It seems a new wrestling promotion with a national cable outfit may be bursting onto the scene. Big Vision Entertainment has teamed up with MTV to produce a Pro Wres pilot to begin taping in February. What's promising is that BVE has some experience marketing Pro Wres in the form of Video/DVD material such as Hardcore Homecoming, Lucha and the Ultimate Insiders Shoot Interview series. Look for bare bones production values mixed with the use of local Indy talent and cheaper 'name' guys in an attempt to capture an ECW-esque environment with a similar approach to the booking. This could be the start of something big _IF_ the MTV Execs chose to buy a full season and really put their promotional muscle behind it. Only time will tell. Courtesy of www.socaluncensored.com Big Vision Entertainment and MTV will be producing a new television pilot for MTV on Thursday, February 9th in Los Angeles.
Now SoCalUNCENSORED.com brings you exclusive news on two dark matches featuring SoCal talent, as well as a special bonus match. Plus an exclusive ticket offer for readers of SCU.
Big Vision Entertainment and MTV Dark Matches
Disco Machine & Joey Ryan & Top Gun Talwar vs. Scorpio Sky & Zokre & Phoenix Star
Puma vs. Tommy Williams
And the bonus match of Human Tornado vs. Delirious vs. Luke
Other wrestlers taking part include Vampiro, Justin Credible, Sean Waltman, New Jack, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, and Teddy Hart.
These matches are so that MTV execs and the show's writers and producers can see talent that may be offered contracts if the show is picked up for a full season.
As far as tickets to the taping goes, "first come, first serve" tickets will be available at PWG's event this Saturday and a number of local shows before February 9th, however as an exclusive for SCU readers, Big Vision Entertainment will be giving away a limited number of "Guaranteed Tickets".
In order to get the Guaranteed Tickets, send me an e-mail at steve@socaluncensored.com with the subject "MTV TICKETS" and include your name, address, and e-mail. All e-mails will be forwarded to Big Vision Entertainment, and they will mail tickets out to you.
There are only a limited number of these tickets available, and all requests need to be in by February 2nd.
More info will be posted as it's announced.

YEah I suspect that too. Mtv does not show good programs so why begin now. I just hope this doesn't give wrestling another blackeye. Remember rock n' wrestling?

Since I've found MTV to have more damage on society than Vince could ever have, I will pass on it.

Here's an update on the yet to be named MTV/Big Vision Entertainment pro wres project. I'll probably Tivo it just out of the curiosity factor.
Courtesy of Lords of Pain
"Several well-known bands have been contacted about providing music for the thirty minute MTV wrestling pilot (20-23 minutes of actual footage will be shown due to commercial breaks), which will fuse in-ring wrestling with MTV's signature music and reality interview elements to produce a wrestling experience not replicated by WWE and TNA.
From all indications, the company, which was envisioned by Big Vision Entertainment and partially funded by MTV, will attempt to be a wrestling TV show and not a full-fledged promotion. But, if it does take off, it could provide another way for independent talent to make money showcasing their skills to a larger-than-usual audience.
As reported, Vampiro, PJ Polaco, Sean Waltman, New Jack, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal and Teddy Hart will be the stars featured on the pilot episode. Further episodes have not yet been ordered, as is standard in the television industry."

MTV Pro Wres Pilot Taping Spoilers Below * * * * * * * * * * * * Courtesy of PWBTS News
Wrestling Society X /MTV 2/9 Los Angeles, CA pilot taping results
# Human Tornado over Altar Boy Luke and Puma
# Jack Evans over Matt Sydal, after a sick 630 off the top rope.
# Vampiro and Sean Waltman won the 10 man ladder/over the top rope elimination match, which was a combination Royal Rumble/Death Match. Every two minutes, a new wrestler would enter the match, with eliminations as the result of a wrestler being thrown over the top rope either through a table, into what was described as a "tricked out electric box", or onto a chain-link fence rigged to explode. When the match got was down to four wrestlers, ladders were put in the ring, with the remaining participants having to go for the two contracts above the ring for a title match.
2 title match contracts were suspended over the ring. Wrestlers in Ladder Match: Vampiro, Sean Waltman, Teddy Hart, New Jack, Lone Star, Kaos, Puma, Al Katrazz, Justin Credible, Chris Hamrick.
Vampiro and Waltman are thus supposed to face each other at the next show to be crowned the first Wrestling Society X championship.
The show was held in an abandoned brewery, purposely made to look run down, with a lot of attention given to make it look like a "fight club" underground kind of atmosphere. The turnbuckles were covered with towels and duct-tape, there was no ring apron exposing dirt and debris and some lights and a fog machine under the ring.
After the Human Tornado over Altar Boy Luke and Puma match, fans had to wait about half an hour for the band to play because of what was termed "a local noise ordinance" which made them wait until 6:00 pm. The band turned out, however, to be Black Label Society, which many present found worth the wait. _________________________________________________

