The new LWF World Champion Jim Londos will be busy defending his title in different territories under the LWF banner and will have only limited appearances in SMW for the time being . Former SMW champion Mil Mascaras has decided to tour Japan and will be gone for several months but plans on returning this summer. Three Smoky Mountain Originals (Dan Severn, Danny Hodge, and The Sandman) have decided to move on while lots of new faces ( Pepper Gomez, Chris Candido, Hillbilly Jim and Antonio Rocca ) are making their SMW debuts this month.

The Smoky Mountain Elevation Singles Tournament originally scheduled to begin this June has been moved up and will begin on the next SMW card. The tournament will feature 16 stars of the future competing in a double elimination tournament for a spot on the SMW roster. The line up is as follows
