Card #8
Gordon Solie & Lance Russell open up the show with a recap of last week, beginning with the discovery of The Destroyer & Masked Superstar attacking Frank Gotch (at Harley Race’s orders) in the hotel parking lot, and ending with Nick Bockwinkel defeating Frank Gotch for the LWF United States Championship. It is noted that Bockwinkel & Gotch will wrestle in a rematch for the US title. Also, The Destroyer & former TV Champ, Gorgeous George will wrestle for the vacant LWF Heritage TV Title.
1. The opening match was George Hackenshmidt making his in-ring debut against Texas Teddy Bolt. Not much of a match, as Hackenshmidt tossed Bolt into the buckles, and caught him in the RUSSIAN BEAR HUG on the rebound for the submission. Winner: George Hackenshmidt over Texas Teddy Bolt via submission with the RUSSIAN BEAR HUG.
2. The next match was a tag team match, between the Stripper Club (Buff Bagwell & Brutus Beefcake) and the masked team of the Brooklyn Brawlers (Brooklyn Brawler #1 & #2). Gorgeous George & Cherie Dupre accompanied the Stripper Club to the ring for the match. The Stripper Club seemed to have a tough time with the Brawlers, but Buff was finally able to put Brawler #1 away with the BUFF BLOCKBUSTER. Winner: The Stripper Club defeated the Brooklyn Brawlers by pin after Bagwell nailed Brooklyn Brawler #1 with the BUFF BLOCKBUSTER.
After the match, Gorgeous George, Bagwell, Beefcake, and Cherie Dupre, made their way over to the announce area for an interview. Wagner said that tonight, he will defeat The Destroyer and win back his TV Title. When the DiBiase Corp. was mentioned, Wagner answered that there is a reason why none of DiBiase’s thugs are here tonight, and that is because the Gallery is in the house. Wagner said that the challenge is still out there for DiBiase to accept….a 6-Man Tag Team Match between DiBiase & The Valentines vs. the Gallery (Wagner & The Stripper Club).
3. The next match was “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers taking on Jumping Jimmy Jett. Rogers, for the most part, dominated Jett throughout the match. Jett did have a brief time of offense though, hitting his high flying dropkicks and a flying sunset flip, but Rogers quickly turned it around, locking him in the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. Winner: Buddy Rogers over Jumping Jimmy Jett via the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE.
After the match, Rogers tossed Jett over the top ropes. Rogers grabbed the mic. Rogers challenged Brody & Snuka next week to a tag team match….The Savages vs. Rogers and his “answer”. Out from the back walks…Paul Ellering!!!! Ellering says that he is now the manager of Brody & Snuka, and that the answer to Rogers’ challenge….is HELL YEAH!!!! Ellering says that Rogers had better make sure that his “insurance” is paid up, cause next week, it isn’t going to be just a tag team match. The Savages wants Rogers and his partner…inside a steel cage!!!!! As Ellering is leaving the ring, Rogers grabs Ellering, but Ellering turns and clobbers Rogers across the chin!! As Ellering is leaving the ring area, a hooded man walks out and confronts Ellering…..a flash of fire and Ellering hits the floor!! The man tosses the hood off revealing….ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER!!!!!! Abdullah begins to gouge at the head of Ellering with a fork, when Bruiser Brody tears through the curtains!!! Brody & Abdullah fight all over the place, with the Valiants and Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff joining in, along with the Road Warriors, Jimmy Snuka, Dusty Rhodes & Bobo Brazil also joining into the fray!!! The men fight back and forth for several minutes, until finally, the ringside area is in shambles with fans running for their lives…..
After many moments, the fighting is finally broken up, and the ring area restored to at least semi-working order, as the show continues….