– The taping was held in a warehouse in an atmosphere designed to look rugged. There were no safety mats or ring aprons, and the turnbuckles were made of rags ducktaped to the posts. The fans stood in rock concert formation for the show.
– Black Label Society was the band that played for the show. It had to record its performance a number of times to get it right for TV.
– Atlas Security of ECW fame manned the event.
– There are reports going around that a number of audience members were contracted plants; one report says that the plants possessed more of an “MTV look” than the type of fan one would typically see at a wrestling show.

There are reports going around that a number of audience members were contracted plants; one report says that the plants possessed more of an “MTV look” than the type of fan one would typically see at a wrestling show. MTV also uses plants in the front "pit" at the Video Music Awards. Did anyone think it was just a coincidence they all looked like they could be on the covers of Maxim or Men's Health? Back in the "Club MTV" days, a chubbier friend of mine went to New York and tried to get on that show (all you had to do was show up at the studio at the scheduled taping time), but because she was hefty they wouldn't let her on. It's not like she was an ugly whale either; she was just a little on the thick side. MTV is crap.

# Jack Evans over Matt Sydal, after a sick 630 off the top rope. Wow, I know I wasn't a math major, but I don't even know what a 630 would look like. After 450, my brain turns off.

TNA Tries To Lowjack Wrestling Society X
Courtesy of pwtbs.com
On the day of the taping of the MTV produced Wrestling Society X show last week, TNA offered Sean Waltman a contract which he snubbed. Matt Sydal, Delirious, New Jack, and Altar Boy Luke will also going to be offered contracts shortly. Terry Taylor was given permission by TNA to carry out production duties at the Wrestling Society X show but that permission was withdrawn literally hours before the taping was due to start. The worry internally within TNA is that another wrestling show on prime time cable is going to affect their business, both from viewership and talent stand points.

Update time....
Courtesy of Wrestling Observer
"While the official pick-up has not been announced, MTV filing for trademarking the term MTV Wrestling Society X indicates a good chance the MTV wrestling project will be picked up. Two sources close to the project were optimistic, and an announcement of some sorts was expected next week regarding the project, but not necessarily the picking up of the project."

MTV's Wrestling Society X has officially released former ECW wrestlers New Jack, Chris Hamrick and Justin Credible, along with recurring TNA worker Puma, from their contracts according to PWInsider.com.
Puma has recently been working for TNA under a verbal release from Wrestling Society X, while Credible and Hamrick have been on WWE's radar as potential acquisitions for the ECW brand.
New Jack claimed at an indy show that he was going to be part of WWE's ECW, but according to company sources, no such offer has been extended to the wrestler.
Meanwhile, Wrestling Society X is working to secure new wrestlers ahead of production on its first season. While MTV has yet to formally pick up the series, it did trademark the name this spring, and most are of the impression that the first season is a go.
LWPD (losing talent that was featured in the initial pilot episode will be a tough blow)

Wrestling Society X Update
Courtesy of PWInsider.com
"For those who have asked, here is an update on the MTV Wrestling Society X project. Within the last week, wrestlers under contract to the series have been informed that a taping for the first season will likely take place at some point in October in the Los Angeles area. Several have been turning dates down for promoters, noting they cannot commit to events in October until the WSX taping schedule is set. There's no word if the series will tape the entire series in one shot (as was originally the plan when the pilot was filmed last February) or if they would do a semi-regular series of tapings to keep the episodes fresh, like TNA currently does in Orlando, Florida. There's talk that WSX may end up debuting on MTV in late Fall, possibly November but nothing is 100% confirmed yet."
