond Cutter and pinned. It was the reverse sequence in their last match that led to Bundy's pifall loss.
7. Ray Stevens, Larry Zbyszko & Bobby Heenan dq Rick Rude, Ivan Koloff & Lou Albano Big six-man tag between Albano's stable and the Heenan Family. Neither manager wanted to get in the ring, but were active on the apron. All four of the wrestlers let it all hang out and were fighting all around ringside. Finally, evil Russian Ivan Koloff grabbed his chains and started swinging them at everyone, which got Albano's team DQ'd in this wild brawl.
8. Jimmy Snuka b Magnificent Muraco (Steel Cage Match) Huge blowoff to a great feud. Muraco held a 3-2 edge in singles match wins coming in, but had lost the Texas Death Match two weeks earlier. Once the 15' high steel cage doors were locked, Snuka was an animal! He continually threw Muraco face first into the cage. Muraco would get small comebacks, but never recovered from the initial assault. Fittingly, Snuka ended it with a perfect Superfly from atop the cage as the fans went crazy.
9. NWF Championship: Nick Bockwinkel ddq Mad Dog Vachon It's rare that a title match is almost anti-climactic, but after the cage match, the fans were spent. This one didn't last too long. Bockwinkel ran out of the locker room and attacked Mad Dog as the challenger was walking to the ring. It looked bad for Vachon, but out of nowhere Steve Williams came out and distracted Bockwinkel, giving Mad Dog some time to recover. Vachon took the battle to his comfort zone, outside the ring. Both tried piledrivers on the floor. The referee was being lenient about the rules since this was a big match, but soon lost control of both men and had no choice to DQ
Another crazy finish to another wild NWF show! Next week we take Altoona, PA by storm! Here's the lineup for the Jaffa Mosque:
* Steve "Dr. Death" Williams makes his in ring debut! He already made a big impact on this week's title match. Can he have a big impact on the NWF overall?
* Antonino Rocca & Ilio DiPaolo will face Larry & Curt Hennig! The Hennigs got won the first meetingbetween these teams, and are trying to make an example of the NWF's most popular duo! Can Rocca & Ilio step up their game?
* A frustrated King Kong Bundy will once again face his former partner Diamond Dallas Page! After two straight losses to the injured DDP, can Bundy use his mammoth size to get a victory?
* There will be a match between top contenders to determine the next wrestler to get a North American Title shot at The Sheik! Competitors have yet to be announced.
* Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant will square off against NWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel (boo!) and Ray Stevens! You know Vachon and Bockwinkel will be looking to make a statement as their title rematch has already been inked!
* Your big main event will be for the NWF Tag-Team belts as champions Yukon Eric & Danny Hodge meet the Flying Redheads! The bouts leading up to this have been more heated than expected. All four, while fan favorites, are fierce competitors! Will the teams be able to keep cool, or will this match break down?
Tune in next week for exciting NWF action from Altoona!

*** NWF BREAKING NEWS *** The NWF Board has announced the competitors in the match for the next North American Title shot. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong will face "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff next week in Altoona! Armstrong, looking to avenge his son's loss to The Sheik was lobbying hard for the chance. He'll have a tough challenge, as Koloff comes into the match with a spotless singles record since his NWF debut. Another match has been added to the Altoona show. Magnificent Muraco won't have any down time after losing the big steel cage match to Jimmy Snuka. He'll take on Heenan Family member Larry Zbyszko! Albano has mixed feelings about the Snuka feud. He's upset that Muraco lost the high profile matches, but is glad to have him available in the feud against Heenan. Albano had let Muraco focus exclusively on Snuka, as Lou's long-standing hatred of the Fiji native is legendary.