4. The next match was supposed to be the Monsters of the Mat (Killer Kowalski & Ox Baker) taking on Mount Fuji (Giant Baba & Antonio Inoki), but Baker & Kowalski never came out to the ring…giving the match to Mount Fuji by default. Winner: Mount Fuji over Monsters of the Mat via no-show by Kowalski & Baker.
5. The next match was a rematch from last week, as Bruiser Brody took on Playboy Buddy Rose. Rose took control of the match, even hitting the BOMBS AWAY knee drop. Rose charged into the buckles, and ran face first into a big boot by Brody. Brody quickly followed up with the JUMPING KNEE SMASH, but before the referee could count the 3, Rogers and Abdullah the Butcher ran out to the ring. Abdullah went on the attack, bashing Brody with a chair shot, and immediately went to work on Brody’s forehead with the fork. Jimmy Snuka and the Road Warriors ran out, chasing Abdullah and Rogers away. Afterwards, Brody and Snuka started trading blows in the ring, until the Road Warriors were able to separate the two….Winner: Bruiser Brody defeats Playboy Buddy Rose by DQ when Buddy Rogers & Abdullah the Butcher attack Buddy Rogers.
6. The next match was to determine the #1 Contenders to the LWF United States Tag Team Championship (currently held by Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff), as the Simple Men (Richard Hutton & Red Bastien) faced off against The Valiants (Jimmy & Johnny Valiant). Captain Lou Albano came out to the ring with the Valiants. Great match here, as both teams really gave it their all. The Simple Men had the Valiants beat, though, but Albano interfered at the right time, breaking up the count. Bastien gave chase on the outside, only to be smashed with a pair of brass knuckles by Jimmy Valiant. Johnny tagged out to Jimmy, leading up to Jimmy Valiant, once more, smashing Bastien with the brass knuckles again…this time for the pinfall. Winner: (LWF United States Tag Team #1 Contenders Match) The Valiants over The Simple Men via pinfall after Jimmy Valiant smashed Red Bastien with a pair of brass knuckles.
It is announced that both Ox Baker and Killer Kowalski were found in the back alley behind the arena. Both men were unconscious, and both men were busted up, and had welts across their backs, abdomen, and legs….
7. The next match was for the vacant LWF Heritage TV Title, as The Destroyer took on Gorgeous George (w/ Cherie Dupre). This match went back and forth, with neither man really gaining any control. Finally, Wagner slipped to the outside…with The Destroyer following. This gave Wagner the opening he needed, and he smashed The Destroyer face first into the steel post. Wagner tossed Destroyer back inside and locked on the SPINNING TOE HOLD, keeping it locked on for several moments, until Destroyer was finally able to make it to the ropes. The Destroyer was then able to reverse another attempt at the SPINNING TOE HOLD into his own FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. But, before Wagner could submit, the DiBiase Corp ran down to the ring. The Valentines dumped the referee over the top ropes and down to the floor, while Virgil and DiBiase started pounding on Destroyer, causing a disqualification. Solie & Russell both questioned the purpose of the DiBiase Corp interfering, and attacking the Destroyer. Winner: (Vacant LWF Heritage TV Title) The Destroyer over Gorgeous George via DQ when the DiBiase Corp. attacked Destroyer. (NOTE: due to the match ending in DQ, the title remains vacant, and a rematch has been scheduled for next week inside a Steel Cage)

Before the Main Event, LWF World Champion, Harley Race, came out to the announce area for guest commentary (Race was flanked by The Destroyer, Masked Superstar, and now the Spoiler.). When Solie asked Race why the 3 masked men were out there with him, Race replied that they were out there to protect the Champion. Lance Russell commented that the 3 masked men were not bodyguards, but rather Harley Race’s “Masked Assassins”….
8. The Main Event was a rematch from last week, as Frank Gotch challenged LWF United States Champion, Nick Bockwinkel for the US title. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan accompanied Bockwinkel to the ring for the match. Bockwinkel controlled the match, but it seemed to be Frank Gotch that was pacing the match, as out of nowhere, he locked Bockwinkel in the GOTCH TOEHOLD. Heenan jumped up on the apron, causing a distraction to Gotch. Gotch went after Heenan, allowing Bockwinkel to recover. Bockwinkel quickly rolled up Gotch, but Gotch kicked out, only to be locked into Bockwinkel’s FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Gotch was able to not only reverse the hold, but also turn the hold into the GOTCH TOEHOLD, this time, forcing Bockwinkel to submit. George Hackenshmidt & Joe Stecher ran out to celebrate. Frank Gotch, as serious as ever, pointed at Harley Race, then made the belt across his waist gesture…Winner: (LWF United States Championship) Frank Gotch **NEW CHAMPION** defeated Nick Bockwinkel by submission via the GOTCH TOEHOLD to win the LWF United States Championship.
Match of the Night: (LWF United States Title) Frank Gotch vs. Nick Bockwinkel (ch) (Gotch over Bockwinkel)
SHOW RATING: 6.4 points (down 1.0 points from last show)
Next Time....it is SuperCard time, as the LWF hosts Clash of the Champions!!!

~ Buddy Rogers tells all, as he explains his reasons for resorting to "desparate measures" in bringing in the brutal Abdullah the Butcher.
