I just read somewhere that Rob Van Dam opted not to go on the Iraq tour and I think that's highly disappointing. I've heard it was "optional", but wrestlers were encouraged to go. I'm not going into whether everyone was for the war or against it, but either way, it's nice to give something back to the men and women who are out there everyday putting their LIFE on the line whether you agree or not while we can complain on a message board that Legends Hardcore is shipping two days later than it was supposed to. But onto RVD, I love watching some of the moves he does and respect him as a competitor, but now have some mixed feelings on his choice. It must be nice to live in the country where you can appear on the cover of "High Times". GOD Bless the Troops! I hope they enjoyed the Smackdown shows (like we do so much! Keep the dice rolling........

Did the article say why he chose not to go? If he didn't go because he is against the war then that is pretty weak. I was against the Iraqi war from the jump, but I have nothing but respect for people brave enough to go to war for their country.
If his reason was something different, perhaps the desire to spend Christmas with his family after being on the road 280 days a year, then that is perfectly understandable.

maybe it's just that he doesn't want to be KILLED. I don't blame him.
other things I've heard about the Iraq trip...
Luther Reigns didn't want to go either, but was forced too.
Muhammed Hassan will answer Kurt Angle's "Hometown Challenge" INSTANTLY making him a face again, just in time for WM...

WELL...it was RVD's birthday, too.
Many of these guys are on the road nonstop...not all get to take "vacations" and light schedules like 'Taker, Rock, HHH and such...so, ESPECIALLY if they have families, who can blame 'em for not going?

Well said Trav!!! As an Afghanistan vet, I thank you for that awesome comment. Thanks for your comment too Joe. I'll tell ya, after not being able to watch wrestling for months while I was deployed last year, meeting Kurt Angle & JBL within one week when their USO tours stopped by my base was a HUGE thrill for me. Believe me, those troops would be happy seeing the Hurricane and Rosey, if ya know what I mean. Anything to break the monotony over there is a great thing in a troop's eyes. RVD's decision to stay at home will be the furthest thing from those troops' minds. They'll be happy for whomever they get to see. That's how most of us over there felt anyways.

Thank you for being one of the brave ones I was talking about.
