BEST TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS
“BULLET” BOB & “BAD” BRAD ARMSTRONG (low) beat “BIG O” BOB & “COWBOY” BOB ORTON (low) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) two falls to none (Referee: Nick Patrick)
--Brad took the first fall, pinning Bob Sr. with a flying head scissors and cradle. The Ortons never got out of the blocks in the second fall, as Bob put Cowboy down with a vertical suplex and float over to get the pin. An irate Albano berated his father-and-son duo all the way to the back.
LWF NATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH--SIX-MAN, ALL MEN LEGAL
The MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey, “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton & “Sweet” Stan Lane) (low) (w/ Jim Cornette) beat Champions The ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) & “The TENNESSEE TORNADO” JIMMY GOLDEN (low-m) when Lane hit Morton with the Superkick finisher and pinned him to win the belts (Referee: James Beard)
--Strangely, Golden never tagged in, letting Gibson and Morton bear the brunt of the match. Morton was busted open on the ringpost and had what Solie called “a crimson mask.” After Lane got the pin, fans cheered as the Midnights celebrated … but the cheering turned to boos as the Midnights stomped Morton unmercifully. Gibson ran in to fight Cornette’s men off, they backed up, and Gibson called Golden in to help. When Golden stepped into the ring, he looked at the Midnights … and then kicked Gibson and tossed him out of the ring! Golden then joined the attack on Morton and gave him a triple spike piledriver, leaving Morton in a bloody heap in the middle of the ring. Golden laughed as Cornette handed him a large wad of money and fans booed the team that had, at the beginning of the match, been their favorite. EMT’s then entered the ring and put a neck brace on Morton as fans watched in hushed silence, and Solie said, “No matter what you thought of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express going into tonight’s match, no one deserves this.”
LWF WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Champions The WEST TEXAS POSSE (Dory Funk Jr., Terry Funk & Barry Windham) (low-b) beat JACK & JERRY BRISCO (low-b) & “CHIEF” WAHOO McDANIEL (low-b) when Dory made Jerry submit to the Spinning Toe Hold finisher to retain the belt (Referee: David Manning)
LWF NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Champion “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) beat ANTONINO ROCCA (low) by disqualification when Rocca tied Rogers up in the ropes and wouldn’t stop kicking him to retain the belt (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan)
--Rocca let his Italian temper get the best of him, and Ross said he was afraid the high flier had just blown his shot at Rogers’ belt.
LWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Champions The FABULOUS KANGAROOS (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) (low) (w/ “Wild” Red Berry) (low) beat The DUDLEY BOYZ (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley) (low-c) (w/ “Little” Spike Dudley) (low-c) when Costello hit Bubba Ray with an axe handle move and pinned him to retain the belts (Referee: D ick Woherle)
--Berry showed up walking with a cane and wearing a neck brace, still hurting from the attack by the Dudleys weeks earlier. Both teams were able to maintain their composure and have an outstanding match, and the Kangaroos used their always-cool demeanor to their advantage as Costello got the pin to keep the belts. However, after the match, the Dudleys lost it as Spike attacked Berry, Bubba throttled Costello, and D-Von tossed Heffernan into the ring steps. Bubba yelled, “D-VON … (pause) … GET THE TABLE!” A table was set up in the ring, and the Dudleys gave Costello the Dudley Death Drop (3-D) through the table! Costello lay motionless in the rubble as the Dudleys left and Berry & Heffernan crawled into the ring to tend to their fallen partner.
LWF MAIN EVENT--LWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH-- NO DISQUALIFICATION, FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE
The SHEIK (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) beat Champion LOU THESZ (low-b) by submission with the Camel Clutch finisher to win the belt (Referee: Tommy Young)
--This went all over the arena, with Thesz still ignoring weapons in favor of his superior wrestling skills. Sheik, though, had no such reservations, accepting foreign object after foreign object from Farouk. Sheik finally wore Thesz down enough to capture him in the Clutch, and Thesz passed out, returning the belt to the mad Syrian.
