Man oh man did I get my white envelope yesterday. I had a pretty much awful day but this brought me up a bit.
Even though I knew Wolf was back everything else was a haze and I read my booklet first like everyone recommended. What a treat. What I love most about this set is how Tom took most of the guys who were dead weight in my fed(Stars and Stripes, Betrayer, Sly Drury and Slave Beast) and breathed new life into them. I am actually excited to finish up my last two cards of 2121 and get to this set.
The story-Awesome
-The return of Wolf pretty much can get you excited even if your not a fan of him. Outlaw Nation rules period. The return of Havoc. The Epoch betrayal and Vengence finale are all great. There are a few problems I have with this set. One being how Divided We Fall went from being probably the top faction to having a talent enhancement feud. I like the Sultans team but I dont know I guess we will all find out like just like Thantos. Another is the lack of a Ani-Men story and there feeling on Wolf's return. Kill Prey kinda being side tracked from a main event feud(his card is too good not to push him) and The Greatest show being kinda useless this year. No matter what im complaining about this is still the best set of the three in my opinion.
Cards
Monolith LE- I see what everyone was talking about. This card was not really needed but it is a addition to know what Monolith looks like. I really think that Tom was giving everyone what they wanted when everyone was complaining last year. Just remember you can never truly please wrestling fans just because. Good card none the less.
Wolf- Man does this guy age well.I never got to his last card so but I have seen the stats and I gotta say he is no worse then ever. My only complaint is I wish he had better gear in his artwork instead of his same old tattered rags(now wonder Amazonia left him). I wish he had some pouches, goggles or traveling gear. Kind of a inter-galactic Indiana Jones would have been nice. Well it is still written fantastic. Great addition and the new feuds should be awesome.
Sly Drury-Wins. I love when mid-card guys become major players and this seems like no minor overhaul. Drury is going straight for the brass ring and I can dig that. I remember when I seen the art to his 2119 card and liked him but seen the stats and was a little let down. He has kinda just languished in lower card obscurity for the last couple of years but I dig this card. GWF title here he comes.
Daimyo-I dont know I was a little let down by this card. Easily my least favorite of this set. He falls in line with the three cards(GateKeeper, Dead Ringer, and Daimyo) but I think I liked GateKeeper the most. Im kinda hoping Tom swerves us all and brings back Keeper and Ringer and forms a new masked assassin faction. The real loser is Kill Prey in my opinion wasting a year with this feud but ill come up with something for him.
Havoc-This is one top notch card. I cant wait to for Havoc to kick Rages you know what this year. He may not beat Disaster every time but I would be surprised if he doesnt get any wins. I was really looking forward to his return but I think it kinda got overshadowed by Wolf's. Still a great card and I cant wait to use it.
U.S. Male-This is a pretty good deal for Stars and Stripes in my opinion. I think they were starting to get stale in my fed and this just adds a little spark both. Not only a former tag team feud but they are on center stage of this whole Endgame's Crusade vs Outlaw Nation which = fun for everyone.
Vidtek-I think this card is pretty cool and im really surprised at how big he is. 6'5 285lbs. jeez. I wonder why everyone was punking him out so much in interviews last year so this should be fun. In my fed I dug out the Quilitar talk show card and used it as a Vidtek talk show(Tek-nical Wrestling) last year and now there should be plenty of fun to be had with this. The Sultans are alright.
Strafe-I really like the art. I think she will harden up over a couple of years and the smile is cute because she probably would murder all of us without a thought.
Betrayer-Wow, I mean he was a waste of space in my fed and I think his new attitude and story really put him over for me. He reminds me Homicide form ROH and I think thats how im gonna use him. Heres a great example of less is more.
Retribution-I love the art and his card is pretty good but im totally not behind him 100 percent. I wanted a more bestial fighting style but he is pretty technical for a big man. Pretty good anyway.
Malkuth-Out with Slave Beast in the the Lord of the Jungle. He is pretty sweet but im afraid without a strong feud he and Panther Warrior my get lost in the shuffle. I like him but I dont know if he will hold my attention.
Chaos-LE-I just like collecting LE's but I wish he was a bit bigger. Still top notch color job.
All in all really great set. Good job to all involved. This really got me through the weekend. My only quarrel with this weekend after I opened the envelope I had to go to a party with my buddy so I had to wait to dig into the goodness. I also probably will never hear from the chick I canceled a date on to go home and check my mail for Sci-Fi wrestling cards. Still worth it. ;D
