WWE Championship Tournament - Round One

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels[/b][/center]
In an epic match to start off an unprecedented tournament, Shawn Michaels and John Cena went toe-to-toe for 30 minutes! At around the twenty minute mark everyone in the house was on their feet and the cheers were split down the middle! At the end Michaels went for a back body drop and Cena lifted him with ease over his head and dropped with a thunderous powerslam! Michaels ribs were obviously hurt as he tried to get himself up and couldn't. Cena slapped on the S.T.F.U. in the middle of the ring and Michaels was forced to tap out! After the match Cena helped up Michaels and raised his hand! The crowd went nuts for the 4 star match and Michaels and Cena walked to the back together.
Jim Ross wonders aloud how Cena is going to fare after such a tumultuous match, especially with the winner of Triple H/King Booker set to take him on in the next round!

Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga[/b][/center]
Most of this match took place outside of the ring, and it was apparent these two had nothing but hate for one another. A brutal match, but not short by any standards. The end came when Lashley went to slam the big Samoan, but instead caught a lightning-quick Samoan Spike that sent Lashley to the mat like a ton of bricks! Umaga made the cover and got the 1-2-3! Umaga stared down at Lashley and shouted some Samoan at him before being asked to leave by the referee. Umaga grabs the official and turns him inside-out with the Samoan Spike! Ross gives us a BY GAWD! as Umaga stomps and shouts his way to the back!

Randy Orton vs. Mr. Kennedy[/b][/center]
Kennedy started off strong, but this proved to be a bad matchup for him! Orton had evil in his eyes as he knocked out Kennedy with a brutal RKO that sent Kennedy out cold. Orton stared down at the brash Kennedy, but didn't continue his assault, instead turning to the back realizing he had more matches tonight.

King Booker vs. Triple H[/b][/center]
A very even matchup as was expected. Booker dominates most of the match, but he can't hold back Triple H who showed great heart. Triple H wins after a quick pin after a swinging neckbreaker! Triple H vs. Cena in the semifinals!

Randy Orton vs. Umaga[/b][/center]
Umaga is appearing to be unbeatable. A hush falls over the crowd as Umaga powerbombs Randy Orton (who is not small by any means) like a ragdoll into the turnbuckle. He gives him a Samoan drop then instantly picks him up and flips him over with the Samoan Spike! Umaga places one foot on the fallen Orton as the referee counts three and quickly leaves the ring!

John Cena vs. Triple H[/b][/center]
Cena was hurt but only 5 minutes in manages to lift the much more fresh Triple H over his shoulders and drop him with the F.U.!!! Triple H kicks out at 3 and 1/100ths and Cena advances! Triple H looks ticked as Cena walks to the back. Cena looks back and gives him the "you can't see me!" motion! This rivalry has just started! UMAGA VS. CENA FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

Shelton Benjamin wins! Charlie Haas is upset because it looked as if Benjamin made no effort to save him as Kendrick eliminated him! Lawler and Ross speculate that Benjamin knew Kendrick would be an easier out! Benjamin looks like the happiest man in the world as he hoists the Intercontinental belt high in the air to a not-too-pleased crowd!

John Cena vs. Umaga[/b][/center]
Umaga hits two corner butt smashes in a row and Cena drops to the mat. Umaga pins him for the quick and brutal win as Cena looks glassy-eyed as he attempts to get to his feet! Umaga flies from the top rope and splashes on the head of an already hurt Cena! Cena is out, but Umaga lifts him up in the air! The crowd boos as Umaga walks over to the ropes and nails the Samoan Spike SENDING CENA OVER THE ROP ROPE AND TO THE FLOOR BELOW! Cena has blood coming from his head where he landed! A few dozen officials enter the ring and paramedics take Cena aay on a stretcher! Umaga grabs the WWE Championship in his teeth as the New York crowd fills the ring with litter!!!
Jim Ross: "Umaga is the WWE Champion and nothing will ever be the same!"
