I know that this has been asked before, I think that I may have even asked the question on the old forum, but I was just wondering what GWF wrestlers are based on real wrestlers?
I don't mean in looks (I saw that thread), I mean overall.
Like I know Tom said that Draconian Sheik (SP?) was based on the original Sheik.
Was Omega really based on Jay Strongbow?
Any others?
I am thinking about using some of the obvious ones in my Legends fed.
Thanks!

The Draconian Sheik is actually a clone of the original Sheik, so you can't get much more of an influence than that. And even with that, I didn't write the card the way I'd write a real-life Sheik card.
Omega isn't so much influenced by Jay Strongbow as the prototype of any Indian wrestler, including Chief White Owl and numerous others.
Vanity is a poor man's Ric Flair.
Brute and Massacre were influenced by the Road Warriors.
There are others. If I saw a wrestling persona that seemed cool, I might have tried to find a way to tweak it and incorporate it in the game. The same could be said for comic books, horror, sci-fi, and a million other things.

Tom, thanks for your reply.
I have always wondered if anybody was based on Spider-Man (Since he was always my favorite comic book hero)?

Lycosa resembles a spideman wrestler the most.
I got a Q for Tom; are Cyclopes and Turge based on Andre and Keven Sullivan? Cyclopse and Andre were both hard to move around the ring, and Keven and Turge were both small sceming managers and wrestlers.
Just curious, Thanks,
Jay

The way I remember it, Spiderman was never a direct influence. I can't speak for the artists though.
The same for the Sullivans. I don't remember ever seeing them (maybe Kevin Sullivan a few times) and there is no connection to Cyclopes and Turge.

Big Superstar is obviously Hogan
There's also a King Kong Bundy knockoff besides the real Legends version though I can't think of his name at the moment

Tom, I'm reasonably sure Nemecys meant Andre the Giant. If Andre ever shows up in a Legends edition, he should probably have the nigh-immovability of Cyclopes.
I can't think of any more GWF/real-life matches off hand, but Dreggs is an awful lot like Chris Benoit.

That would be Avalanche. He's one of those guys who probably could be interesting but like Mensar got shoved to the side unfortunately.

Another fairly obvious one is Darkos' resemblance to Dr. Doom.. if you're still out there Tom, was that you'r intent (the personality does sorta go also) or was it mostly the artist?
The Estorians also look alot like the Thing (from the Fantastic Four that is) , IMO.

Terminus also resembles the thing.

Wow. Some people are coming up with some interesting connections. To the best of my memory, here's the scorecard:
Yes, Kill Prey was influenced in part by Kraven.
Avalanche is clearly a knock off of King Kong Bundy. The promotion for signing Bundy as a Legends card was that we were releasing a Bundy of the future in the GWF. Bundy knew it and approved.
Any resemblance between Dreggs and Chris Benoit is a coincedence.
The similarities between Darkos and Doctor Doom are not intended on my part and are due intentionally or not to Chuck Carter's interpretation of the character. I don't really think of Darkos having a Doom personality any more than alot of other guys in the GWF.
Yes, the look of the Thing was very loosely an influence on the look of the Estorians.
Nice job guys!

I realize that many COTG fans are also fans of sci-fi stuff and comics. I'm not really into those things (I like COTG because of the wrestling ingredient), so I must ask, who is this "Kraven"? For those of who whom I have offended for asking what could be seen as a "stupid" question (LOL), I apologize, but I'm just curious.

Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter. He was a big game hunter who became obsessed with hunting Spider-Man, considering him the ultimate trophy.

Is there any that resemble the Incredible Hulk?
Also, how does Lycosa resemble Spider-Man? I don't have that card.

Well, Lycosa is incredibly agile and has a spidery-gimmick.
Buck Steele/Genocide/Hyper are all very Hulk-like at various stages of Hulk's storylines.

Sorry to keep asking but how so? Do they "Hulk Up?" See, I'm looking to use my GWF as an "Indy" fed for my Legends Fed, but I want it to be somewhat realistic (as realistic as wrestling is at times ;D However, I want it to still be humanly possible. Like Hulk Hogan "Hulked Up," but he didn't turn into a green monster So, I don't mind if they Hulk up, as long as they don't turn into a monster or something like that.

Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter. He was a big game hunter who became obsessed with hunting Spider-Man, considering him the ultimate trophy. And didn't Kraven kill himself after finally capturing Spider-Man because he had attained his ultimate goal? And I don't think he ever returned.

Buck Steele becomes Genocide, a big, hulking muscleman when he gets beat on...and Hyper is later Genocide's brain in Steele's body.
Definitely too "sci-fi" for what you're wanting,