*** MORE NWF BREAKING NEWS *** In shocking news, Iron Mike DiBiase has announced that he is leaving the NWF for personal reasons. While no specific issues were brought up, it is assumed that current philosophical differences with his son Ted DiBiase are the reason for his decision. The father and son combo had battled the Heenan Family together in 2006, partnering with The Crusher in their efforts to unseat Nick Bockwinkel. The elder DiBiase never quite saw eye to eye with Crusher, which caused some tension in the group. Eventually, Mike took a chair to Crusher's noggin, which ended the tenuous friendship. This caused problems between father and son, which obviously have not been resolved. There has been no comment from partner Bob Orton on his status. And speaking of Bob Orton, a huge match has been signed for the June 22nd event at the Floral Hall in Dunkirk, NY (Chad Olson's favorite NWF venue). One week before a return match for the NWF Title, Mad Dog Vachon will face rival Orton in a dreaded Algerian Chain Match! Once again Vachon is proving that he has no fear when it comes to signing for matches. This is certain to be a brutal affair that no self-respecting NWF fan would miss! The Dunkirk show will be headlined by the North American Title match as The Sheik will defend against the winner of the Bob Armstrong / Ivan Koloff match this coming week!

His overall singles record was 30-13-2 against tough competition. He set the North American Title reign record at 252 days (36 cards) in 2005, although that record was recently shattered by The Sheik. Being a stat junkie, I just wanted to add a quick note about Don Leo Jonathan and why he's one of the Top 4 All-Time in the NWF. If you look at pinfall/submission losses divided by total matches wrestled, it should give you a decent idea of how tough a guy is to beat cleanly. Of course, this doesn't consider the "strength of schedule" type issues, but it's a starting point. Jonathan lost only 15.6% (7 of 45) of his matches by pin or submission. Only two NWF wrestlers (minimum 20 matches) have a better number - The Sheik (duh!) and...Sabu! Yeah, that surprised me too. Sabu only lost 8 of 53 by pin or submission. His overall record was 25-25-3 but he got DQ'd a lot. Now back to your regularly scheduled reports...

Card #232 - 06/15/2007 Jaffa Mosque - Altoona, PA
We're at the Jaffa Mosque, baby! It's time for the NWF debut of "Doctor Death," a #1 contender match for the North American title shot next week and what will hopefully be a scientific encounter for the tag belts! Let's get to the action...
1. Virgil b S.D. Jones Virgil scored a quick win over his former tag partner. Special Delivery got distracted by Dangerous Danny Doring while taking off his ring jacket and fell victim to a sneak attack by Virgil. It didn't take long for the Cobra Clutch to be locked in for the win. Hillbilly Cousin Luke, who we be S.D.'s new tag partner, hit the ring after the bell before Virgil & Doring could do any further damage.
2. Steve Williams b Danny Doring The long-awaited debut of Steve Williams was an impressive sight. He steamrolled Doring, showing off an array of power moves and mat skill. Doring tried to bail out twice, but Williams just grabbed him and dragged him back to the ring. Doc polished Doring off with the Oklahoma Stampede. He then made it crystal clear that he is looking to get his hands on NWF kingpin Nick Bockwinkel (boo!) as soon as possible, and will use any means necessary to do so.
3. Larry & Curt Hennig dq Antonino Rocca & Ilio DiPaolo Match mostly saw the power guy versus the agile guy for each team. The Hennigs remained unbeaten (and now 2-0 against Rocca & Ilio) when Rocca lost his cool after complaining to the ref about Curt's constant use of illegal tactics. His anger built until it finally exploded and he was DQ'd for choking Curt and not breaking by the 5 count.
4. Playboy Buddy Rose dq Brad Armstrong Crowd has really gotten behind Brad after his tough loss to The Sheik and in his ongoing battle against the Riviera Playboys. As always, Rose and manager Sherri Martel cheated like crazy. There were foreign objects and various plunder used which brought Bullet Bob out of the locker room like a man possessed! He nailed Rose, then grabbed a chair to continue the abuse, but the Playboy pulled Martel between himself and Bob. You could tell Bob wanted to cut loose, but wasn't about to hit a woman with a chair. That allowed the sneaky duo to escape with a DQ win.
