And inside was 2122 and Promoter Madness.
First 2122
Wow. All I can say is wow.
Wolf is back and he is better than ever (ok so as good as ever). You have to suspend some disbelief at a guy who has wrestled for almost 40 years but the way its written makes it easy. He will have his hands full with Monolith but I think he'll win a fair amount. Art is good.
Havoc is back and he is better than ever (yes better works this time). While I am a huge Gladiator fan, it also means that I am very intrigued by their enemies and Havoc brings back memories of Mayhem defecting and Spike Vs. Mayhem. I'm expecting alot out of Disaster and Havoc in the feud. Art is cool, kinda generic but I like the angle of the shot.
Having a larger picture of Monolith is nice just for an idea of what he looks like but I think the full face is just (in the words of Kevin Nash), too sweet.
Sly Drury taking the lead of the villian squad and having some nice upgraded stats to go along. His team is an interesting mix of wrestlers but they all lead to a very interesting team feud. I think its gonna be tough for Sly to go head to head with Endgame though. Art is good.
Daimyo is a cool character trying to make Kill-Prey the hunted. I like the art, looks like an old Cobra Commander (and that is awesome.) The heel/face thing in that feud is a bit screwy but I'll just let my imagination take it. His stats really aren't anything to huff at but Kill-Prey is just better IMO.
U.S. Male has good art that gives you the feel of a clean cut face. His singles card is pretty good and I feel as though he is a future Cruiserweight champ. Guy Vs. Male should be fun (even though together they are my tag champs).
Vidtek is the average run of the mill midcard guy stat wise. I think Payback is gonna brutalize him. Art is good and the injury mechanic makes his comeback story all the better.
Strafe - I don't do women's wrestling. She looks like she'll be a good addition for those that do.
Betrayer's new art is cool cuz his eyes give you sort of a creepy "why is this guy looking at me?" type feel. He should be able to go toe to toe with Anivar.
Other than the headliners I think Retribution is the coolest new guy. I think Nosfera might have a slight upper hand but Retribution's art and holding the finisher after the match mechanic are awesome. Looking forward to this guy.
Last but not least is Malkuth. I like where Tom went with him after the Epoch disappearance. Still a damn good tag wrestler and he and Panther Warrior should make some waves.
The story is fantastic and the characters are great. So many things going on that you want conclusions to. This set is great and it really gives the future sets a great base for them to step up to that level as well.
Wolf + Havoc >= Monolith
BIG SET
Promoter Madness is friggin cool. The art for all of the guys is amazing and I will be doing my best to integrate all of them into my storylines in some way.
I'm pumped for COTG. And that means I'm going to roll them dice. Yee-haw!
