Over on the GWF board, I asked who everyone thought were the most promising GWF/CPC rookies to blossom into dominant champs. Well, I have the same question here. Which of the current crop of WWE young guns do you all think has the tools to become one of the alll time greats.
As much as I hate to admit it, Randy Orton probably has the best chance because of his talent (it's there - it's just hiding behind this prettyboy image he's got), his relationship with the power players and decorated ring vets, and because Shelton Benjamin (the other guy who has the best shot) will be around to give him the type of foe that makes good wrestlers great. Orton and Benjamin are the future Rock/Austin, Benoit/Angle and Flair/Steamboat (okay, maybe not quite that good, but you get the picture). So, what does everybody else think?

I think Orton, Benjamin, and John Cena will all have stellar careers. AJ Styles, if he ever decides to take WWE up on its original offer to come on board, has all the tools to be a legend. The only thing he is lacking is mic skills, I am sure that someone can teach him how to talk.

Not Styles, sorry.
He's too small, that's a given.

I would say Orton (as a heel he works it better) , Benjamin & Dupree (as a heel of course)

Not Styles, sorry. He's too small, that's a given. Rey Misterio is small, too. AJ Styles is about 10-15 pounds lighter than Eddie Guerrero and maybe 15-20 pounds lighter than Chris Benoit. Just like anything else, if you've got tools and desire, you'll succeed.

Rey, Benoit and Guerrero were given the opportunity during WCW's peak run to impress people. An opportunity they would almost surely not have gotten in the WWE.
AJ Styles does not have that platform with which to make his name. TNA isn't nearly as big a deal as they would like us to believe, or as big as I wish they were.
Could this change? I suppose. TNA would have to get a renewed creative direction (like a booker who doesn't think he has to be part of the show), as well as a better TV deal. But if that were to happen, Styles would be MUCH better off staying in TNA anyway, as they have successfully positioned him as the "new face of professional wrestling".

I don't think Styles is as unknown as you may think. For one, everybody that happens to catch a TNA show comes away thinking ultra-highly of him. Secondly, he was the third runner-up for wrestler of the year in PWI for two straight years. I know PWI is not what it used to be, as someone pointed out, but that is still impressive, considering that he beat out Triple H and JBL and doesn't work for WWE.
I don't buy into the idea that the only reason that Guerrero, Benoit, and Misterio, you can add Jericho here to, if you like, are only stars because they were given an opportunity on WCW stage. It is widely accepted that Vince like to bury guys that have made it big elsewhere. I don't entirely agree with that, but there is some evidence to support the theory. If that is the case, however, he would not have given a damn how over Jericho or Benoit was in WCW, he would have just signed them and buried them.
If Styles is given the opportunity, which I believe he will, he will be a star in WWE.

Well, Styles has already (wisely) turned them down.
PWI's year end awards are notoriously rigged with inflated point totals, so that actually says nothing.
I would be willing to concede Guerrero, Benoit and Jericho...especially Guerrero and Jericho...but I am completely convinced that Rey is only over now because he was over from WCW and was given a chance based off of that.
It being widely accepted that Vince likes to bury the competition is true. Just like it's widely accepted that he has a big man fetish.
Half of Styles moveset would be banned in the WWE as either being "too fast" or "too dangerous". From there, he's just too small.
I believe that he'll either stay in TNA and help turn it into legitimate competition or, if it folds, he'll return to ROH and begin cementing himself as the new "King of the Indies".
