I usually do 5-6 matches on regular weekly cards and anywhere from 8-10 on PPV's. I probably have less matches because I have been playing the Classics years where the fed is pretty small unless you bring in some bootlegs. I'm just now getting into the original game edition and I'm not sure how I'm going to like having so many wrestlers. I'm already struggling to give guys like Death Knight and Marcel De Sade something to do. That's what's great about Beast-Rider... he's always valuable on a card. If you have a wrestler who you want to succeed but he just can't seem to catch a break, put him up against Beast-Rider.

So many wrestlers? In 2074, there's 19...in 2087, there's 24. That's not that big of a leap.
Incidentally, in my 2075 fed, I have 5-6 matches a show, with shows every two weeks. Thus far, it's a system that works.
In my 2117 feds, I have grossly overinflated shows, around 12 matches and an interview segment on CPC shows and around 15 matches and an interview segment on GWF shows.

Currently in 2088...
I usually do about 5 to 6 matches on the regular weekly cards, about 8 matches on the monthly PPV's, and for the big PPV's every 3 months, I try to give everyone on the roster a match.

Hey Gordon,
There's a new COTG product out called "Early Classics of the 2070's & 80's". Basically, it fills in all of the gaps and gives you enough wrestlers to run a functional fed. If you use the set, then in 2074 your fed will start out with 19 wrestlers. That's what Tommy is trying to tell you. It's a great set and I highly reccommend getting your hands on it.

Ok that's why, you have the new Classics set. I played the Classics portion of history before the new set ever came out and thus I didn't have many wrestlers.
Even with the extra Classics set, going through over a decade of history with the same 19 wrestlers can get rather stale and confining. That's why I say that it's a pretty tough thing to do without throwing in some bootlegs to mix it up or just having a few cards per game year.

Ah, but Early Classics fills in more than just the beginning, Gordon...it (using the other Classics sets) fleshes out a GWF that grows and changes from the beginning into 2087.
It IS highly recommended...I have a review around here on one of the forums.

GRR... why couldn't this set have come out when I was trudging through the Classics sets the first time? I finally got to 2087 and now they release a set that I really want to play! I looked all over the site for some more information on the new Classics set but couldn't find much. If you have a review I'd like to see it. Question, do any of the wrestlers in the new set stick around beyond 2087? Or do they all disappear beforehand?

In order to maintain continuity, all the guys remaining leave as 2086-2087 changeover begins.

The number of wrestlers in the GWF fluctuates between 19 and 25 (I think) up until 2086, where all who aren't in the original 2087 set leave for various reasons (The Early Classics booklet tells you the reasons for each wrestler, for wrestlers in the original Classics sets (2074, 2079, 2084, 2086), nothing really changes as to why they leave the fed, and most of the 2074 guys are long gone by this point anyway.
There are also downgraded cards for Omega and Morpheus (during the early 80's), upgrades for Star Warrior and Cosmos (so they don't go from being rookie material to all-of-a-sudden superstars in 2087), and a Dragon Fighter card (Pit Viper before the injury). EC really doesn't alter GWF history as you know it at all, it just complements it and makes 2074-2086 as playable and enjoyable as any current game edition.
I've written an introduction to my 2074 fed, and Tommy and I both update our 2074 feds on the GWF "Fed Forum." I'd be more than happy to send you what I've written, or you can just check out the threads in the Fed Forum.
Bottom line Gordon: Get the EC set and start over. You'll be glad you did.

I currently have 36 wrestlers, and 10 tag teams.
I have 3 cards, which have roughly 6 singles matches per card, and 2 tag matches.
The pay-per-view is usually about 9-10 matches.

I realize that this does not focus on COTG or LOW but I have just read Terry Funk's book MORE THAN JUST HARDCORE and Harley Race's book KING OF THE RING and they both mention that in Amarillo Dory Funk Sr and 'Iron' Mike Dibiase participated in a 1 hour and 45 minute Texas Death Match. There was a standby match but it was not used.
Times have changed and our limited attention span wouldn't hold out for that long. I seem to recall that in the late 80's WCW showed a tag match between The Fantastics and I believe it was The Midnight Express during a tournament and the match took up the whole broadcast hour.
As I said I do not think this would be reasonable for either game but it just goes to show how the business has changed over the years.

I like to have a cruiser weight or a match that will have lots of action to open most shows. I didnt think about it but based on others suggestions i like the popcorn match just before the maine event(s). I have about 6-8 matches for the weekly/bi weekly tv shows. I havent done house shows yes but if i do they will probably go 7-10 as there is no in between matches stuff. When i get to the lateryears and the roster expands i hope to add a saturday night wcw type show where there is matches that have some of the lesser talent/up and comers vs each other or vs a maine eventer. Those could go from 4-6 matches.
