Like others, I would much rather have SD return to Thursdays (and I think that the WWE would as well), regardless of actual channel.

Well if I was WWE I would try to snag a spot on Thursdays on USA. I mean what does USA show on Thursdays. All there good stuff is on Fridays anyway.
Also on the talk with whats good on CW. Well Reaper, Smallville , and Supernatural come to mind.

Meltzer reports that the WWE announced SD's new home as being MyNetworkTV. This of course begs the question: do I bother to figure out which channel is MNTV so I can readjust my DVR, or do I just stop watching SD completely? Neither option is particularly appealing...

Meltzer reports that the WWE announced SD's new home as being MyNetworkTV. This of course begs the question: do I bother to figure out which channel is MNTV so I can readjust my DVR, or do I just stop watching SD completely? Neither option is particularly appealing... I saw that on their corporate page. Mynetwork TV is the unwanted remnants of the WB/UPN merger. There is no way they can look at this as anything buy a major step down. The psuedo-netwokr doesn't even have one show that's so much as a blip on the tv viewing radar. They have got to be taking a loss in overall homes reached here, since I can't believe mntv reaches even close to as many homes as CW. I just checked the mynetworktv web site, and here are some of the "gems" Smackdown will be joining: Paradise Hotel 2 -3rd rate reality tv show in a hotel setting. Street Patrol- COPS on a different network Jail- COPS once the perp has been arrested and processed. Whacked Out Videos- "Whacky" reality video clips. Meet My Folks- more reality tv "goodness" Celebrity Expose- Third rate E True Hollywood story NFL Total Access- NFL package show with the "c"-lister of NFL broadcasting. Oh, and there appears to be a show with Flavor Flav starting in April. Way to cement the WWe's place as king of the low-brow bottom-feeders.

Call me wildy optimistic, but if the NFL has thrown a bone to this POS network, *maybe* they believe that it has some value. And..if you look at that line-up...it's sort of like Diet SpikeTV, so wrestling fits better.
Plus...it's hard to feel any empathy for the WWE on this:
-When this merger happened, they *knew* they'd have problems on the CW because of the network's target audience.
-It's been historically proven that wrestling gets smaller sponsorship money no matter what the ratings are.
-Insteadof going out of their way to cement SD's place on network TV, they did everything humanly possible to make SD the B show. Anytime a guy on SD got hot crowd reactions, move em to Raw. Any time there's a draft, screw over SD. If a guy on Raw gets hurt, replace him immediately; but if it happens on SD, ignore it completely.
If the E considers the show the minor leagues, why should the fans pay attention?

The first thing I thought of was I can see VKM thinking to himself that he can pull this network out of nothing and make it into something just by putting Smackdown on there.

Its worth noting that when Smackdown debuts on whatever the hell this channel is and it draws close to RAW's ratings it will make the company look incredibly strong by having such a loyal fanbase.
It also makes the company that it will probably double the viewers of this channel by placing Smackdown there. Now all I have to do is figure out what channel it is.

SD has been averaging in the mid to high 2's for a long while now and Raw is regularly in the low 4's. In terms of actual viewers (especially since this new network reaches less homes) it's nowhere near as impressive. I do agree, however, that SD will immediately become the highest rated show on this MyNetworkTV. Which will still be a step backward.

In terms of drawing 2s on network TV, you're looking at a very low-rated show. In terms of drawing 4s on a cable channel no one has ever heard of, it automatically goes into the top 5 shows on cable. It also makes the company look good because viewers have found a channel they previously knew nothing about.

MyNetworkTV is not "cable."
They are a Fox owned commercial broadcast network that in most major markets took the place of the space on the dial where UPN used to be. So there's no way they're getting 4s and even if they match their old CW numbers it will mean a major loss in viewers.
There's just no way to paint this as a positive. They had their TV contract cancelled by a crappy network and ended up on an even crappier network, due mainly in part to their own poor decisions: they treated SD like the B show and eventually viewers did the same.

My mistake. From everything I had read about Smackdown moving channels, it sounded like it was headed for a cable location. Again, I wasn't trying to put a positive spin on the cancellation.

Bump for great justice now that we (I?) know the date for the move (October 3rd).
In an amusing side note, I checked my entire digital guide and can't find MNTV anywhere.

That's because it's a nothing network. Hard to view this any other way than a huge downward spiral for Smackdown. Well, that and another stupid clusterfuck Championship Scramble seals the deal

Maybe it's not widespread enough to be in your market?
No idea. It's obviously a fledgling network.
But this is Vince McMahon we're talking about. There's got to be some long-term plan to make MyNetworkTV the next NBC.
Or maybe the next XFL.

To be fair, it wasn't his choice to leave CW. From what I understand there are several of CW's sponsors who are still questioning that decision.

And had they not made a move towards PG....USA Network would have done the same thing.
