this is what I was able to come up with. Tell me what you think.
---------------------------------------------
This promotion will be set in the ever popular “ not too distant future”. It’s a world where wrestling has finally fell onto it’s preverbal butt. Despite being the biggest company in the world, the WWE has began to lose money as viewers turned away from pro wrestling and focused their attention and hard earned money on the ever growing world of MMA. In this new climate Vince and company were forced to cut much of their roster and cancel their many weekly television programs with RAW remaining as their only staple on national TV. Their Pay per View schedule was also cut in half, with only 6 major events now held a year. Smarks everywhere began to rejoice until the fallout began to take hold. Companies like TNA and ROH soon began to feel the effects and before long they were forced to close their doors, never to be heard from again. Smaller independent companies also began to struggle, and many were put out of business leaving countless wrestlers on the street without a job. The situation in Japan and Mexico was no different as many of their top companies were shaken at the foundation. What survived was very little and wrestling fans across the world were left with a void where pro wrestling used to be.
In the ashes of a wrestling industry that had literally burnt itself to ground stood one man…some would call him a wrestling genius…but in all honesty he’s not a genius…he’s just smarter then everybody else! He recalled the early 90’s when wrestling was in a very similar situation in the states…he recalled how all the business needed was a kick in the rear end to get it walking again….he recalled the phoenix that was ECW. And soon a plan was set in motion, a plan that would bring pro wrestling back to the states even stronger then before. A Plan to make pro wrestling legitimate once again. To compete with MMA Paul Heyman knew what he had to do. It had to be something drastic. He would have to practically reinvent the business…change it, remold it…turn it into a sport once again. Gone would be Kayfabe and booking the outcomes of matches. In would come real wrestling matches and legitimate heat. While the WWE would continue to run a Sports Entertainment company, Paul Heyman would give birth to a real Professional Wrestling company. It was perfect…it’s just what wrestling needed….now all he needed was the financial backing and talent to get this idea off the ground.
A investment banker named Sunny caught wind of Heyman’s idea and soon the two were working together. Sunny knew that if this was successful it would make him and Heyman a lot of money. More money then either of them could ever spend. It was worth the risk. With his management skills and Heyman’s booking genius the project was announced. The wrestling world was abuzz and for the first time in several years there was hope once again for the smarks and casual fans. Heyman used his contacts and was able to gather together a roster of some of the world finest wrestling and death match talent. Nobody was sure if any of these guys were legitimately tough, but one thing was for sure, they wanted more than anything to make this succeed; to resuscitate the pro wrestling industry. And they’d do whatever it took, even if that meant putting their bodies and health on the line in legitimate fights. And so the date was set for a show to be held from a small Bingo Hall that once was home to one of the most influential wrestling companies of the 1990’s. The show would be filmed for DVD and many who couldn’t make it to the show live were eagerly anticipating the release of the filmed version. If the show went off without a hitch and was successful Heyman and Sunny knew they had a shot at getting picked up by a network for national television and an even better shot at making wrestling history…
These events of course happen in the same universe as COTG, many years before the birth of the POW and GWF….