5. King Kong Bundy b Diamond Dallas Page After two straight wins, DDP was looking to live up to his reputation as a top notch singles competitor. Bundy wasn't as overconfident as the previous singles bouts, and focused on DDP's injured ribs. Both hit early finishers, but neither was worn down enough to get a pin. After taking a pounding to the ribs and midsection, Page got crushed by an Avalanche and put on his back for Bundy's infamous 5 count.
6. Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens cor Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant Not only did the fan favorites have to deal with the Heenan Family, but "The King of the Piledriver" Bob Orton came to the ring with them. As soon as Vachon & Stevens tied up at the bell, Orton attacked the Boogie Man with a chair, effectively taking him out of the match! Orton then left and walked to the back. It turned into a handicap match where Bockwinkel & Stevens were clearly trying to injure Mad Dog before Vachon's NWF title rematch in two weeks. It ended up as a brawl on the floor. A bloody Vachon grabbed his Algerian chain and began chasing Bockwinkel around the ringside area! Just before the referee reached 10, Bockwinkel dove in the ring to beat the count, then dove out the other side and high tailed it to the back followed closely by Stevens and Heenan!
7. Ivan Koloff b Bob Armstrong (Winner gets next N.A. Title shot) The Bullet is one tough hombre, and has already become a locker room leader during his brief tenure in the NWF. His brawling skills were showcased here, as he more than held his own against the Russian Bear. It wasn't until Koloff nearly KO'd Bob with a cheap shot from the chains that he gained an advantage. With Bullet knocked silly, Koloff scored a win with a cross body block and handful of tights to gain the shot at The Sheik next week!
8. Magnificent Muraco b Larry Zbyszko With Muraco's rivalry with Snuka at an end, Albano wasted no time getting the big Hawaiian involved in his feud against the Heenan Family. Only a week after a grueling cage match, the Magnificent One got a huge win over the former N.A. champ Zbyszko. Match was dominated by Muraco, who won with a flying bodypress while Heenan and Albano were rolling around on the floor.
9. NWF Tag-Team Championship: Flying Redheads cor Yukon Eric & Danny Hodge From all reports, these four agreed that friends were friends, but this was business. Recent singles bouts between them got heated, and this battle for the teg-team gold would have no punches pulled. This was a great bout and no one held anything back. Hodge got pounded by the Redheads outside the ring early on. Finally, Yukon made the tag and cleaned house! From there, momentum swung back and forth. Finish saw Lyons (in ring) have Hodge (on apron) in the Sleeper. The referee called for the break. When Lyons finally released the hold, a nearly unconscious Hodge tumbled to the floor and was counted out.
Yet another crazy card of NWF action! When we make it to Dunkirk for next week's show at the Floral Hall (and you know Chad Olson will be there if he can find the arena), this will be the loaded lineup:
* Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams make their first appearance as a tag-team! They have had great success outside the NWF, but can they duplicate it here?
* Yukon Eric squares off against Billy "Red" Lyons in another singles match between warring fan favorite teams!
* The Boogie Woogie Man will face Ray Stevens! These two live for the brawl, and will probably start their match in the parking lot before the show and finish it at a local bar afterward!
* Diamond Dallas Page will team with Heenan Family member Larry Zbyszko to face King Kong Bundy and Lou Albano's Ravishing Rick Rude! That's an awkward position for DDP, who is starting to get some fan support in his battles with Bundy.
* One week before a return shot at the NWF Title, Mad Dog Vachon risks everything and faces rival Bob Orton in a dangerous Algerian Chain Match! The craziest thing about this match is - it's not even the main event!
* Your even crazier main event features two of the most hated men, not just in the NWF, but in professional wrestling! The Sheik will defend the North American Championship against evil Russian Ivan Koloff! The fans are hoping both get carried out on stretchers! Heck, with these two - it's a possibility!
Stay tuned loyal NWFers! Dunkirk will be rockin' (like Dokken) next week at the Floral Hall!
